Just look at the long campaign against Boris.... Vexatious litigation; secret recordings of private conversations passed to the Guardian; staged confrontations at hospitals (Labour activists); no-deal contingency papers left lying in a pub.
The withdrawal of the whip (from utterly disloyal MPs), etc, was portrayed as democratic outrages with Hammond and Soames feted as martyrs.
Bercow tried to throw the PM to the wolves in the Commons (116 urgent questions!) but had his eye wiped as Boris gave his critics a kicking and the Labourites’ shrieking brought the plaster down from the ceiling.
Then it was Arcuri and Edwardes, false allegations perfectly timed for the Tory conference and the general election.
Since the election and the coronavirus hit us the Opposition haven’t stopped screaming.
When Boris got ill this time last year, you could almost feel their excitement and their hopes rising. Unfortunately for them he recovered, but not before someone - unbelievably - submitted a FOI request to try to find out how ill he was, as he lay in... intensive care!
That’s how low these people stoop. This is probably more of the same.
