We need a coup

Whether it is an internal Tory overthrow or another political group, we need the current criminal incompetents removed from power. They are willfully causing needless C19 deaths and in-full-view pocketing tax payer money with only the flimsiest of attempts to pretend they're not.

I'm no Tory (god forbid) but bloody hell, what we need now is a Margaret Thatcher to sort this unholy mess Boris and his buddies are making.

Those children already born need and should be freely fed and if parents unable to do so society has to provide. Put that out of the way and let us deal with a real issue.

There was a time when a majority of parents had children they could afford. That philosophy has completely disappear, and children being brought into the world by those without the means to support and care for themselves let alone children. In a world where family planning advice freely and openly available. Instances of child neglect and cruelty a regular stain on this accepted free for all.

Boris has already said that he is going in March. He’s not earning enough to keep all his children and ex wives.

I don't know why you have suddenly appeared on here but if that's the best contribution you can make just don't bother again.

And what did Austerity achieve nothing it hit the poorest the rich more than doubled their wealth And the Tories increased the debt. I don't rate any of the Tories.

I doubt if they'll be that concerned about your opinion.

"Some people" - not all recipients are angels, but that isn't a reason to demonise generally those whoneed the benefits and use them responsibly.

You are rather selective, Janpt, or perhaps stubborn is the right word.

You believe you were shown of a man was videod doing on a TV programme and what he said he was going to do with his money (something sensational which a show made for entertainment and something that a boastful man would say if he knoew he'd be shown on "the box".

But you don't believe what a whole load of posters have told you from their own firsthand experience of having to survive and feed children on a minuscule amount, or from administering the benefits, or what statisticians have on record of the people in receipt of these benefits, and the number of children they ^already had when they became in need of them?

I suspect the only thing that you would believe is having no savings or income yourself and falling into the poverty trap, while no-one and nothing was there to help you get out of it. One day you may find out the hard way. Meanwhile, enjoy your safety and cross your fingers you keep it.

I'm sure the man on the programme was an example what does actually go on.
Perhaps some people should have thought about the future and if they could cope in any eventuality before they had these children. I suppose they knew that someone else would provide.

I agree Janpt on Rishi Sunak, Annalise Dodds doesn’t fill anyone with confidence I should think.

It's so good to hear from someone who agrees with me on something at last !!!!

All I can say is 'thank god the Labour party are not in power' They left nothing when they left government and that is the reason for austerity. They even left a note to say 'sorry there's no money left'. At least the government had built up funds again before the pandemic arrived. Thank goodness the weird Annaleise Dodds is not the chancellor and we are in the safe hands of Rishi Sunak

Grany Sat 24-Oct-20 14:35:48

I don't know where to start Janpt but I will try to explain. I explained Austerity makes it hard to live, to make ends meet. You seem to think it's poor people fault that they are in dire circumstances.

Have you read the long list of criminal activity of the government in the post 'An overview of what's happend just this week in government'?

If so did you could not fail to be appalled ashamed of the PM and his government?

You can see people in desperate need don't get much on UC

The government voted to not provide free school meals for the poorest children which means they will go hungry. Marcus Rashford wants the government to back down And spurred on by Marcus food outlets are now providing meals for children up and down the country for free as a way of helping the poor.

Did you know PMs get subsidised meals and drinks They make sure they don't go without.

You are the only one that's been indoctrinated to think the way you do.

Jantpt, you are the poster in this discussion, who has been "indoctrinated to think in a certain way".
You're posts are extremely judgemental and your views seem to have been heavily influenced by the kind of poverty porn programmes which any decent person would reject as cruel and aimed to show the people who take part in a dark light.

I did not need to be indoctrinated to know the difference between right and wrong, justice and injustice, unacceptable words to use if you are the Deputy leader of a political party and carrying out your rule in the House of Commons. I did not need to watch a programme to know why some people are in a situation where they cannot afford to feed their children. It's pretty obvious.

Galaxy Sat 24-Oct-20 14:28:01

grin Sorry but if I didnt laugh I would cry. It would make you despair but taking one look at marcus rashfords twitter feed shows that most people all across the country are responding in the opposite manner. Thank god.

Callistemon

I haven't had my hair cut either except by myself.
The back's a bit wonky but I can't see that!

I haven't bothered about the back.

I had my hair cut in the garden. Washed it myself, let my hairdresser come into the garden by the side gate, we both wore masks. She cut the back and sides (I do the fringe so no face-to-face), then she left, and I washed it again and then blowdried it myself. First proper cut since February.

Janpt Universal Credit is paid five weeks in arrears. Claimants can indeed receive an advance, but it's in the form of a repayable loan, so people then have to lose some of the pittance they receive.

I saw the programme about a job centre which showed a man drawing his advance out of a cash machine which was over £500 and smirking about going to spend the lot. It should be made harder for people like that to be given such a large amount in one go and questions should be asked about what the money is spent on with receipts to show. Social workers should be trained to know when it's better to be cruel in order to be kind.

I am not naive enough to believe a word of the propaganda that comes out of China EV

I think we cannot continue with the lock down approach to dealing with the virus. More people are dying from other things now than the virus, we are creating a disastrous situation for our children's future and that of our grandchildren. We need to look more toward supporting vulnerable people and start a gradual return to a more normal way of life for others.

Couldn't agree more, soda pop.

Is there any way you could take a lodger MadeinYorkshire? The rent for furnished room up to £7500pa is tax free.

MadeInYorkshire Sat 24-Oct-20 12:09:39

Growstuff - yes had a change in circumstances, my daughter moved out so I reapplied for my Severe Disability Premium which I can't have because I withdrew some of my pension to keep me afloat .... sad

Sorry! blush

I'd far rather discuss democracy and Cromwell/Civil War, but nobody seems interested.

growstuff Sat 24-Oct-20 11:20:34

The maximum amount of Universal Credit is currently £94 a week until next April, when it will revert to £74 a week. Out of that, people have to pay a proportion of council tax, probably some rent, utility bills, transport, food and any other essentials. These days people have to have some form of internet connection because benefits are claimed online, so they'll need a phone/tablet as a minimum. People who can manage on that long-term really should be offered a job in the Treasury because they're obviously very good at housekeeping. hmm
