Hopefully some leadership on display.

Is Boris Johnson pompous ??

Grany Mon 13-Dec-21 20:20:06

There is no way I would have been elected leader If I told the truth.

avitorl Mon 13-Dec-21 20:20:34

I can't watch Boris Johnson without feeling ashamed that his is our PM but Starmer came across as intelligent, articulate and looked smart too, what a difference to see.

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 20:20:39

Probably, underneath the blustering, blithering, umming and arrhing.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 20:21:54

I disagree MissA. Tonight was NOT the moment to be wishing everyone a “happy Christmas”. It jarred, definitely. It was not the moment. Duh.

He wants to come across as the new Churchill but has ended up as a Sir Les Patterson lookalike!

yes, he really is!

Poor old Keir. I didn’t realise he came across that badly but I did miss his little broadcast tonight. Do you think he’s modelling himself on Barry Humphries then?

It'll be interesting to see how the polls go after tonight, eh, Urmston?
We all seem to have a different take on it.

Ah Edna, I see. Well it takes all sorts and we are an inclusive country.

This is from earlier today. The tide has now turned by the looks of it.

So tonight was about capitalising on that, I'd imagine.
Softly, softly, catchee monkey.

JaneJudge Mon 13-Dec-21 20:32:26

There is, perhaps, no more dangerous man in the world than the man with the sensibilities of an artist but without creative talent. With luck such men make wonderful theatrical impresarios and interior decorators, or else they become mass murderers or critics

EllanVannin Mon 13-Dec-21 20:39:07

Really and truthfully, Starmer didn't say anything much different from BJ in his address. It isn't all about Tory lies and the hypocrisy that goes with it, breaches of covid rules or even EU membership.

If Labour want to get a foothold they should address the gas and electricity prises which are rising, our multi-faceted housing crisis, upgrades of our local and public services, how to combat violence, fairness and rights in the workplace and global warming.

So really nothing that's much different to the Conservatives, nothing to inspire the young people and no vision of a fairer society.

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 20:41:04

He just emphasised that we should do as we're asked.
He didn't put a foot wrong, as far as I see it.
Very well played.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 20:47:03

I suppose tonight wasn’t a party political broadcast EV. (Even though there were shades ... ‘you can trust us etc). Had to like how his UK flag is more vibrant these days too! You are quite right though (for when there is a PPB).. We need clear wide blue sea between Keir and Boris.

Otherwise what’s the point?

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 20:51:35

I never trust the polls MissA. They are rarely right.
Look at Brexit!
And Dimbleby’s face at 5am after the referendum ... ?

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 20:54:32

I remember that!
What a shock.

JaneJudge Mon 13-Dec-21 20:58:47

Jamie Oliver has just said ^From my family, to yours - have a lovely Chritmas

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 21:02:07

I’ve noticed some of Starmer’s supporters spell Keir incorrectly.
?
C’mon people if you’re going to vote for him .... ‼️

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 21:03:04

KEIR STATMER's speech to the nation on Covid has been unpicked by Beth Rigby on Sky News for being "extremely political."
(Not my spelling mistake!)

JaneJudge Mon 13-Dec-21 21:03:51

cheap to mock a dyslexic Urm, go to your room

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 21:08:09

Sweet of Jamie O JaneJudge and appropriate at this time of year after his SHOW.

He wasn’t addressing the nation, about a serious development affecting us all.
Keir Starmer hit a wrong note tonight. It happens.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 21:09:15

Who’s dyslexic?

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 21:09:59

I think he hit a resounding high note.
Just one of those ones that aren't audible to our ears.

Urmstongran Mon 13-Dec-21 21:14:04

Beth Rigby. Oh yes.
The presenter who flouted lockdown rules with Kay Burley and got a suspension for so doing.
I wonder what her take on the rules are? Bet she doesn’t ask Boris any searching questions. He might be squeaky clean by comparison.
