One law for football fans?

It seems thousands of ticketless football fans are allowed to congregate in London, leaving mountains of rubbish, getting drunk and intimidating others on public transport etc, whilst a few women at a peaceful vigil for a murdered woman are arrested, handcuffed, dragged away by police. Is it one law for football fans and another for women?

We have some new neighbours in our street and tonight there seems to be some sort of housewarming party going on. (We weren’t invited! grin)

This time last year I’d have been concerned. Now, I’m thinking most will probably have been vaxed and if those same people could have met at a Zumba class or a football fan zone, what’s the difference.

Ahem anyone here a Formula One fan like me? I've just watched the opening ceremony at a circuit packed with spectators in Marseille and no doubt more fans locally. Seems it is happening all over.

and good for them- but with those Sainsbury's bags, they are not going to get very far, are they! And how many are there clearing up, out of how many, %entage?

But this is not the point of the OP, not the point at all.

That’s right, criticise somebody making an effort,
But oh dear “With those Sainsbury’s bags etc” Bloody picky or what?
I don’t see any England fans or Pearl clutching grannies offering to help. Sometimes the younger generation can’t get it right in some people’s eyes. ?

Ah Maw, you just can't help it, can you. Attack after attack and some more.

Of course they were not all louts, and wonderful of this handful out of 1000s to come back and pick up litter- they must have been so ashamed at the behaviour of many. But when you are knee deep in a huge area covered with litter- picking a few bits with shopping bags was not going to make much difference. Yes, it showed willing and bravo to those few.

But there were louts there, for sure. And denying this is just nonsense. But it is NOT the point- not the point at all.

We are in a dangerous phase of thise pandemic- almost over if we continue to be very careful, VERY- as this Delta Varian takes hold in so many regions. THAT is the point. Louts or not louts, they just should not have travelled down in the circumstances.

The younger generation in my family, who have had to make massive sacrifices since last March- who have to be tested constantly at school and wear masks- and can't wait to be on holiday and go back to some kind of sort of normal- have told me they were disgusted and so angry about such behaviour.

When we are all back in lockdown - many more will be.

Seems strange for football fans to carry Sainsbury’s bags and have blue gloves with them. Bit PR’ish to me.

Blimey Kali2 you’re cheerful!
I’d rather be optimistic:

Of course. Puts on best Morningside accent:

"Football fans couldn't possibly be shopping at Sainsbury's. And they wouldn't have gloves, would they? I mean, its not like we're in the middle of a pandemic or something"

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Jun-21 14:55:34

MayBee70 it only takes one person to have a pack of plastic gloves, the bags are probably what they’d carried their beer in ?

Should they be Aldi or Lidl bags-or Co-op bags from their last “cerry-oot “ then?
Some people just have to nitpick don’t they?

Marydoll Sun 20-Jun-21 15:05:01

Certainly nit picking! Maw.
