Well I'm from a working class background but please Angela Rayner having a go at Raab did herself and Labour no favours.

Blossoming Thu 23-Sept-21 17:56:49

Actually much older than wither of them Grandma70s smile

Blossoming Thu 23-Sept-21 17:57:09

Either, not wither!

And there's a huge difference in the accents in the different boroughs there is and you’re right growstuff. Stockport, like Sale, Altrincham, Urmston (ahem!), Bowdon are south of the borough with less harsh accents, whereas Oldham, Rochdale and others are more ‘northern’.

As you say, it doesn’t matter a jot. But her chippy style is grating.

If anything she does a great disservice to the Labour Party. Left wing envy and class wars do not win votes. A massive embarrassment at every level. If Sir Keir had the balls he would have sacked her but he did not and will pay for it at the ballot box. In my opinion.

Galaxy Thu 23-Sept-21 18:19:30

Lifestyle choices. Bugger me. That's my northern attitude coming out. At least she brought up her children, rather than the lifestyle choices made by Johnson which ensured that didnt happen.

eazybee Thu 23-Sept-21 18:29:17

What a pity she didn't make a lifestyle choice to get some education.
Her lack of it is very clear.

^Uncouth means lacking refinement, grace, manners, sophistication, culture.^

Oh dear, I appear to be uncouth.

On the other hand I am not lacking in intellect, education, empathy, social conscience, generosity.

Excellent post Blossoming

A bit harsh to talk about lifestyle choices - she was only 16 when she had her son.

Bozzer was caught unawares by Savannah Guthrie in the US when she got him to admit that he had 6 children - an admission that has so far eluded the British press.

Now expecting his 7th child.

That's a lifestyle choice.

MissAdventure Thu 23-Sept-21 18:45:46

And with all his privilege, too!
So much for his education!

What an appalling comment.

I think a well educated man in their 40s (now 50s) with no learning difficulties or addiction issues being unaware of contraception is much much worse than a girl of 15 not being as knowledgeable.

Touché JanetJudge couldn't agree more!

I had to look up the first working class MP from the NE. Thomas Burt was elected to parliament in 1874. He came through the Miners Union and had worked down the mine sincehe was 12. Extraordinary that working class people are still regarded as unsuitable to govern!!!!

lemongrove Thu 23-Sept-21 19:13:54

What do Johnson’s children have to do with the thread subject, Angela Rayner?
Are they being used ( in GN parlance) as dead cats or look! There’s a squirrel?
It’s no use either, getting hot under the collar with other posters about Rayner’s speech, you either think it’s great or you really don’t.

trisher who has said on here, that working class people are unsuitable to govern?

Galaxy Thu 23-Sept-21 20:02:42

Er because Angela Rayners decisions about having a child at 16 were brought up confused

MissAdventure Thu 23-Sept-21 20:26:54

Her life choices were questioned.

Angela Rayner's mother was unable to read or write. She's a done incredibly well for someone who had none of the advantages many of us take for granted.

A lack of education is not a clear as a lack of humanity. kindness or an open mind.

Urmstongran Thu 23-Sept-21 22:23:49

I could be harsh back Riverwalk and say Boris’ progeny didn’t require state help in the form of benefits and/or social housing. The taxpayer who plays ‘dad’ in loco parentis in so many cases. No wonder it’s a lifestyle choice sometimes.

JaneJudge Thu 23-Sept-21 22:29:56

I think that is unfair, she was under the age of consent

GillT57 Thu 23-Sept-21 22:32:18

Bloody hell. A few people showing their true views on this thread, and it is not pleasant. Eazybee in particular. What a vile comment, you should be ashamed of yourself, but probably won't

Gwyneth Thu 23-Sept-21 22:39:19

I’ve never heard Angela Rayner speak in the Commons without screeching. It really affects my tinnitus so I am unable to listen to her actual words.

Galaxy Thu 23-Sept-21 22:41:56

Johnsons behaviour will have damaged his children though but presumably that's not important. After all they are only children not as important as money.

JaneJudge Thu 23-Sept-21 22:45:01

Angela is a Gran too. Maybe someone from GNHQ could link to to the talk guidelines or ethos or whatever

growstuff Thu 23-Sept-21 22:55:00

Why don't people just come out with what they really think? They think Angela Rayner is common and a slut.
