I cannot see how electing a Labour MP in B&S could possibly prevent them from reorganising.

There's a lot invested in this by Starmer and his supporters. They believe they have a winning formula- some might say enrolling a dead woman's sister into the LP so she can stand as MP for her sister's constituency is a bit unsavoury, but it's done. If it's lost Starmer might go.

I have just seen a poll of Labour Party members on Twitter (will try and find the link) and 60+% were in favour of Andy Burnham as leader over Mr.Starmer?

Thanks to the media the public perception of the Labour governments is that Labour is spendthrift, money wasting and incapable of managing the national budget. Goodness, you only have to read some of the ignorant and ill informed comments made about them on this forum. How will that be countered?

Then we have Labour which wants to stop people aspiring to education, good jobs and house ownership (while the critics, from right and left, loudly condemn anyone who has both, but still supports the LP, for not being a 'real socialist')

Go left and the Establishment will do for you.

OTOH, stay centrist looking, don't scare the electorate and implement those outrageous socialist policies once in power.

With a leader like Andy Burnham or someone with genuine labour ideals the country could well turn MaizieD and the results of 2017 could be improved on-result a Labour government which could really change things. There's also a younger generation who don't rely on MSM for their news and opinions.

Well, I’m a lifelong Labour voter and I don’t trust Andy Burnham. Can’t explain why: guess it’s just a gut reaction. I don’t quite get the adulation he gets from people.

Andy Burnham isn’t an MP, so he won’t become the next Labour leader unless he resigns as mayor, then stands in a seat and wins.
I like him, but I don’t believe the country is going to favour a socialist agenda that is overt, which is what he would try to implement. He reminds me of the old school Labour politicians, but the country has moved on.

The tories have taken over the right wing nationalist agenda which appeals to working class Brexitty areas, so I expect the Tories to win, unlike Amersham which is more affluent as more concerned with the local environment.

Working class ˋBrexitty´ voters as you so condescendingly call them , are much more concerned with local issues, pot holes, roads infrastructure, schools, etc. Galloway is only interested in the minority voters, and is pandering only to them and their causes, to win their votes, as if the UK Government can really do anything about Kashmir, or Palestine, the new Israeli government have more chance, and are already moving Jewish settlers from occupied lands, Galloway is not able to do anything either. He’s a dangerous man. From what I’ve read and seen the majority white working class are more interested in what is happening on their own doorsteps, calling them Brexitty only shows your own bias against them. Unfortunately the Labour candidate will be fighting a losing battle with the hardline minority voters.

Lin52, you have a point when you say local voters are more concerned with domestic policy that foreign affairs. That is not to say that they don't have a strong view on what should, or should not, happen in countries abroad but it does not impact on their daily lives in the way local/national issues do. They are voting for their constituency MP, not someone who will be sent out to sort out the world's problems. When elected, that MP will no doubt weigh up the arguments for and against policies abroad and vote accordingly.
I, as a Labour member, do not see why Keir's leadership will be in question if he loses. I have posted before we are not in a normal political situation by any stretch of the imagination and constantly changing horse mid-stream does nothing to help the poor of this country. What will help them is, in the first instance, whittling away at Boris' vast majority so that eventually he will have to fight for and justify every decision. If, by the next election, Keir manages to get us to that position that will be a major achievement. Even better would be a Labour win. I do so hope the voters of Batley and Spen see past the 'divide and rule' politics and vote Labour.
