I have just seen this on the BBC website, what on earth is wrong with people.
We will never be out of this Covid nightmare until EVERYONE takes it seriously and abides by the guidelines!!!

Smileless2012

They should be publicly named and shamed and I hope every single person was fined.

Totally agree Smileless2012

Yes, I'd read that the community had a large Charedi population but hadn't made assumptions about the wedding. Just assumed a school hall had been hired out.

Now, non Jewish people are likely to lump everyone together as they have done to muslims in lots of Muslim areas. It just makes me sad. There was another thing about "Travellers" at a funeral etc etc.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Jan-21 12:59:47

Hasidic is a sub-form of Haredi Judaism which started in 18th Century Western Ukraine according to Google

MissAdventure Fri 22-Jan-21 12:50:16

The community here are hasidic Jews, just to be clear.

I've no idea what the differences are.

NotSpaghetti Fri 22-Jan-21 12:43:45

Oh dear. I hadn't read about the type of school. This will no doubt cause lots of local friction. ?

Missfoodlove Fri 22-Jan-21 12:43:26

Haredi is a very unusual form of Judaism.

It doesn’t get much stranger than this!

Luckygirl

Glad they got a hefty fine - and a criminal record.

With the average cost of a UK wedding being £35k, and no doubt 400 guests would have greatly increased that figure, I doubt whether a £10k fine would have bothered them too much.

I assume the family had some connection with the school which in its aims states:
To develop in each girl a moral understanding and a range of skills, talents and values, in particular, modesty, tolerance, respect of others, courtesy and general demeanour as a בת ישראל (Bas Yisroel - daughter of Israel)
A bit hypocritical then.

Just posted on a different thread, but here goes again.
People breaking the rules should be fined and also make a public apology and give an explanation why they are so special.
Time to name and shame.

Last night we had y zoom call with daughters and they have begged us to cancel our trip to UK for Easter. They said just too many people in the UK were behaving like absolute idiots and that it made our trip just too risky. Our grandchildren are so so angry about so many of their friends and families not obeying the rules.

We will be vaccinated soon, and hopefully will be able to see them all at the end of May for our 50th anniv. These XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXs are making all the efforts of rule abiding people nil and void and causing 10s of 1000s of deaths and suffering.

JaneJudge Fri 22-Jan-21 11:49:28

I'm really surprised by this as they were hit really hard, very early, early on last year sad but I think they said the Jewish community in Stamford Hill, not specifically Charedi

ginny Fri 22-Jan-21 11:47:25

?

MissAdventure Fri 22-Jan-21 11:44:21

They don't integrate anyway, preferring to keep very much to themselves.
(Although the women and children use the buses en masse; no masks, of course)

Every guest should be traced and fined. Such selfish behaviour!!
Our son had to cancel his June 2020 wedding and we are now thinking June 2021 won’t happen. Would never consider going ahead if the rules don’t allow it.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Jan-21 11:34:54

Oh my goodness, you really couldn’t make it up!!!!

MissAdventure Fri 22-Jan-21 11:33:43

Herd. smile

MissAdventure Fri 22-Jan-21 11:32:56

Fully open, as far as I know.
They believe they have achieved hard immunity within their community, as most of them have had the virus.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Jan-21 11:28:23

MissA I forgot there was a large community near you.

Is the school fully open or just for key workers children?

As it was a wedding I hope there was a book for guests to sign - they should all be traced and fined and the new amount.
Not sure if it’s true, but word is the Minister (Rabbi?) in charge was a new one as his predecessor had died - from Covid!! You couldn’t make it up.

Luckygirl Fri 22-Jan-21 11:21:02

Glad they got a hefty fine - and a criminal record.

NotSpaghetti Fri 22-Jan-21 11:20:45

What a great idea Bluebelle!
Hold them all together in a big field tent somewhere until all are deemed well (or not)...
Stop selfish people infecting everyone else.
?

prestbury Fri 22-Jan-21 11:13:29

400 people at the wedding event, it beggars belief.

LauraNorder Fri 22-Jan-21 11:10:04

Involuntary manslaughter assuming people die of covid as a result of the actions of these idiots.

LauraNorder Fri 22-Jan-21 11:07:43

Involuntary manslaughter is defined as an unintentional killing that results either from criminal negligence or the commission of a low-level criminal act such as a misdemeanor. Involuntary manslaughter is distinguished from other forms of homicide because it does not require deliberation or premeditation, or intent.
