Is this a humiliation for Glasgow? ?

Strikes by binmen, piles of rubbish (and rats) in the streets, road-blocking protests and hotel rooms priced at £1,400 a night set to cast shadow over UN Climate Change Conference which starts on 31 October. Maybe it’s a ‘trick’ for Halloween ?

Casdon Thu 21-Oct-21 14:35:30

The conference will go well.
The senior delegates will be protected from any issues outside the conference as they always are, and fortunately Scotland has the lowest Covid rates in the UK at the moment.

Me too, Granniesunite.
That's sweeping statement about unwelcoming Scots on GN.
I can't say I have seen many, but I have seen a good few unpleasant comments directed at the Scots.

Alegrias1 Thu 21-Oct-21 14:40:22

Here is my observation. (Sorry Granniesunite, I'll stop after this smile)

I'd like you all to imagine me saying, I know all about Harrogate (random choice) I have a friend from Harrogate and more friends from Yorkshire. They all moved to Lancashire thank goodness, they're thankful for that.

I'd never want to go to Yorkshire, a few people from Yorkshire were rude to me once.

I'm off to heat up my haggis and open my Irn Bru. grin If I can avoid the rats.

Granniesunite Thu 21-Oct-21 14:43:29

You’re making me jealous. I’ve no Iron Bru left.

I can’t do emojis. So picture a smile.

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 14:48:16

Remember to be responsible by recycling the Irn Bru container and bagging your rubbish responsibly, Alegrias or you may be blamed for the rat infestation! ?

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 14:49:21

Granniesunite, there appears to be a shortage. I'm not telling you where my stash is hidden!

Granniesunite Thu 21-Oct-21 14:52:32

Recycling will never be the same again*Marydoll*!

Granniesunite Thu 21-Oct-21 14:53:28

It’ll be in amoung that stash of craft stuff you have hidden away…

Oh, you are so wrong! I hate the stuff andwould never have it in my sanctuary! I keep it for when my children visit.

Concerned about stabbings in Glasgow? Lucky this shindig is not being held in London, Stab Capital of the UK.

My DH was born and brought up in Glasgow. Up till a few years ago he was frequently through there on business. However, he had to go through to Glasgow last week and was genuinely shocked at the state of it. He said the streets were dirty and rubbish strewn and was very disappointed at his 'dear green place' in such a terrible condition. What's gone wrong? There are petitions to sack their council leader I see. A bad time for such dirty linen in public. A bad time for poor Glasgow. sad

I am hoping to visit Glasgow next year. I really want to see The Burrell Collection before I run out of time. It’s many years since I was there (apart from passing through on my way north) and I’m sure there will be many changes.

Ladies, shall we talk about Frankie Vaughan?

(Another coded Weegie Message, like the Tims smile)

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 15:13:40

Blossoming, the Burrell Museum is being refurbished and is behind schedule, due to Covid.
My future DIL ( the one who got my craft stash) is heavily involved in this. It sounds as if it will be worth visiting!

*Tim obviously should be tin

Tim means empty is Scotland lets just hope the bins are tim in time .

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 15:24:25

Alegrias, I had forgotten about Frankie.

We had better be careful, this thread is in danger of becoming quite cliquey and that is not in the spirit! Of GN. ?

I'm awaiting Urms return, with anticipation. She is out for lunch, I hope she returns in a mellow frame of mind.

Am awa ben the hoose, I huv a delivery tae unpack an youse yins are keeping me back!

Blossoming Thu 21-Oct-21 15:24:33

Thanks Marydoll I’ll make sure to check it’s fully open. I think I will need a few days to see it all, as my mobility is not so good.

I’m not sure the Tims will like being described as ‘empty’ FloraDora ..

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 15:26:17

Tim means empty is Scotland lets just hope the bins are tim in time . I don't think it's that tim.

Marydoll Thu 21-Oct-21 15:29:05

Blossoming, they are trying to make it much more accessible for everyone. I will keep you up to date. I'm hoping to blag a visit to the opening. It's not far from me.
We could have a GN meetup for coffee!

Alegrias1 Thu 21-Oct-21 15:30:12

Blossoming hope you get to the Burrell and enjoy your visit.

Callistemon Thu 21-Oct-21 15:43:44
