SIR Tony Blair ?
(224 Posts)His Premiership saw our university system wrecked, his devolution is now threatening our United Kingdom, his secret mass immigration plans have brought divisions to our society, his wars were illegal and the infiltration of his left-wing supporters throughout our public bodies has triggered the woke insurrection that is ripping our history and culture to shreds. History will judge Blair to have caused untold damage to our country - he should not have been honoured - in my opinion.
How do you feel about it?

I wonder if there’s been pressure brought to bear on the Queen. The timing is very dodgy. The business of GM and Andrew - who knows what Blair knows. He’s been about more than a little himself and mixed with some dodgy people. Nothing would surprise me.
Blair was in Epstein's little black book an associate of Maxwell and Epstein
Why did Keir Starmer, who's donors are all former Tony Blair donors, nominate Tony Blair for a knighthood.
I can't work it out. @UKLabour
I thought someone said it was not a nomination…by Starmer or anyone else ?
A link to names in Epstein’s black book grany and would you
type in Rotherham Abuse in the search box, you will find threads where I posted 2017,, read then apologise please. I cannot accept anything you say without links after your lie
about me, thank you.
Sorry went off topic
This award is made by the Queen - however it is reported she didn't like Blair and made him wait longer than any other previous PM - I wonder whether pressure was brought to bear on her to finally give him this "honour"
The script is as bad as the jokes.

The one PM I’ve changed my mind about is Gordon Brown - he seems to be morally and intellectually superior to any PM we’ve had since. He’s the only one I can think of who seemed to be sincere in what he tried to do ( not all of it successful before I get piled on) . Not sure if he has or hasn’t had an honour - he should do.
He was a terrible PM and a devious Chancellor
However, he has improved enormously since he left politics.
Urmstongran, my heart just sank when it came up on the news. (Couldn't believe it, thought WTF.)
I'm no fan of Boris, have never voted Tory - yet I have a particularly strong dislike of Blair. Obviously, then the honours are just a joke now!
So now war criminals are rewarded. He saved the British royals at the time of Diana’s death and of course they would thank him for that but so many suffered and died because of him and his ill-judged advice. I remember well going on the marches against the invasion but we wasted our time with people like him around. He is detestable.

I’m aware of the PFI problems of course. Infrastructure rotting, huge amounts of money needed.
If and when Labour get into power again, I dread to think how much will be needed simply to re-build what the tories have destroyed
The fact is well still be paying for pfi for years to come, no wonder No money for much else. These are eye watering sums

So Blair wasn’t responsible for peace in Ireland because other people were involved too. But he’s totally responsible for the Iraq war.
No Blair turned up to receive the accolade and sign the GFA. The actual work was done by Mo Mowlam, who not only insisted on speaking to all the parties involved but dragged them to the negotiating table. I remember reading that when she was really fed up with a stalemate she would take off her wig and slam it on the table, chemo for her cancer had made her lose her hair.
Bush wanted Blair to join the war so Blair manipulated bullied and lied to make sure we did.

His government made a huge and positive contribution to poverty stricken areas. Community schools, Sure Start, Newpin, investment in hospitals, education, health. After years of neglect, many school. Hospital buildings needed refurb or rebuild.
I agree with the negative comments about Iraq. Many of these "investments" in hospitals education etc were made via Blair and Brown's huge expansion of John Major's Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme, which provided a seeming windfall of instant easy money - at the expense of many years of paying the resulting rents. As the Guardian reported a few years ago: "NHS hospital trusts are being crippled by the private finance initiative and will have to make another £55bn in payments by the time the last contract ends in 2050, a report reveals.
An initial £13bn of private sector-funded investment in new hospitals will end up costing the NHS in England a staggering £80bn by the time all contracts come to an end, the IPPR thinktank has found."
Perhaps not such a huge and positive contribution after all...
??? Bodach very well explained. That whole imbroglio was a mess with a capital ‘M’.
I’d forgotten the details.
‘Buy now, pay (heavily) later’ comes to mind.

Yes Ed West has certainly moved on from his work on Nuts magazine.
No Mowlam was appointed Secretary of State M.Ireland by Tony Blair.
Parliament voted on Iraq

Just come on to this thread. Blair’s immigration was to rub the Tory’s noses in it and get more Labour votes whilst being disingenuous with working class voters according to a book I have just been perusing. Remember the lady who questioned Gordon Brown and he had his mike switched on and accused his aides of putting him on the spot with a bigot, all because she wanted to talk about immigration.
The book is called “The Diversity Illusion - What we got wrong about Immigration” by Ed West. It came into my in box from Amazon earlier this afternoon and I read the ‘Look Inside’ first few chapters. Very interesting. Gave me a different insight.
Ed West also wrote a book called Small Men on the Wrong Side of History.
How apt.
AS was in the Balkan’s it was a messy war

Sir War Crime Tony Blair.

I agree trisher GFA was and always will be Mo Mowlams.
?
trisher
Possibly her maj is making sure she rewards everyone she wants to before she departs. Rewarding a war criminal is one step too far though. So sad that such a bright start ended in such disaster.
He can't claim the good Friday agreement that's Mo Molem's
Paddy Ashdown was the one who helped bring peace to the Balkans.
Blair went in with bombs and guns.
I agree trisher GFA was and always will be Mo Mowlams.
