I actually think the PM should go now, and it wasn’t just his get Brexit done sound bite and that gave him a 80 seat majority it was because the alternative was unthinkable.

His previous form was well known.

I live in a city and every day there were reports of people flouting the guidelines so what and a Cabinet government meeting does not that warrant more than 2 people getting together

Yes - many of us do - this is not about parties, this is about his deceit, lies, and illegal actions.

Johnson wants us all to ignore the fraud that he and his chancellor appeared to have forgotten about,
- or the PPE that was unfit for use in the early days,
- or imposing restrictions when it was too late,
- a failed test & trace system that is costing us £billions,
- the open borders with new variants allowed to spread,
- and offloading patients with Covid from hospitals to care homes,
- illegally attempting to prorogue parliament,
- announcing that the Irish Border deal that he signed would be broken in a specific and limited way.

Oh no, this is not something that we should forget - along with 170,000 deaths, with many of those resulting from this government's actions or inactions.
They then choose to say that they "got the big decisions right" - nobody believes that story anymore, and you can't paper those cracks over with vaccine, vaccine, rah, rah, rah.

It isn’t about just that. It’s about having someone running the country that doesn’t think that the law of the land applies to him. And the parties are just the latest in a long line of misdemeanours by this PM. Attempting to prorogue parliament, Jennifer Arcuri, Owen Paterson etc etc

When Boris was Foreign Secretary he managed to ensure Nazanin Radcliffe got extra jail time by his injudicious remarks. This man is a liability on so many levels.

According to polling 68% of the British public say that they didn't break the 'rules'.

Polls don’t always reflect the truth of a situation. As we all know. I rarely credit them - they are wrong so often. People like to give the right answer when asked a question.

I turned the conversation to the subject of HM the Queen, and the sad photo of her alone at her husband's funeral, because she was setting an example to us all by being a stickler for the rules.

I'm not an ardent royalist - not even a royalist - but found that photo' quite poignant. An old lady, sitting alone at a time when she probably would have appreciated family around her - hit a nerve. She obeyed the rules, her government didn't.

Well, that's just hard luck on a country running the FPTP system which managed to return them such an appalling human being for PM.

But, there's a great deal more goes on in Parliament than the 30 minute theatre known as PMQs once a week. So it's unfair to continue to believe that the government aren't addressing anything but partygate.

Debate on the Ukraine situation in parliament yesterday. I did post a link on the PMs thread.

The majority of posters on GN are only appearing to be concerned with either partygate or curtaingate Along with when will the PM resign.

The scandalous behaviour of a PM is actually a rather important issue, GG13.

But you're complaining that the government aren't addressing things; Gnet is irrelevant to that. Have a look at the parliamentary programme, check out debates on Hansard. They are doing some business.

Today I was told by a Johnson supporter that it was ridiculous that adult people were making such a fuss about parties.

In some ways I quite like this old chap, but I think his habit of reading the Daily Express has addled his brain.

Why do posters keep saying "Protecting lives, protecting the economy and dealing with Ukraine and fuel problems ARE high on my list of concerns, and that's what I want the government to focus on." as though other posters aren't hugely concerned about these things too?

Obviously these things are vital to all of us but what is leadership worth if it is not based on truth, agreed rules and working for the common good? How can we have faith in our leaders if they have let us down?

Partygate has been hashed out on GN to the nth degree. It is being investigated by the Met Police and Sue Gray, if and in all probability the PM will be found culpable he should resign.

In the meantime there are many other extremely important things that this Government should be addressing.

I think his hypocrisy and disregard for the law don’t occur to him. My daughter told me of a school report that his father made public - no doubt thinking it was hilarious- which said that Boris didn’t think any of the school rules applied to him. He hasn’t changed. What a sorry excuse for a human being !
