Have a look at the pics. He is such a hypocrite.

Good.
I’m surprised the groups weren’t ‘spoken to’ by the Met Police in attendance at the time. I wonder why?

Because every Met police officer knows it's bad manners to talk with your mouth full of cake.

EllanVannin Tue 25-Jan-22 10:35:07

The squeaky-clean Met !

Urmstongran Tue 25-Jan-22 10:35:21

Love it Calli ! ?

“I can confirm that the Met is now investigating a number of events that took place at Downing Street and Whitehall in the last two years in relation to potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations," Dame Cressida has said.

“I can confirm that the Met is now investigating a number of events that took place at Downing Street and Whitehall in the last two years in relation to potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations," Dame Cressida has said.

Is this repetition of what someone else has already told us done for the benefit of those among us who can't hold a thought in their heads for more than 20 seconds, Ug? 'Fraid you're a bit late with the gossip today...

P.S I don't think Johnson is a fool. I think that those who voted for him are fools..

Riverwalk Tue 25-Jan-22 11:06:36

Johnson should be ashamed of himself.

How much Met time will be spent investigating his many parties and breaking of the rules - it's not like they have nothing else to do.

Urmstongran Tue 25-Jan-22 11:08:46

You jump on me all the bluddy time MaizieD. You do it constantly and it’s rude. I was quite aware it had already been mentioned. If I post something that hasn’t I put ‘Breaking News’ at the start of my post. In this instance I was just highlighting was Cressida Dick had said in the interview.

His handwriting is the least problematic part of all these issues as far as I am concerned, Doctors, Lawyers and many other professionals are noted for their pretty illegible handwriting. I'm very angry at all Boris has done, but I would not be putting his writing top of my list of what I am annoyed about.

Chestnut Tue 25-Jan-22 11:19:24

I do think the dates are relevant and should be noted because things changed considerably over 2020.

When Boris wrote to Josephine it was 21 Mar 2020 which was a very scary time. We were just going into our first lockdown and you could literally feel the fear in the air. We were entering the unknown. Everything went silent, even the birds weren't singing. It was totally right to cancel any kind of gathering at that time.

By Boris's birthday 19 Jun things were different. We had workmen calling to do jobs at our house. I went on a house viewing with my daughter the following day. People were behaving more normally, although still taking precautions of course.

What a nice photo Janeainsworth. Love your dress.

Riverwalk Tue 25-Jan-22 11:20:03

Everyone knows what sort of character Johnson is - there's no need to analyse his handwriting.

nadateturbe Tue 25-Jan-22 11:22:21

Just read OP. Unbelievable! or maybe not...

Sarnia Tue 25-Jan-22 11:23:04

As Johnson supported Dick when she was under immense criticism I won't hold my breath for her to oversee an honest and transparent investigation. I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine.

Callistemon21 Tue 25-Jan-22 11:27:38

The truth is that she needs to go as well.
She seems to have little control over her officers.

janeainsworth Tue 25-Jan-22 11:31:02

Chestnut These were the rules at the time of Boris’ birthday party:
Gatherings were permitted for up to six people outdoors, but they were not permitted indoors. It was not until more than two weeks later, on 4 July, that indoor gatherings between two households were permitted

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Happy to say my lockdown hair has now grown out and is now a fetching au naturel grin

We had our 40th wedding anniversary in May 2020, arrangements from the year before is that we would have a family gathering on the day followed by a two week trip up to the Isle of Skye in our caravan. Of course none of this happened and my DH and I had a steak dinner and a bottle of wine entirely on our own with no visitors, and no planned trip.
Very disappointing for us but not half as bad as a lot of peoples stories. I am furious with Boris and his Government, whether he attended parties for 10 mins, 2 hours or not at all these gatherings happened on his watch, and as he has said he takes full responsability, so Mr Johnson, stop stalling, take responsiblity and go. Any person with any decency and moral compass would, utterly shameless.

Boz Tue 25-Jan-22 11:51:39

We are all jumping on Johnson - notwithstanding he is a lax fool with the rules - but if this party was a surprise he was hijacked it seems.
Also, while all blame is heaped on BJ the people (me included as no fool like an old fool) who voted in an unsuitable candidate on the basis of "better than the rest" and believing MSM on Brexit should have a red face.

Delila Tue 25-Jan-22 12:16:17

I wish people wouldn’t use initials. By MSM do you mean mainstream media?

MaizieD Tue 25-Jan-22 12:16:32

notwithstanding he is a lax fool with the rules -

Not jumping on you, Boz, but to be honest, calling him a 'lax fool' seems like diminishing the whole enormity.

He was the head of the government which made the rules. He tweeted about 'the rules', he stood in front of ~TV cameras and told us 'the rules'. Breaking the rules himself wasn't 'foolish', it was unbelievably arrogant and contemptuous of the entire population who were mostly doing their best to follow the rules.

All the people who participated are tarred with the same brush of arrogance and contemptuousness but he was the leader. How many times has he said in Parliament that he took full responsibility for all sorts of things that have been badly done? Including all these bloody parties...

Of course, we know that he's lying about taking responsibility. We know that he's never taken responsibility for anything in his life. But the buck stops with him, that goes with the job that he so very desperately wanted, and it is he who is deserving of the most censure.

Iam64 Tue 25-Jan-22 12:38:07

Why do some excuse Johnson breaking his own rules.
Some blame Carrie because allegedly it was a surprise party so Johnson can’t be held accountable.
My husband was 70 during lockdown . Planned celebrations cancelled. Our disappointment sent packing because we felt fortunate, no one we loved had been sick or died. Keeping everyone safe was everyone’s responsibility, we believed. We celebrated with a delivered gastro meal - together.

It would never have occurred to me to order a cake and invite people. Carrie was perpetuating the culture in Downing Street. Normal rules don’t apply. People drink at work.

Boz Tue 25-Jan-22 12:40:09

Fair enough.

Chestnut Tue 25-Jan-22 14:21:03

His cake looks delicious! My daughter could bake that. I wish I knew what flavour it was.

Is that Sue Gray?

Boz Tue 25-Jan-22 16:38:26

It is an Eton mess cake

Coastpath Tue 25-Jan-22 17:24:28

Oh Boz - that made me hoot with laughter. He looks like he's just won Bake Off.

Will we be told that the party was ok as they were all washing their hands as they sang Happy Birthday?
