Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings

Demonic has suggested that Mr Johnson has been not entirely honest about his communications with James Dyson.

I recognise many people believe Mr J was ‘doing his best for the country in a pandemic’ when he offered to sort the tax for Mr Dyson. But, do we want ethical government or not?

It's easy to record speech on a smart phone, you know!

The report I saw said he had 'audio'.

I'd believe anything of a man who could call the 'ventilator challenge' Operation Last Gasp

Years of being a second rate journalist doesn’t create a great politician does it.His head must be full of constantly trying to think up funny little sound bites.

MaizieD Mon 26-Apr-21 12:23:30

It certainly doesn't seem to be full of much else, MayBee...

^Are you implying that the public really does know what's going on, despite earlier claims that the public doesn't care?^

Come on, growstuff, don't try to second guess her. grin

I'm looking forward to the voice of the ordinary voter explaining what it is that is 'going on' that they know about and we don't...

I'm not trying to second guess. I'm trying to make sense of muddled contradictions.

The "public" includes me and I most certainly care. I also don't instantly forget something and accept the next soundbite as truth.

Johnson has said some really appalling things, which make me inclined to believe that he could easily have said what is being claimed.

I'm just so agog to find out what the ordinary, switched off, voter 'knows' is 'going on'.

I've seen lots of suggestions on twitter, but they are from the people, apparently a minority, who do care...

I think part of his problem is that not only does/did Cummings have no loyalty to the Conservative Party or Johnson but Johnson himself has little loyalty to the Tory Party he has created. It is there to serve him and not the other way round.

So, having created what is more like a Court it is no wonder that these people behave more like courtiers, Queens, etc., with patronage playing a great part. This is how Johnson sees himself.

MayBee70 Mon 26-Apr-21 12:52:36

Both of them are in it purely for themselves aren’t they. Why the electorate can’t see that is beyond me. Cummings is cleverer that Johnson, though. Many people have thought that Johnson’s bumbling facade hides an astute political brain but he really is a political straw man.

Smoke and mirrors come to mind.

growstuff Mon 26-Apr-21 13:36:14

Yes Pippa I think that's a fair analysis.

growstuff Mon 26-Apr-21 13:39:00

I think that's true as well MayBee.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Apr-21 13:51:42

So according to the BBC,

Johnson did say “let the bodies pile high”

Anyone care to defend that remark?

Hard to defend WWMk2 but probably someone will be along in a minute to remind us of a bon mot of Harold Wilson.

My goodness, some of you on here attack like piranhas!!

I think I prefer to ‘chat’. These threads are not for the faint hearted!
?

Firstly. I do care. I said so upthread, ages ago.
Second. I still think though that most of the population aren’t that fussed by these ‘smear’ allegations.
Third. I think when I said ‘most of us know’ I meant that the timing of these smears is suspect. An election coming up soon? Anybody know?

The BBC, Kuenessberg and co do not decide who governs this Country - they are not in a position to threaten the Prime Minister.

The British public elect our Government and we have stopped listening/believing the smears, outright lies and constant attacks on Boris!

These people want Sir Kneeling Starmer running the UK the way the socialist London Metropolitan elite want it run... to hell with the Regions - only London matters.

Time they understood why the Red Wall deserted them and gave Boris his 80 seat majority. We are not listening to you and the sooner the BBC is defunded the better, paying for socialist anti UK propaganda day in day out!

MaizieD Mon 26-Apr-21 14:17:29

Do you get your posts straight from the Daily Telegraph, Ug or do you edit them a bit?

Sir Kneeling Starmer

And you have the utter gall to accuse me of being unpleasant...

MayBee70 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:23:19

It isn’t the BBC who decides who is going to run the country. It’s Murdoch.

growstuff Mon 26-Apr-21 14:23:53

I don't suppose the people in Salford's Media City will be too happy if the BBC is defunded.

growstuff Mon 26-Apr-21 14:24:59

I thought nobody cared Urmstongran. It appears you care about people criticising Johnson.

growstuff Mon 26-Apr-21 14:26:10

Sorry Urmstongran but your protestations have an element of squirming about them

GrannyGravy13 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:29:41

So far it is all alleged and he said/she said from a sacked SPAD and a couple of disgruntled MPs when the actual FACTS come out, I and many others will be in a position to make up our own minds.

Kali2 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:32:14

I have to take my hat off to the two people who still have the guts to stick up for Johnson. It really takes some courage in the circumstances- I just do no know how they can't see right through him.

Quite incredible.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:33:34

Johnson is moving heaven and hell to ensure the facts don’t come out though isn’t he?

It is all so simple if Cummings is lying.

Just publish the truth. Could have been done today.

MaizieD Mon 26-Apr-21 14:36:16

It isn’t the BBC who decides who is going to run the country. It’s Murdoch.

Will Murdoch manage to convince tory party members that Gove is the man to elect as the next party leader, though? He does have that little hurdle to jump.

My money is on billionaire Man of the People, Rishi.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:37:57

I can’t see Murdoch supporting Sunak tbh.

MayBee70 Mon 26-Apr-21 14:38:02

Yes. It’ll be interesting to see how he manages to pull that one off.

Urmstongran Mon 26-Apr-21 14:38:03

It does take guts Kali. At present it’s gossip. Let’s wait a while & see the proof.
