Brexit is fast becoming a disaster

HMRC have published some figures to show that food and drink exports fell by 2bn in the first 3 months since Brexit.

Dairy was down a massive 90%? and there were losses across the board.

The figures show that rather it being a teething issue as the Tories would have us believe it is in fact structural and likely to continue unless there is some sort of move towards say the SM.

Me too. Could be a long wait

Hello? Are my posts showing or not? Hello?

Not poppies. Not wreaths.

Umbrellas. Mugs. Scarves. Brooches.

Not poppies. NOT POPPIES.

Oh dear, I seem to have missed one of your posts.

I must shout louder grin

I await comments from Urmstongrand with interest as Frost is, or maybe was, one of her heros.

Urmstongran is not on this thread, why involve her?

Exactly.

I can't speak for Urmstongran but perhaps, like several others, she has decided that a constant stream of remarks like that mean she has left GN.

As a remain voter, I find the personal remarks and sneering unnecessary.

Urmstongran is having a break from GN at the moment (but has said she will definitely be back) so presume that is why she's not joined in this discussion.

Thank you Curlywhirly

Urmstongran has been a prolific poster on the Politics forum - a very energetic defender of Farage, Trump, Brexit, Boris Johnson, this Tory Government etc and that is why she has become conspicuous by her absense.

I may be wrong but think she is on holiday.
In any case, is there an obligation to post?

But not on this thread so I wondered why the sarcastic comment?

MawBe Tue 22-Jun-21 18:23:33

Biba70 also used to be a prolific poster on the Politics treads, especially those concerning Brexit- should her absence likewise be commented on ?

varian Tue 22-Jun-21 18:23:51

I did not make a sarcastic comment, but perhaps it was made by someone who missed Urmstongran

It was indeed Dinahmo

Callistemon Tue 22-Jun-21 18:29:33

Perhaps Urmonstongran is just very much missed for her input then.
She was one of the few remaining posters to offer a different viewpoint as so many have gone.

OMG - if only, if only someone had warned us then we wouldn't be in this mess!

Oh hang on, they did and a surprise it is not!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 22-Jun-21 18:31:05

Varian Sorry but I think it’s exceptionally bad form to discuss a poster who is not involved with a thread.

Dinahmo Tue 22-Jun-21 18:33:37

Callistemon and GG13

I referred to Urmstongran purely because I would be interested in her response to the latest news about Lord Frost, which has been brought into the discussion above. She has mentioned on many occasions that she has put her faith in him and his abilities as a negotiator.

There is no obligation to post a response and since she is on holiday (which I didn't know) there is little likelihood of a reply to my question.

My comment was not intended to be sarcastic and nor is it.

varian Tue 22-Jun-21 18:33:51

Sorry GG13 I had not trawled all the way back to the start of the thread to look for Urmstongran

UK food and drink exports to the EU almost halve in first quarter

There’s b*gger all to be done about it now, but I personally hope for a reconsideration in a couple of decades and a choice to rejoin our partners in Europe.

I am lucky enough not to be too affected by rising food prices but that worries me very much for those who are struggling to feed themselves and their children.

Isn’t there just one Brexit supporter on GN who can tell us the benefits of having left the EU?

Kali2 Tue 22-Jun-21 19:14:57

Many of us have been asking, again and some more - but no- no reply, not one.

I think they've all given up. Because we keep unreasonably asking what the benefits are.

We have to wait and see, remember?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Jun-21 19:24:31

There are no benefits! Of course there isn’t.

vegansrock Tue 22-Jun-21 19:27:14

No they can’t because there aren’t any measurable benefits and they will accuse you of bullying to keep asking. Frost is rapidly being shown to be as dim and useless as the other incompetents in government, btw he is one of the unelected elite Brexiteers were suppose to want to get rid of. The EU have maintained their position despite the nasty name calling and personal attacks on the likes of Angela Merkel and Michel Barnier by the UK media and VL government.
