The PM has said "big, bold decisions" are needed" and it would be interesting to hear what Conservative voters are hoping for.

I seem to remember that Boston and Lincolnshire were the biggest leave voters.

I assume that they also thought that there were sufficient pickers raring to pick up the slack once the Europeans returned to where they were more welcomed.

There is so much you could say isn’t there?

Well they must have pickers, much of our plentiful local produce comes from there. Perhaps they weren’t welcome with the increase in drunkenness, peeing in the streets and stabbing

Should say some, otherwise there’ll be another accusation laid at my door!!!!!

Alegrias1 Sat 09-Oct-21 08:56:18

That article is dangerous speculation and lies whipped up by a member of UKIP. No basis whatsoever for her claims.

So if the people of Lincolnshire believed it, more fool them. And us.

Good heavens! We can manage that here in the NE with our very own locals...no need for EU workers.. ?

MaizieD Sat 09-Oct-21 09:08:12

P.S Alegrias is right. The article is nonsense. You only have to read its date to know why it was published.

I don’t think I sound left wing Kali2. I’m working class as were my parents. Brought up in a rented house in Old Trafford. Went to a non fee- paying grammar school. Joined Unison when I worked within the NHS and remained a member for over 30 years. I just happen to believe in fairness.

I’m not a natural Tory. I voted for Blair in the past. I voted for Boris because he was the only candidate who unequivocally promised to respect the result of the Brexit referendum.

Kali2 Sat 09-Oct-21 09:40:33

Yes, I am fully aware of that.

If you only voted Tory and Johnson for Brexit- I hope you feel good about it, and will never regret it.

Urmstongran Sat 09-Oct-21 10:11:54

I hope so too Kali2. I voted in good faith (as did everyone) according to my conscience. I researched, read a lot of articles from various sources and experts in their fields. I wasn’t influenced by Facebook (I have never joined).

Even the experts disagree! Even now. Time will tell I suppose.

Nah, not really.

We knew that. And your point is?

Just reminding some folks one of the reasons people voted leave.

Oh, I see.

So how does a big economic block composed of 27 countries function without rules etc

What, that the EU laws prevent politicians having influence over judicial appointments? Something that they signed up for when they joined the EU? Seems pretty sensible to me.

I was just thinking when the UK starts getting to be the envy of the world will all the remainers stop moaning. I for one am glad that we are out of the EU. You can stick what the rest of Europe thinks of us especially France.

EU law has primacy over national law some folks were not happy about this, me included.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Oct-21 11:04:27

I suppose that what is giving you the jitters is “law having primacy” but I would have thought you running a business would understand that more than most. It gives every business in the EU the security of a level playing field.

That has been stripped away now and our businesses are really struggling.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 09-Oct-21 11:05:41

And you must know that phrase only relates to business law surely!!

It has never had jurisdiction over domestic law ever ever ever.

Yes, yes if that happens, I will stop moaning telling the truth.

If that happens, will we be getting free tickets to watch the show of flying pigs, or will they all have been culled by then?

Do you not like the French then? You'll be eating their pork soon.

Do you really think that every business in the EU had/has a level playing field ?

In law - yes. If they don’t think that they do they have recourse to the ECJ, and do so at a very regular rate.

Whereas now we're in the drainage ditch at the bottom of the field, trying not to sink.

Ah yes, thanks. Yes THAT will solve all our problems!
