Last night after feeling unwell.

Fingers crossed for him.

Being picky, it’s 73 years of marriage, not 75.

Still a very long time.

Anniebach Sun 21-Feb-21 10:35:54

So noticeable the Megan admirers and defenders are bossy.

Ellianne that brutal last line of the Sussex’s statement is enough for anyone to feel much sorrow for the royal family , and shows the couple they will sink. Enough of those two.

I hope and pray Phillip recovers and enjoys his 100 birthday .

To put it in a nutshell we know nothing really about what's happening other than what we hear which is probably lies or made up by the media. He's got to 99 which is a long life.

Parsley
Let the old Duke have a dignified end.
No one knows that Prince Philip is at the end of his life.

It is not up to you to tell posters not to express their opinions. This is a country of free speech, and posters are fully entitled to express their opinions on this subject, or any other. If you don’t like the thread, then there is always the option to engage with a different thread.

I think being described as bosdy is usually a good thing for a woman. I would definitely want to be considered bossy if it means asserting my needs and views.

Galaxy Sun 21-Feb-21 10:42:11

Not sure what bosdy is though grin

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Feb-21 10:44:40

Fair enough maddyone, you're quite right, I don't have a right to tell people what to post. As long as they are opinions. If people make up stuff in their minds and post it as true, then I feel I have to say something.

But for goodness sake, we don't own the RF. We don't have a right to post unsubstantiated things about people we don't know and have never met.

I haven't been called bossy for a few years. Made me feel young again. grin

Ellianne Sun 21-Feb-21 10:47:35

Hatred of a woman who doesn't know her station and has just ruined the son of the People's Princess.
To be fair Alegrias this may be true of other threads, but not on the DofE one. I have just re read my far too many posts here (x17) and apart from the swift response to the OP which was correctly taken as black humour by others, I challenge you to find one comment which points a bad
unkind defamatory finger at Meghan.
I do have a sense of occasion, so will stop any pleas for further discussion here on the Oprah interview until it is released.

trisher Sun 21-Feb-21 10:48:42

Has it occurred to anyone that M&H are currently fulfilling the role society has always demanded one of the RF play- the bad Royal. Fore runners include the Windsors, Prince Charles (for a bit) Fergie. M&H were incredibly popular at one point arguably rivalling Will & Kate-couldn't be allowed could it? W&K must be good royals. Hence M&H must be bad. The RF learned from the Charles and Diana debacle.

Ellianne:

The shenanigans across the pond this time are far worse than Meghan doing her usual 'upstaging.' It's beyond the pale.

So noticeable the Megan admirers and defenders are bossy.

The last one also has the bonus of being indirect criticism! Extra points for that.....

Ellianne Sun 21-Feb-21 10:56:26

What? Are you mixed up as well?
I never wrote that. Look at the author.

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Feb-21 11:00:34

What? I know you didn't write it Ellianne . You challenged me to find posts on this thread that were unkind or derogatory to Meghan. I found 2. confused

Ellianne Sun 21-Feb-21 11:04:18

OK if you want to be picky ....... I meant of mine Alegrias as the challenge referred to the 17 posts under Ellianne. It was all first person.

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Feb-21 11:09:02

confused ok

NellG Sun 21-Feb-21 11:20:11

Dictionary definition of the word Opinion - a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

Therefore, something that people 'make up' in their minds.

Popcorn anyone? Cup of tea? Quick nip to the loo in the intermission? wink

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Feb-21 11:29:51

If people make up stuff in their minds and post it as true, then I feel I have to say something.

Do keep up NellG. No sugar for me, thanks.

Puzzler61 Sun 21-Feb-21 11:37:46

Just a thought - should this thread move into the Arguments one? ?
NellG do you have butter toffee popcorn, please?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 21-Feb-21 11:39:20

None of us know what actually goes on behind anyone’s front door(s).

We have a media desperate to grab the headlines, whether they be in print, internet or television which are often full of supposition and whataboutery.

I think I understand why Harry’s chose to be interviewed by Oprah, perhaps he feels that this is the only way he can get across how he feels and why he has made certain decisions lately.

Anniebach Sun 21-Feb-21 12:01:04

Does he need tell the world ? And if reports are true Megan will speak in the first half about her experiences and Harry
will join her for the second half to speak of his future plans. We shall have to wait .

He has said why he made the decision to leave the uk, has made several speeches as to why.

NellG Sun 21-Feb-21 13:06:47

Just popped out to Tesco - thought some might need a Chamomile tea instead. Whole smorgasbord of popcorn flavours, help yourselves.

I shall be offering a cinema evening on the night of the Oprah interview as alternative viewing - the whole of Das Boot, in German, no subtitles. I think some might find it preferable viewing. Hair shirts will be provided for free. Bring your own bed of nails.

Smileless2012 Sun 21-Feb-21 13:11:31

Nellgrin

Ellianne Sun 21-Feb-21 13:13:53

Nelly grin
That's an alternative choice. Are you trying to sink the royal family or put the boot in?

LauraNorder Sun 21-Feb-21 13:15:19

Very interesting that there is a thread about a very old man possibly suffering and probably nearing the end of his life and an argument ensues.
There is a thread that practically begs us to argue and it is one of the most amicable threads in recent times.
Weird

GillT57 Sun 21-Feb-21 13:29:34

I do not know the DofE, have never met him, but wish him well as I would anyone of 99 who has been admitted to hospital. But, let's be realistic, he is 99, and no amount of praying can alter that fact. I think he is nearing the end, and hope it is peaceful and painless. I will then brace myself for the tabloid press and their supporters to use his death as yet another stick to beat H&M.

NellG Sun 21-Feb-21 13:46:04

Ellianne grin

LauraNorder - Tis human nature. Arguments need provocations - the other thread is mostly quite sweet people yapping about socks. Sensibilities need to be offended before true ire can come into play. Those who felt the need expressed their feelings re PP. That the subject changed isn't really a lack of respect for him in my mind, just a progression. Trying to confine arguments to single, legit threads is pretty much like trying to knit water and herd cats. A noble effort, but doomed to fail.

It just all goes a bit wrong when people get personal with other posters. Which is a shame because on the whole I think most of us are fairly decent people - we just have different opinions and life experiences.
