BlueBelle Mon 19-Jul-21 12:59:53

Just avoid what you dislike
Well I dislike racism but I m buggered if I m going to avoid it
I m going to fight it head on all the time while I have strength in my body
Any company that would employ Farage is off the scale of my dislike, it ll be Katie Hopkins next

Susieq62 Mon 19-Jul-21 13:13:26

Who will be watching Mr Farage then??

LinkyPinky Mon 19-Jul-21 13:16:38

Well, you all seem to watch an awful lot of daytime telly.

MayBee70 Mon 19-Jul-21 13:35:44

We have Sky News on for most of the day. Only started doing so pre referendum but it continued because it’s the easiest way of keeping on top of what’s happening. We combine it with reading The Times and watching Ch4 News. I must subscribe to The Guardian or the i though.

I’ve watched it a few times, usually around 10pm when Dan Wootten is presenting. Quite bemused to see him as only ever noticed him chatting about soaps I think on Lorraine, on the few occasions I’ve seen her programme.
I’m still in two minds,it does feel very new and needs to find it’s niche but I feel it will make a welcome change of view from the mainstream news programmes.

I’ve been watching GBNews for last couple of weeks. Don’t agree with a lot of what they say but it’s interesting to hear different perspectives. Only problem is that certain sections are repeated so I’ll turn it on in the morning and it’ll be the same as the night before. They have had some problems with the sound and that’s been a bit of a turn off.

Pammie1 Mon 19-Jul-21 14:12:23

Of course I’m going to be interested in it’s demise, as imo should all right thinking people.

I think you should re-phrase that to say ‘left thinking people’ - all you’re doing is trying to shut down the debate. The last time I looked, there was still free speech in the UK, although how long that will last in the hands of the ‘woke’ brigade is debatable.

BlueBelle Mon 19-Jul-21 14:16:20

OMG I didn’t realise Laurence Fox was a star presenter no wonder I haven’t watched it what a nasty piece of work he is
Well I hope it drops off the face of the TV as soon as possible we can do with out his sort ranting
Hideous people

JoMarch1962 Mon 19-Jul-21 14:59:45

So very interesting that “right thinking” means “left leaning”, and is often accompanied by a desire to shut down debate. Virtue signalling, being “woke” and the whole shebang of issues that are constantly being rehashed on the Beeb is all very well- I would far rather you signalled virtue than hate- but if you can’t bear to listen to ( and challenge, like a grown up) views that are not your own, you are no better than those you shut down. Try stepping away from dogma, and do your own thinking.

I saw this on Twitter and smiled ruefully. Suspect it'll be deleted though.

JoMarch1962 Mon 19-Jul-21 15:17:25

Absolutely !

lemongrove Mon 19-Jul-21 15:23:30

Aveline ...that all sounds familiar ?

MerylStreep Mon 19-Jul-21 15:25:20

BlueBelle
Laurence Fox has never been a presenter on GB news let alone a star presenter

Alegrias1 Mon 19-Jul-21 15:29:57

Aveline

The right wing guide to online debate:

•State your opinion as if it were the incontrovertible truth.
•If someone disagrees, call them a leftist.
•If they still disagree, call them woke.
•If they still disagree, complain that your freedom of speech is being attacked, say that you expect to be deleted and then disappear off saying you have lots of better things to do.

There, fixed it for you. smile

That doesn’t stop posters from thinking so though Meryl?

MerylStreep Mon 19-Jul-21 15:39:18

The lovely funny Simon McCoy ripping the government apart at the moment. U turns.

Aveline Mon 19-Jul-21 15:43:40

Oh Alegrias is that you being 'right thinking'? grin.
(I really detest the phrase right thinking. It really only means 'thinking the way the person saying it means.')

Alegrias1 Mon 19-Jul-21 15:45:02

It was for balance Aveline, you know that's what posters on here are so keen on wink

MoorlandMooner Mon 19-Jul-21 15:57:46

Please can we stop labelling people. It really doesn't help us understand anything about other's views.

I think if you met me you would find me an alright sort of woman. I try my best to be kind. I'm a bit fat. I swim in the sea every day. I grow my own veg. I cry at Carly Simon songs cos they reminds me of my mum. I'm just me - a human.

On paper I'm a leftist, woke, virtue signalling remoaner.

But my dog likes me, I give money to charity and I'm not all bad. I have stuff to say and like to listen too.

If we judge each other by labels we will never get to know each other.

MerylStreep Mon 19-Jul-21 16:43:17

Nobody on the Katie Hopkins thread could be more insulting about to this woman than Alex Phillips ( on GB News) has been.
Simon McCoy had to shut her up before it got libellous.
Shame most of you missed it. It was brilliant ?

???

Ellianne Mon 19-Jul-21 17:28:31

I'm not entering the politics argument, but just asking, what is wrong with,
then disappearing off saying you have lots of better things to do?
I think I am being courteous when I bow out of a thread saying I have to exercise the dog or pick up the GCs. Otherwise doesn't it look rude or miffy to suddenly cease contributing to a thread?
