Does anyone here believe, as I do, that Johnson is finished (and I am sure HE does know himself)

All the signs are there, no?

So much wishful thinking on these pages!?
He’s not going anywhere soon.Remember the confident predictions that he would be out by last Christmas? I do.

You didn’t make this up lemongrove! I’m another one who remembers the fervent wishful thinking on here about Boris’ perceived lack of months in No. 10.

Tempus narrabo.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Sept-21 15:22:05

lemongrove and Urmstongran the hopeful predictions of when Mr.Johnson will be leaving office have been constant since the day the Conservatives were elected with an eighty seat majority.

Those supporters of Labour, Lib Dem’s etc must be extremely frustrated that there appears to be no credible /electable opposition.

JenniferEccles Mon 27-Sept-21 15:24:35

Somebody asked where the PM is at the moment.

Well I hope he is taking a little bit of time to properly grieve for his mother who died last week if you remember.

He was very close to her and protective too as his father by all accounts, didn’t treat her well at all.

Yes lemongrove I do remember several on here predicting that Boris would be gone by Christmas, or certainly in the New Year, I posted something similar earlier.

But PippaZ I cannot recall which thread it was on, so won’t be doing links to it. The fact you cannot remember doesn’t mean we made it up.

We didn’t.

But when you are virtually accusing people just to make it sound good from your point of view, I really don't have to believe it - and I don't - without proof.

You wish. Again be careful you don’t get what you wish for but it’s not going to happen any day soon.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 27-Sept-21 15:29:40

JenniferEccles I also hope he is being able to grieve for his mother. For anyone whoever they may be losing a parent is devastating.

The 'signs', if any, will surely come at the tory party conference this w/e. Nothing to do with the Labour Party. If the tory party has enough parliamentarians of integrity this should become apparent. If it has not then things are even worse than I feared.

CoolCoco Mon 27-Sept-21 17:00:00

I also remember many Brexit fans predicting that the EU would collapse as they would all follow the UK vote.

MaizieD Mon 27-Sept-21 17:31:34

I don't think he'll stand much of a chance if he can't get Christmas done...

There was a thread exactly a year ago, predicting that Johnson would be gone by ( last) Christmas....ho ho ho!??

The thread was entitled ‘Boris’ on Tue 28th Sept.

lemongrove Mon 27-Sept-21 17:38:24

Or 29th Sept ?but 2020 and September.

lemongrove Mon 27-Sept-21 17:40:35

I remember saying that if he did go ( not that I believed it for a minute, PM’s don’t go easily!) then I hoped Jeremy Hunt would take over.

lemongrove Mon 27-Sept-21 17:53:51

If anyone can be bothered to google am sure there are other threads on the same subject....

TopsyIrene06 Mon 27-Sept-21 18:00:44

I think he is attending his mothers funeral today. I thought I heard Rachel Johnson say so on the radio last night.

It’s up to you what you believe PippaZ, of course.

I can not understand how someone who was such a good journalist, erudite, intelligent and with such a good grasp of the subject he was reporting on turn into a bumbling idiot.
He is not helped by the members of the cabinet who appear to have a poor grasp of their responsibilities and a total lack of the knowledge required to fulfil them.
The present government incompetence with regards to net zero, the ending of lockdown, getting civil servants back to work, immigration and so on and so on, is the result of MPs who have never worked in the real world. Public school, Oxford and PPE degree should not guarantee a position in government. This applies to all political parties, Labour and Liberals are just as bad in this respect.

Net Zero in particular has been announced and a vote passed in Parliament by people living in cloud cuckoo land. What is worse is that the opposition parties are also living there.
We need people who understand technology and science in the government to bring some sanity to these proposals.

Racingsparrow, was he such a good journalist? He lost jobs because he made stories up and told lies //www.business-standard.com/article/international/from-journalist-to-uk-pm-boris-johnson-s-career-summed-up-by-the-numbers-119072400158_1.html

If you take a narrow view ,such as this article, you could find mistakes and stupid things done by most politicians or even by most people. It is too easy to find faults and too hard to find the best in people. I am not a fan of Boris and I know he is not perfect but he was needed to give the push to get us out of Europe. There are many many faults with the deal we got and the government has not capitalised on opportunities we have now we have left the European Union. This is mainly the fault of the idiot politicians on all sides of the political spectrum. Name me one politician who you think could get us out of the mess this country is in.

MayBee70 Mon 27-Sept-21 20:19:27

But he’s the one that got us into it in the first place.

PippaZ Mon 27-Sept-21 20:32:35

He did, indeed MayBee. Given time I think almost any politician other than Boris could unravel the mess - but we will take years to recover from this government. Our children will be referring back to it for decades.

M0nica Mon 27-Sept-21 20:39:07

He was regularly criticised for fabrications and untruths, but Johnson was never one to let the truth get in the way of a good story.
No good journalist regularly fabricates stories and writes things that are wrong. No good journalist gets the sack for making things up.

Yes, anyone can make mistakes. But these aren't mistakes these are deliberate lies and untruths, told again and again and again.

Neither side showed up with any honour in the Brexit referendum. Boris just determined to get us out at ny price, after manufacturing cliff-edge moments. He didn't give a toss about any of the issues, he was prepared to let everything else go hang, as long as the history books said he was the one that sealed the deal

What is happening now is that the chickens ar coming home to roost. The botched Northern Ireland deal, the great deal with the US that isn't. Problem after problem, all because of Boris's posturing.
