Any fool who follows politics knows that it will be quick. Thatcher being a prime example.
But I disagree with your premise that Johnson is finished
Neen
No I think a lot will want him to stay but I think he will want to go. He's hardly had much time with Winfred I can't imagine. The late updates and early neetings.
The accountability alone would frighten the life out of me . With Brexit and a pandemic, he has for sure earnt his money and how he hasn't had an anxiety heart attack is beyond me. Your never please all the people all the time and I like the fella .
How on earth people can say they'd have done better in a pandemic, ( rolls eyes ) . He did the best he could with what information he got given and he doesn't make the final decisions, he has advisories.
I'm not in to politics to be honest and don't understand them but yup I think he'll want to go but will stay . Poor sod
Are you aware that his lot have been in power for 11 years and could have prepared for many of these things? Johnson has been an MP for 20 years. He could have been pushing his party to get ready for the emergencies that those who are experts in these things had told us were coming.
It isn't that they didn't know and could not have prepared. It was that he didn't care. He was too busy turning the party upside down for something he was never sure he believed in so that he could be King Conservative.
I doubt that we have ever had a more arrogant, less moral PM. He is a pantomime actor who only wants the lead, He doesn't care who or what he damages to get there.
As Matthew Parris, former Conservative MP, wrote in The Times: Incompetence is not funny. Policy vacuum is not funny. Administrative sloth is not funny. Breaking promises is not funny. A careless disregard for the truth is not funny. Creeping ambition in a jester’s hat is not funny.
This was written in March 2016 before Johnson was Prime Minister. It was known what he was like but his party backed him. It is his characteristic and the overweening need to "win" rather than to represent democratically that has done the damage. He certainly did not do this on his own but he sent the people to their death and this country to a point where it has to be rescued from destruction.

Johnson's just wants good press.
Though front-line fighters knew
Someone had blundered.
They tried to make reply,
We tried to reason why,
But the relatives do cry,
As in the Vale of Death
The finest were sundered.
Anyone read the reviews of M. Barnier's memoirs on the British approach to the Brexit negotiations? There is a very good extensive review and interview in The Observer today.
I was reminded of the saying 'Revenge is a dish best served cold'

Thanks for this.
So what future do you foresee for Johnson once he gets stabbed in the back by those who appointed him for a specific purpose. Genuine question.
Just imagine if Michel Barnier becomes the president of France. I bet he loathes Johnson even more than Macron does!
Barnier would run rings around Johnson. He has done it once, He will do it again.
Very unlikely that Barnier will get anywhere near. Pécresse and Bertrand are far more likely to get through. Barnier is not actually very well known in France.
I think Johnson will go either because being PM is too much like hard work or because the Tory party finally admits that he is a liability and gets rid of him. The longer he stays in office the more ill-informed and undiplomatic he appears to be.
No serious politicians are going to have any time for him are they?
So much wishful thinking on these pages!?
He’s not going anywhere soon.Remember the confident predictions that he would be out by last Christmas? I do.

I don't. If any "predictions" that Johnson would be "gone by Christmas" were made on here, you should quote them. It needs to be quite a few to make you "grin" honest. This government has lost the majority of its "trust" capital. So have many on here that support it; a little honest quoting would help.
What I do remember is the chaos last year, running up to Christmas. And here we are again. If no one else remembers that, I will find quotes.
So how do you think he will go lemongrove?
A revered elder statesman remembered for his honesty, probity in office, seriousness, work ethic and statesmanlike demeanour?
Now that would be wishful thinking! ???
you your
No, he will be like Cameron, seen as another shyster, who has to stoop very low to make any money because no decent company will want to be associated with him.
M0nica

He's a PM M0nica that position has currency. Do you really think people in business will turn their back on that?
I dont.
Your forgetting the financial rise of T Blair.
Well, it seems that Cameron is going to get away with what appears to be at the very least seriously unethical behaviour, and Johnson has been equally disastrous. But they have friends in the right places so will do very nicely thank you, despite these scandals.
Tony Blair had a great deal to offer and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is held, by those who can get their head out of the sand, in high esteem. He went off an built this up himself.
You can hardly put Cameron or our little Trumette in the same box.
The TBIfGC is held in high esteem
As with everything it depends who you ask.
But I'm not sure if my head is in or out by your standards
Where is Johnson by the way - lying low?
Riverwalk He is probably preparing meaningless platitudes, half-baked ideas and not very witty epigrams in Latin and Greek for his speech to the party faithful at conference.
Though come to think of it a week in advance is jolly early to one's prep.
?
.... to do one's prep

Yes lemongrove I do remember several on here predicting that Boris would be gone by Christmas, or certainly in the New Year, I posted something similar earlier.
But PippaZ I cannot recall which thread it was on, so won’t be doing links to it. The fact you cannot remember doesn’t mean we made it up.
We didn’t.
If he Mr.Johnson gets fuel in the filling stations, food on shelves and Turkeys on the menus for Christmas Day I would be surprised if he is going to be usurped anytime soon.
