SIR Tony Blair ?

His Premiership saw our university system wrecked, his devolution is now threatening our United Kingdom, his secret mass immigration plans have brought divisions to our society, his wars were illegal and the infiltration of his left-wing supporters throughout our public bodies has triggered the woke insurrection that is ripping our history and culture to shreds. History will judge Blair to have caused untold damage to our country - he should not have been honoured - in my opinion.

How do you feel about it?

Kamiso Sat 01-Jan-22 13:02:46

Totally disgusted! He has the blood of David Kelley and so many military personnel on his hands all because his ambition was to earn praise and big bucks in the USA. He unbalanced our parliamentary system and is all an all round disgusting disgrace.

He should be tried for war crimes.

While I accept that there were many good things which came about as a result of his time in power - devolution being just one of them! - his actions in taking us to war with Iraq will never be forgotten nor forgiven. As an ex-Army mum, I'm forever grateful that my son came back from his tours of Iraq and Afghanistan safe and sound, but there's not a day goes by that I don't think of those families who were not so fortunate, or the servicemen and women who are still suffering as a result. And for what?

Queen has awarded him the Order of the Garter, so presumably she doesn’t think him too bad.

Our son came home, some of his friends didn’t, some who came home have never been the same…

Doesnt she ( her office) just rubber stamp it Wwmk2?

No, it is entirely her own decision.

His government made a huge and positive contribution to poverty stricken areas. Community schools, Sure Start, Newpin, investment in hospitals, education, health. After years of neglect, many school. Hospital buildings needed refurb or rebuild.
I agree with the negative comments about Iraq.

Shandy57 Sat 01-Jan-22 13:12:56

I could hardly believe it when I heard on the radio, the country has gone to the dogs.

silverlining48 Sat 01-Jan-22 13:16:01

I think it’s a separate specific award by the Queen. There were lots of positives during his premiership, remember 5 year waits fir cataracts, 3 years fir hip/ knee surgery, minimum hourly pay rate ( much criticised by conservatives).
However the Iraqi war will not be forgotten.

Iam64 I took so long writing, so didn’t see your post, put so much better than mine but am in total agreement. Surestart was a brilliant organisation. Sadly most if not all closed down now.

threexnanny Sat 01-Jan-22 13:19:59

He served as PM for several years and is therefore entitled to be recognised. Impossible not to make bad decisions sometimes in such a stressful position. I cannot remember a PM who was 100 % perfect.

Kamiso Sat 01-Jan-22 13:27:54

Interesting that Blair is allowed to make “mistakes” that cost lives but Johnson and the virologists are supposed to second guess an unknown virus and get it right every time!

Kpnuts Sat 01-Jan-22 13:28:01

He is a self serving waste of space, just like his wife and the money grabbing rest of his family. Everything set up to benefit them. They have caused more harm than good, the knighthood is a travesty.

Casdon Sat 01-Jan-22 13:32:01

Kpnuts I’m assuming you mean Boris? History will judge him more harshly than it will Tony Blair.

Grany Sat 01-Jan-22 13:33:09

Agree he should not have been honoured.

There is a petition to recind this award lots not happy about it

silverlining48 Sat 01-Jan-22 13:35:57

Casdon grin

Janiepops Sat 01-Jan-22 13:37:16

I agree wholeheartedly. In one paragraph, you have described his entire Premiership! and also, agree with everything else you ever write about!!
One thing though….. in his defence, ( and my bones are blue) I feel pretty sure he really, really did believe there were WMD, his ‘intel’ got it SO wrong.
He wouldn’t knowingly have sent hundreds of ‘our boys’ to their premature deaths, he had sons of his own, he couldn’t have done that……? The pointless deaths of young lives must haunt him every day of his life… mustn’t it?? Of course he should never be honoured for that.

Urmstongran Sat 01-Jan-22 13:41:19

That said, we do forget Sir Philip Green ? and Sir Jimmy Savile ??

Alegrias1 Sat 01-Jan-22 13:44:05

Thatcher got to be a Baroness so forgive me if I don't get overexcited about former PMs getting the same award as actors.

Alegrias1 Sat 01-Jan-22 13:45:36

Grany

But Grany, this award is in the gift of the Queen, and she's infallible shock

nadateturbe Sat 01-Jan-22 13:57:59

He shouldn't have got it.
I don't agree with the honours system anyhow.

Ilovecheese Sat 01-Jan-22 14:03:19

If it were not for Tony Blair the Queen may never have retained her popularity after Princess Diana died. I would say she owes him his knighthood.
