I have discovered an advantage of Brexit

You get your passport stamped when you enter and leave EU countries.

Long ago in my youth, my passport were covered with entry and exit stamps, mostly Europe, a few more exotic. I was very proud of them. However in recent years, now I avoid air travel, my passport has gone its full life without any stamps in it.

But 10 days ago we went to France and my passport now has two stamps in it and will gather more, because we go there regularly. It will begin to look like a passport should.

Why am I not surprised by the number of whingers who still wish to be over lorded by non-elected anti-British losers.
Especially as most of the whingers seem to have a poor knowledge of the English language.

I can see at least two grammatical errors in the first sentence and a further two debatable points; that's pretty good for 21 words. Maybe it's time to brush up your knowledge.

I wonder how they do on German?

Or Italian? (See other thread, apologies, TAAT)

Because the non-elected anti-British losers seem to do a far better job of it than the elected government.

We’ve got plenty of unelected losers Cummings, Frost , the House of Lords. The elected ones we’ve got must be the biggest muppets though.
The EU not all unelected btw, some people have a tenuous grasp of facts and are also unable to spell common non English phrases

Not clever, not funny. Check your own spelling.

We were part of the EU, our legislators were at the heart of the organisation and we had elections for the British members of the EU parliament.

One of the first things the British government did after the Brexit vote was to pass an Act of Parliament consolidating almost all the EU legislation into British law.

Why did the British Parliament do that?

I am no whinger, I accepted the referendum result as soon as it was announced, but that doesn't mean I cannot draw attention to the problems being caused by Brexit. There would have been problems which ever way the referendum went.

When anyone anywhere starts quibbling about spelling/grammar or some other petty aspect of a serious problem, then you know they are loosing the argument.

Why should you buy foreign pain for a French House ????

Alegrias1 Mon 06-Sept-21 16:59:50

Quoi??

M0nica Mon 06-Sept-21 17:53:36

I cannot see any reference to 'foreign pain for a French house' in this thread.

ButI could hazard a guess it is foreignpaint for a French house, because French paint is pretty poor quality and the range of colours available is very limited.

We now buy all our paint in England when we want to redecorate our French house.

Foreign holidays do not necessarily include a high mileage. Someone in Yorkshire holidaying in Cornwall will drive further than we do when we go to France.

We rarely fly and usually holiday, except for France, by train.

Your German is wrong,

Alegrias1 Mon 06-Sept-21 18:47:55

Je pensais que c'etait du pain français, pour une maison française?

Good point.

Sometimes I don't even type because I'm so angry at some of the posts. What happened to patriotism. I voted to remain but the vote went the other way but I still live in what is supposed to be the United Kingdom. Although it's more like 4 different countries now.

Alegrias1 Tue 07-Sept-21 08:17:57

It is four different countries. ?

M0nica Tue 07-Sept-21 08:27:23

Patriots speak up when they see their country under threat. It does not mean my country, right or wrong.

Urmstongran Tue 07-Sept-21 08:41:29

Surely Mantel realises we are still in Europe? ?

Very well put M0nica

M0nica You go girl! If getting stamps on your passport gives you joy (and why shouldn't it) in this doom and gloom existance at the moment, you carry on celebrating. In fact, get as many stamps as possible before BoJo and his cohorts decided on the next series oflockdowns.

Jaibee007 Wed 08-Sept-21 00:16:41

Are you insane?

Lovetopaint037 Wed 08-Sept-21 00:37:39

This subject just wants to make me cry.

NotSpaghetti Wed 08-Sept-21 00:52:02

So has anyone genuinely found any benefits of Brexit?

Jackiest Wed 08-Sept-21 03:33:12

Yes we have taken back control of our borders, oh but so has France.

vegansrock Wed 08-Sept-21 06:18:53

This is a perfect metaphor for Johnson and co - water treatment companies are told to dump raw sewage as Brexit disrupts delivery of the chemicals needed to treat it.
I remember raw sewage being dumped in our waterways until the EU rules made us
clean it up - now we don’t have people to - what a Brexit bonus.

vegansrock Wed 08-Sept-21 06:49:20

Now we don’t have to - we can get rid of all those pesky EU environmental regulations- people will get the shit that was voted for- literally.
