Switzerland criticised for not rolling out vaccines fast enough

Well, between you and GagaJo, GG13, I'm well confused. Stories about failures of European on the vaccine front countries are usually triumphalist Brexit crowing. But I can't attribute that motive to GagaJo.

OTOH GG13 appears to be robustly defending Switzerland.. implying that the story posted by the OP is incorrect, so 'incorrect' that it needs to be apologised for..

What is going on? Is this a private fight or can anyone join in? grin

Unfortunately incorrect news articles travel faster and wider than the factual apology/withdrawal of the original piece.

biba70 the head of public health England has said vaccines will not be mixed, this was a report in The NY times, which they have been asked to retract.

France too. But there is only one country that is planning on going totally against manufacturers instructions- and that truly scares me. Many friends have been vaccinated already, one of them 65 years old due to the medication she takes. All very efficient so far, with specialist centres set up.

However, two wrongs never make a right. And mixing vaxs and extending gap between doses is truly wrong.

Just making the point really that it isn't just the UK getting criticised.

Switzerland isn't my neighbour, btw. I live here.

'...they really scare me..

Ilovecheese

I think that is the one thing that our Govt. got right, ordering different vaccines.

Fine as long as they don't try to make us have mixed dosages. They're so casual about the nation's health that they really scare.

I'm wondering why you started this thread, GagaJo?

Is it 'bash all our European neighbours' week?

I think that every country will be deemed to have got it wrong.
I am thankful that I haven’t had to make the decisions on behalf of any nation.

Not just the UK and US that get flack for their handling of the virus.

“Switzerland has been playing too tactically and has only ordered from potential manufacturers a *of the vaccine it really needs,” declared former vice-director of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) Andreas Faller in the SonntagsZeitung newspaper on January 3.

“Switzerland should have taken a certain risk by ordering a sufficient quantity from each manufacturer for the entire population. People are dying, the economy is damaged, every minute is precious. It is incomprehensible that the FOPH was so hesitant in purchasing the vaccine.”
