Hopefully some leadership on display.

I will say this for KS - he has asked his MPs to vote with the government whenever it has been a covid issue that is in the interests of the country. He has not played politics with the pandemic. Good for him.

But he does lack charisma, which sadly now is what politicians are judged on. Boris has committed a whole raft of acts that lack integrity, but still he hangs on.

Personally I think KS just needs to stand there and list them all in the H of C without comment.

Unfortunately he can address the nation as much as he wants, but as he is not the PM (and as much as Mr.Johnson is unpopular the Conservatives still have a stinking majority) it is just hot air

GrannyGravy13 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:44:30

Oops apt typo*stinking should have been *stonking ???

Elegran Mon 13-Dec-21 12:46:08

Many would say that you were right first time. GrannyGravy13

GillT57 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:46:28

I think stinking was more appropriate GG13!

Alegrias1 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:47:57

I'm going to assume that Starmer is going to tell us that for the good of the nation he'll be supporting the government and that this is the correct thing to do. And that he hopes that Labour supporters will get behind the national effort

Meanwhile, GN will be taking partisan pot shots at anyone who they perceive to be on the other side.

Hetty58 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:48:16

GrannyGravy13, 'stinking' is just so apt!

Casdon Mon 13-Dec-21 12:49:43

My guess is that he’s going to urge people to get vaccinated and have boosters. Given that some of the Tories are rebelling, he will be responsible. That is surely the right thing to do. Don’t judge until you hear what he has to say.

Whitewave
that made me laugh.
I support 100% what Alegrias says but you don't seem to notice that you are one of the ones taking partisan shots on various threads.
Johnson has got it right this time, it isn't a dead cat, it isn't getting ducks in rows or any of the animal phrases that are routinely used on here.
it was a pre recorded message that struck exactly the right tone, serious ( because it damn well could be!) saying what the scientists know so far and what we should be doing.
it's right to aim as high as can possibly be done in terms of booster jabs.
I fully expect Starmer to concur with Johnson's message, and for once, everybody who supports any and all political parties should stop any political sniping on this subject. It affects us all.

Allsorts Mon 13-Dec-21 15:25:48

Afraid, he lacks any charisma, he will tell us to back Boris, who has told us correctly the scientific evidence, so there’s not much else he can say really. I will miss it

Since when did party leaders have to have charisma? The last two with that have had it have been Blair and Johnson and that didn’t go well, did it?

MissAdventure Mon 13-Dec-21 16:05:19

Margaret Thatcher had charisma.
Like or loathe her, she had a very strong persona.

Accurate description of Maggie.

Kali2 Mon 13-Dec-21 16:24:08

minus the humanity though- that was seriously lacking!

Mamie Mon 13-Dec-21 16:32:00

Clement Attlee didn't have much charisma. He was still the best Prime Minister the UK ever had, in my opinion.

paddyann54 Mon 13-Dec-21 16:33:33

maggie the most hated woman in Scotland, even now .She decimated our industry and left whole communities without hope .Humane she certainly wasn't and we all fervently pray there wont be another like her.Maybe she is one of the reasons tories in Scotland are polling on 1% and Labour a mere 6% because they are tories in red rosettes .
