and the world breathes a massive sigh of relief - wow <3

I hope it goes well now but Biden doesn't like us, what difference that will make not sure. Having watched some of the coverage I do wonder what the Trump supporters will do now after all they are all armed apparently.

Some years ago now, the conclave of cardinals debarred members who are over seventy from being suggested as papal candidates.

Perhaps we all should do the same with politicians?

Or shall we except that we all live longer and that seeing signs of incipient dementia in others is perhaps a reflection of our own fears rather than an opinion based upon facts.

Why not leave Melania Trump alone? She had her reasons for marrying the man, what they are is her concern, not ours, and at least she has had the decency to stick by him publicly.

lemon your support of the Tories has been vociferous ever since you have been posting on GN. So your suggestion that you are not a supporter is disingenuous to say the least.

My daughter and her husband and our Gc live in the USA so I’m praying for a peaceful transition. Thrilled by the news.

Loved the guy who said Trump should put on his ’big boy pants’ and go with dignity!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:07:07

For those who are concerned about his age. Ask yourself how was Churchill and Gladstone when they took office.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:07:28

How old

Nicegranny Sun 08-Nov-20 13:09:12

Riverwalk l completely agree with you. The presidency was wasted by Trump and he could have done so much for the US and the whole world. He is ignorant. Biden may not be everyone’s choice but at least it’s broken the Trump reign.

suziewoozie Sun 08-Nov-20 13:11:48

Churchill was 77 when he became PM in 1951 but he was British and as we know we are always the exception.

Parsley3 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:27:42

Indeed we are suzie we have the example of the Royals who are still doing a wonderful job well into old age.

Free Melania!

hooray,a good thing for the world, but malignant narcissists,ie trump don't take defeat at all, the monster will do anything to save his face, he won't leave quietly, nothing would surprise me as to what he will get up to.I hope he disappears never to be heard of again, but i doubt it.

Ramblingrose22 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:34:36

Just because Joe Biden is in his late 70's doesn't mean he will soon get dementia.
My MIL is 99 and has all her marbles. Others of a similar age do too.
I am delighted that Joe Biden has won and wish him well.

Madwoman11 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:37:22

I'm so pleased also that Trump has gone. The man has very nearly driven me to drink lol. Facebook is now full of people calling Biden a pedophile, which is hell of an accusation!

Pammie1 Sun 08-Nov-20 13:39:21

I too breathed a sigh of relief. Let’s hope Biden brings some unity instead of the divisive tactics used by Trump. I hope and pray that there will be no violent rampages from Trump supporters.

There are suggestions that Trump plans to do a deal to get him out.

Just go in and escort the man out - bodily if necessary!!

Yes indeed, it is all about ‘the deal’ with Trump, it is claimed that he even wanted to be sworn in using his book ‘The Art Of TheDeal’ instead of the Bible. I just hope they don’t pander to him, it’s about time he was made accountable for his wrong doings. Biden is doing the right thing by largely ignoring him and getting on with preparations for the huge tasks he has to undertake.

Like Trump, Biden has made a few slip ups when speaking but he made a very inclusive and impressive speech which reflected his decades of political knowledge and experience in politics.

@Ramblingrose22. I read somewhere that Biden has already been diagnosed with the onset of Dementia. There was a suggestion that if he became president, he would step aside at some point early in the presidency and Kamala Harris would take over - one of the political commentators was heard to advise democrats to acquaint themselves with Ms Harris’ background and reputation because a vote for Biden would ultimately be a vote for Harris. Don’t think this would be a bad thing - another first, a woman of colour as president.

I think that you are buying into Trump propaganda.

May I suggest that this site doesn’t feature political polemic?

Surely there are other online outlets for those who want to express their partisan views, whether domestic or international?

It is on a News and Politics Forum but that is only one amongst many.

We're having a nice difference of opinion on a Gardening thread too at the moment.

They'll need a crow bar to get him out of the White House come January!

No all they need to do is wave a pardon for all his debts and he’ll be gone like a rocket.
