Will we have a new PM by the end of the month?

I really don’t want to turn this into a slanging match!

Whatever your politics I think we can all agree Boris and his cohorts have behaved in a despicable manner.

If he is still in power by the end of the month then I don’t think I will ever vote again.

He really is like Teflon…nothing sticks.

Dominic Cummings and others I suspect are gunning for him but will they succeed?
????????

Wikipaedia has names for Chairman, deputy Chairman and deputy Chairwoman of the ERG Kali2 but it cannot be taken as truth. Shrouded in mystery it seems although said to be so powerful.

Kali2 Wed 12-Jan-22 09:58:11

BTW, they are the ones that made sure they got rid of Mrs May- that used Johnson as a tool to win power, and the ones that will stab him in the back now- and appoint the next one.

Greta Wed 12-Jan-22 10:00:17

About ERG. Ask the average person what it is and what role it plays. Many will have absolutely no idea. And many don't care. But perhaps I am being unfair here.

And they totally refuse, again and again, to give a list of members. They should be forced to do so. Whose remit would that be though, The Speaker? Or?

Why should they be ‘forced to’ ? You seem very keen on draconian measures all round Kali hmm
Nobody is forced to say that they are a member of a political party/ the Masons/the unions/ boy scouts and so on in this country.

maddyone Wed 12-Jan-22 10:19:47

Mmmmm, I just don’t know. I think probably not gone by the end of the month, but will he last the rest of the year. Probably not!

lavendermine Wed 12-Jan-22 10:23:52

I doubt it tbh, I think he will get away with it, as usual. Then of course, what would the alternative be, I dread to think!

If they are elected by the public, represent the public and their Constituencies, use public money for their activities, and exert massive power over Government and even the PM and the future of the Country, they should be declared. Same for the Judiciary.

Boy Scouts, they are not!

LauraNorderr Wed 12-Jan-22 10:38:02

I think he’ll hang on until spring conference in Blackpool, 18/19 March then whatever happens there and in the meantime will determine his future.

HolySox Wed 12-Jan-22 10:38:47

Sarnia says "Britain deserves so much better." Do we?
Yes there was a lockdown and most people followed the rules ... but many didn't. Many "bending the rules" to suit themselves. But it was for our own protection.
So the staff sat in the garden in the sun - as we all did. As I recall the email instructed people to socially distance which they no doubt did. Maybe the email was just authorising all staff to use the garden at a time open public places in London were limited. Matter of interpretation but BJ's enemies obviously making mileage. I think the conservatives needed BJ in charge to get re-elected because of Brexit but now that's done want him out.
I think this too long ago and far too petty. Parliment has bigger things to debate such as tackling the current COVID wave, energy prices/ crisis, leveling up North snd South...

Urmstongran Wed 12-Jan-22 11:11:42

I don’t think he will resign. He may get booted out though later in the year if his popularity in the polls doesn’t improve.

wicklowwinnie Wed 12-Jan-22 11:31:53

Thank you HolySox.
Your posting is the most sensible one I have read this morning.
We have more important things to deal with rather than waste time on trivia.

Iam64 Wed 12-Jan-22 11:56:23

Time wasting trivia ?
What about imposing draconian measures on everyone else, then doing exactly what you want. People were fined for much smaller breaches

we are paying for the ERGs existence. Of course we should know who are members etc.

We all did

I didn’t.

So called European Research Group. Nothing to do with 'research' though, but extreme free market policies and ideologies. Extreme 'right' in a different way.

Kali2

Thank you. I’ll do a bit more research now. Never heard the term before.

Certainly not with so many people !

Just a thought but aren’t there too many threads in exactly the same issue ?

You are welcome.

Here is a copy of the interview where one member refuses to say who the members are, Suella Braverman.

When I saw the title of this thread I intended to post an opinion. Not now as so many posts seem so extreme. We have to live and work with the politicians we currently have, most of whom have very little to recommend them. I’m referring here to both major parties. We may as well stick with what we have for the time being. As for Dominic Cummings he’s the biggest hypocrite of them all.

Kali2 Wed 12-Jan-22 14:57:46

Thank you for posting your opinion.

Why both parties?

Why? Defeatist? Don't care? See no other option? I see it very differently. I can't imagine how he can continue now, I really can't. He should (just for once in his life) do the honourable thing - and resign!

tidyskatemum Wed 12-Jan-22 15:01:10

I’m appalled that no Conservative MPs, never mind Cabinet members, have had the guts to stick their heads above the parapet and say what everyone is thinking. Instead we keep getting poor suckers wheeled out to defend the indefensible. The mantra of “wait for the outcome of the investigation” is just playing for time in the hope that everyone will have stopped being outraged by then. I can only hope Johnson is wrong and the whole lot of them get what they deserve - a P45.

Why don’t you see it as they were keeping us all safe, and I thank them for that. They maybe didn’t keep themselves as safe, but that’s up to them. As Holysox said, there are bigger things to worry about. This is just a distraction to get rid of Boris, the man who got us out of Europe, and in my opinion, has done as well as anyone else would have during covid. There wasn’t a manual!

Many politicians are incompetent liars. Boris is no worse than anyone else.

Lucca Wed 12-Jan-22 16:09:20

Oh he is he is.

He did not do as well as anyone else. He delayed lockdown too long he didn’t borders or stop large sporting events, He was just lucky the scientists sorted a vaccine

Wow! Did you have a straight face when you typed that? I honestly don't believe you did.
