Kuenssberg Cummings interview

We just watched this.
DH was annoyed by Cummings but I noticed why he was annoyed.

The classic sign of a liar is that someone who constantly puts their hand or fingers across their mouth when speaking which he did. He also put his fingers on his face, touched his ear (didn't want to hear what Kuenssberg was asking).

When he spoke of how he and his group manipulated Johnson his hands were nowhere near his mouth. Nor were they when he talked about he conned the British public. So much was truth.

He wants to overthrow the government (democracy?.

Respect! to Laura Kuenssberg who skewered him again and again.

Re checking his eyesight, driving when he wasn't well or she wasn't well with a child in the car has been hashed and rehashed so many times on other threads it is becoming irrelevant now.

It was the references to the shadowy group who think they hold the power in this country that is most worrying.

The fact that Cummings received the electorate over Brexit and now seems so contemptuous of the fact that many believed him.

He displays more than arrogance - a brief insight into his mind is terrifying.

Callistemon Wed 21-Jul-21 15:32:02

received should be deceived

montymops Wed 21-Jul-21 15:38:02

Perhaps Deedar you meant the autistic spectrum? In that, I would completely agree. So little self awareness and so little understanding of others - worst of all - absolutely no sense of humour - cold as a dead fish.

25Avalon Wed 21-Jul-21 15:41:23

Callistemon I think the relevance is that even people who previously may have given DC the benefit of the doubt can now see clearly he was not to be trusted then so how can we trust him now? The shadowy group if they exist, if we believe him, would be of concern. As it is I question his mental stability.

annodomini Wed 21-Jul-21 15:44:14

Although the 'we' he spoke of involved no names, I wouldn't be surprised to find - if we ever do - that Michael Give is in it up to his neck.

annodomini Wed 21-Jul-21 15:44:37

Give Gove!

25Avalon Wed 21-Jul-21 15:48:55

They are all DC’s puppets until they wise up or get a new puppet master.

Casdon Wed 21-Jul-21 15:50:54

It looks like he was telling the truth about what Boris said about the over 80s, as there is a text. Boris isn’t denying it.

We do not know who is running our country and what their end goal is but I suspect none of it is in our interests. Where are the politicians with integrity outraged at the claims being made about shady back room shenanigans? Dominic Cummings is a narcissist to me that is clear. He thinks he is more intelligent than he actually is by my observation and seeks to be opaque rather than transparent as a power mechanism. Boris Johnson plays the clown card but is also a narcissist. We the British public are being played like a fiddle. End game has to be money and power. NHS into private hands it's halfway there now. Education, the control of the children's learning in private hands also halfway there. Infrastructure in the hands of foreign investors who do not care about us the British people. Defence ? Hmm follow the money. I don't know what we can do about this as individuals. My vote never counts that's for sure.

Deedaa Wed 21-Jul-21 16:45:32

montymops yes I meant the autistic spectrum. So much I recognised from living with DH for 50 years. In fact the only one of his stories I really believe is the Barnard Castle trip. I went through similar situations with DH. "Let's go for a day out to see if I can manage the driving" was DH all over. Whether it was wise or legal or anything else never came into it, he was only interested in whether he could physically do it. From the time 50 years ago when he drove out of London with his wrist in plaster making me (who knew nothing about driving) change gear for him it was one "adventure" after another.

I believe we ought to question the mental stability of Boris Johnson primarily. He has no leadership qualities - demonstrably through the pretence of the "Downing Street Pilot Test Programme" - that excuse fizzled out quickly.

His reliance on popularity of personality alone, and his utter dependence on some moronic 3-word slogans is terrifying.

He is, as Ian Blackford said at PMQs today - not fit for purpose.

I might have put it more diplomatically - the job is quite beyond him, both practically and intellectually.

Someone will say that that plays into the Cummings idea - well maybe, just maybe, Johnson's own track record provides Cummings with that evidence.

There is a thread running today
‘How did a large snail get in to the toilet’
I thought it was going to be the same subject.

LauraNorder grin

We once wondered why the toilet wouldn't flush properly and found a snake in the cistern!

Was it a water snake?

I do agree with you, Callistemon.

Do look at Tufton St. There are all kinds of worrying connections; not least with the Elliots, who are arecognised 'power couple'. It was Elliot who employed Cummings torun his Leave campaign. If you look at all the organisations which run from there, they're very suspect with opaque funding and no benevolent intent.

Callistemon Wed 21-Jul-21 17:06:34

I will take a look, thanks MaizieD

Callistemon Wed 21-Jul-21 17:11:45

I recognise some names, notably from BBC Question Time.

Alegrias1 Wed 21-Jul-21 17:17:47

I just looked up Tufton Street, never heard of it before.

Crikey confused

Dinahmo Wed 21-Jul-21 17:23:07

With regard to the shadowy group, I'm sure that it exists. Rees Mogg and his cohorts who were so against the EU because of the changes to tax laws in addition to the owners of the Mail, Sun etc who are not resident in the UK for tax purposes. The Barclay brothers (if they still own the Telegraph), Murdoch and Lord Rothermere are all non doms.

Westnosewheatie is accurate in her analysis of the situation.

Here's Zoe Williams view, amusing as always.

Horrible little man with a real chip on his shoulder about getting the sack for his incompetance. Grow up and shut up.

Sparklefizz Wed 21-Jul-21 18:25:27

He's a Scorpio birthsign - the scorpion has a sting in its tail. Just sayin '

curlz Wed 21-Jul-21 18:27:49

I’m not a Tory supporter but I think Cummings is a slime ball

Maremia Wed 21-Jul-21 19:18:29

Yes, like many of you I would like to know who 'we' are. Wish she had explored the Russian interlude. Don't think LK did a good enough job. Too much of her own opinion in it, and I don't think it was because she was commenting on the viewers' behalf. Felt that she kept shutting him down, when it would have been better to have heard the complete thread of his thoughts. Was that deliberate sabotage? Like Dinahmo, wonder how much was lost in the edit?

In the insufferably smug pleasure he takes from his Brexit ‘win’, Cummings seems to ignore that he helped install the most venal, incompetent, ignorant and dishonest twats in the history of British govts in order to implement it.
As fuck-ups go, it’s historic Mr Supergenius.

Parsley3 Wed 21-Jul-21 19:58:18

I Googled Tufton Street and there is plenty of information about the groups that meet behind there. We are being taken for mugs if these “ think tanks” are the real power behind government decisions. Say it isn’t so, please someone.

Gwyneth Wed 21-Jul-21 20:03:32

Can’t believe a word Cummings says.

Callistemon Wed 21-Jul-21 20:08:40

We do not know who is running our country and what their end goal is but I suspect none of it is in our interests.
Wetnosewheatie I think that is true for much of the world. We've always known that it is not politicians, governments, who run the world and make the decisions, not even our Parliament. It is run by shadowy figures unknown to most of us.
