The damage done by the madness of brexit is turning out to be even worse than we feared.

Brexit supporters regularly claim that brexit is done.

So why does Boris Johnson need a second brexit minister?

Wonderful news about how the UK population of 66 million is managing to completely replace a market of 500 million.

It's a little Brexit miracle.

(And the daft b8ggers are paying more for the surplus seafood than they would had most of it been exported. What a time to be alive...)

The cornish crab industry is benefiting greatly from diversification. Whole families of fishers soon recognised how to enlarge their business with wives and partners preparing and also delivering the catch. More local employment.
You can choose how you want your crab Welshwife but you have to bear in mind weight and portions.

When the going gets tough the though get going. Nothing new in that farmers and others have been doing that for many years. It’s a way of getting “some” cash to live on.

These fishermen are doing their best to mitigate the damage to their livelihoods caused by brexit.

There is nothing they are doing now that they could not have done when we were members of the EU.

Life has got harder for them because of the nonsense of brexit. There is no brexit bonus, no good news about brexit.

Delighted that the people of Cornwall have finally decided to buy local.

Excellent.

Anyone who did not expect more beaurocracy was not thinking straight, although it is worse than I expected.

Never mind it will all be worth it when we get the massive economic boost.

This must improve otherwise we are b..gg...d

WWM2 I read your list and thought "Oh s..t". That's appalling.

It's nothing to worry about, though, ladies. Because covid has meant that all the EU restaurants are closed and because they've closed everyone in the EU has stopped eating. It'll be fine once the pandemic is over and they all start eating again...
Those massive drops in food exports have nothing at all to do with Brexit.

vegansrock Fri 26-Mar-21 07:13:54

People in France are still eating, Marie, this has everything to do with Brexit.

Oops. I forgot the sarcasm alert on my post.

Of course they're still eating. Just not eating the foodstuffs we used to export to them. Because of the non tariff barriers that Leavers, and Johnson, and the UK Brexit negotiators brushed aside as being of no significance.

Apologies for misinterpretation.

You just surprised me...

Urmstongran should not have voted "leave" because some politician gave her "a lovely feeling".

Voting is a serious responsibility.

Most of the restaurants around us are doing take away meals and are using sea food and meats such as steak so they must be getting supplies more locally.
Although many more Brits are buying sea food from the Cornish fishermen I doubt the amount sold is as much as they were exporting.
Yesterday Johnson said to the Parliamentary committee that the U.K. obtains over 70% of medication from the EU and 40+% food from there. The only reasons most things are still available is because no loads are being stopped by U.K. customs at the moment and there is no need for all the paperwork needed by U.K. loads going into the EU. This is the choice of the U.K. Govt to waive the forms for EU loads, what happens when these are withdrawn after the extended period?

Why the Brexit deal is a disaster for the City

Jobs and investment are pouring out of London as the economy’s biggest sector waits for clarity on a deal that is anything but finished.
