Harry and Meghan's Happy Holiday Card

So the glorious couple have released the first picture of Baby Lilibet on their Happy Holiday Season card, but why are they always so annoying in everything they do? Both children's faces are only partially visible, we don't get a good look at them. Okay, their choice I suppose, but why?

Even more annoying is that they are once again boasting about their charitable donations. As discussed on another GN thread called 'Doing Good' it is generally agreed that charity work should be done privately with modesty, and not to publicise your good works. Instead we have: As we look forward to 2022 we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families - from those being relocated from Afghanistan to American families in need of paid parental leave.
Just to make sure we all know how wonderful they are I suppose.

I can understand anyone saying we are not sending cards this
year we are donating the costs to a charity

Sending a card listing what charities you have supported , vulgar

That’s right Alegrias. I have someone who always does that who can well afford to send cards and give to charity. I always think it’s a lazy cop out but still (reluctantly) send him a card every year.

It is. Lazy and virtue signalling (imo)

I should have listed the charities I made donations to - damn, now I'll have to send out New Year cards with Round Robins!
And remind people I bought trees to offset the fact I sent cards and used paper.

I'm confused - is there another thread about this?

Lovely photo and they look very happy.

My cousin and his wife have just sent everybody a message on Facebook saying that they won't be sending Xmas cards but have made a donation to charity X. Several other friends have done the same thing.

I guess I'd best just message them all and say that they are attention seeking poseurs with no sense of propriety.

Yes, do that Aleg ......because that’s exactly what they are.

Mind you there’s a lot of it about just now, FB is full of it.

Nice photo of the Sussex family for their fans.

Cousin is a retired paramedic who had a stroke.

I'll be sure to tell him what you think of him Lemongrove. He was quite used to ungrateful ***** slagging him off while he was saving their lives, so your attitude won't be a surprise to him.

Beautiful children. That little boy looks adorable. They have a head start with both parents being good looking.

lemongrove Thu 23-Dec-21 17:08:00

I thought you may return with a sob story Alegrias.....
I think anyone can afford to send cards to those that you used to used to , and saying they will now give to charity instead is a useful cop out.
You can do both, and not tell anyone.

Yes, the other thread is about royal photos and the images created by those in the picture.

I think I've cross-threaded
tchgrin

lemongrove Thu 23-Dec-21 17:11:14

By the way Aleg if you are going to tell sad stories of relatives and their ill health, make sure that you put it in your original story, not afterwards.
If somebody has had a stroke and cannot write cards it makes sense to tell friends that.

Is that something to do with stitching? Like getting yourself in knots?

vegansrock Thu 23-Dec-21 17:12:47

I still can’t understand why it’s vulgar to state what charity you are supporting - don’t people do that all the time? Wear a t shirt with the charity name for a marathon run? Is that wrong? If you send a Christmas card with the name of the charity you’ve bought it from on the back being attention seeking? Obviously yes in the eyes of some on here. Or is just if the Sussexes do it it’s deemed vulgar?

That’s the beauty of being old, you can cross thread all you like.tchgrin

I started this one because the other one was about the Royal Family Christmas cards. I didn't realise H&M had entered the other discussion. They are not Royal and theirs is not a Christmas card!

Jeezy peeps. We do mix in different circles. ??

The season of joy and goodwill to all men. Mostly.

Bah Humbug. I want my card, I deserve it and I want it now and anybody who doesn't send cards is just worthless as a human being.

??

H&M always make it known what good works they are doing, so yes that is attention seeking and virtue signalling.

How much do cards cost? Unless your cards list runs into triple figures it wouldn’t be much of a saving in order to donate to charity.

A master class in back tracking. Why don't you just say you don't believe me Lemongrove and get it out of your system?

I've been off GN for a few days and now I remember why. Too many argumentative people with an odd view of the world.

Merry Xmas to all, and to all a goodnight....

Chestnut Thu 23-Dec-21 17:20:34

Agreed Tickingbird and if you buy charity Christmas cards anyway..........

The postage is quite substantial, particularly if sending overseas.
66p for a 2nd class stamp.

lemongrove Thu 23-Dec-21 17:25:32

Yes, am sure we do move in different circles Algerias....I move in one where people aren’t always argumentative and allow other views without always having to be right.
There are a few posters who always want to scupper a ‘Harry and Meg’ thread as if it has no right to be there.

As my MIL used to say "Everyone's out of step but me!"
She loved an argument ?

Merry Christmas!

Charleygirl5 Thu 23-Dec-21 17:28:18

I think the two children are gorgeous and both have Harry's hair colouring.

Aveline Thu 23-Dec-21 17:31:56

As Chestnut said, why are we bothering about these Sussex's, they're not royal and they're not sending Christmas cards!

Juggernaut Thu 23-Dec-21 17:31:58

I wonder why it took little Lili to 'make them a family'. Surely two parents and one child constitute 'a family'.
I'm an only child, and grew up in a family, my husband is the same, as is our son, and now his son is growing up with a loving dad, mum (they were married before she was pregnant too, how very quaint and old fashioned) but according to the idiot Sussex couple, none of us grew up in a 'family'!
I think it's a very hurtful thing for them to have said about Archie, and one day it will come back to bite them on the bum!
