Needs a complete overhaul.

Change our laws? Or at least alter the terms and conditions we currently offer.

They were coming over in droves when we did have the ‘goodwill’ as you term it from our neighbours and partners.The camps in Calais and other places were there for years with the migrants trying any way they could to get here.
They certainly didn’t wish to stay in France! Still don’t.

But this issue like Brexit does not split nicely down party lines. Voters will have very strong views on this and party loyalties will count for nothing. It's not just nasty tories who want very strict boarder controls.

Although he might not win - Farage would seriously put enough conservative MP's at risk of losing their seats to make Boris do something .... similar to Brexit.

He couldn't even win a seat in Thanet which is Brexit central. Voters in this country maybe don't think overly carefully before they vote,may vote Tory or Labour "because they always have" but thankfully, even Farage is a step too far. He is nothing more than a nasty old white man who stirs up racists.

His appeal for asylum was rejected in 2014 and not 2008 apparently.

Our asylum system is not fit for service.

Trouble is Brexit has made this situation worse. It was won on a promise to take control of our borders, even though more migrants came here from non EU countries than EU ones and little had been done to control this. France actually takes more asylum seekers than the U.K. as does Germany and Sweden , so the idea they are “all coming here” is erroneous. Brexit broke all existing controls so no reason to expect EU countries to stop any asylum seekers from travelling to the U.K. and the idea that any country can patrol 100s of miles of coastline day and night is ridiculous. Personnel had been cut from all areas of public service, so no hope of swift processing of asylum claims, meanwhile no ID system means it’s much easier to work illegally in the U.K. The expectation that a Tory government , who have slashed spending on everything over the past 10 years, will suddenly find an efficient and workable answer to this problem is a joke, which like the PMs jokes, is not funny.
