You’re doing well HolySox, but all to no avail I think with this crowd. Sheep come to mind.

Worth reading before making assumptions etc about the report.

DiscoDancer1975 are you lemongrove? I think I must be really slow at catching on.

Holysox I presume you aren’t a religious person despite your user name, as I don’t understand how you could condone blatant lying from the PM if you were. That he lied on numerous occasions has been borne out by numerous sources, and is being investigated by the police. If anybody is guilty of bearing false witness it is he.
The leaders of the day used the 'Law' to justify crucifying Jesus. They lied. All politicians lie. I'm merely looking at the bigger picture and suggesting Boris may be doing a good job afterall. He's certainly no Jesus but then he did get Brexit done.

Oh Casdon, its not you who is slow to catch on
I fail to see how it is cowardly to say that you are not prepared to see your country ~(or even your ~political party)~ be reduced and run down by a weak , self centred untrustworthy leader.
It is interesting to see in the Sue Grey update that there is concern expressed for some who felt too cowed to speak out.
I want better than this for my grandchildren. Don't you Holysox ?
Having Boris as PM is just like making Billy Bunter head of Greyfriars School. He'd be funny and entertaining but shambolic, lazy and constantly trying to cover up his mistakes. Just like Boris! I think his days are numbered! tbh I thought the SG update was quite damning and I await the Met outcome with interest. This is not going away.
I am stunned holysox that after all the debate on gransnet in recent weeks, you still seem to think what is annoying us all is a series of parties at No 10. Yes it was wrong when most other people obeyed the rules, the very people who made the rules, then broke them. Yes it was wrong that when others were unable to comfort sick family or attend funerals, the Downing Street crowd felt it was OK to party into the night. However what this entire issue is about is what the Prime minister says in the House of Commons. He is expected to lead the house and country in respect of honesty and probity. However this Prime minister prefers to lie and he has been found out. He has not lied once about ‘Partygate’ but repeatedly and knowingly. This is a resigning issue under the Ministerial code. Given we now have a Prime Minister who believes it is his right to lie, how are we, the country, expected to believe him about anything. Sadly it is clear many other countries know he is a liar and treat everything he says accordingly. What an example to our children!
What I find so disappointing is that Tory MPs seem to be putting our country last in their decision over the lying, incompetent, immoral they seem to have decided to support as the country’s PM.
Johnson will stop at nothing to further his own ends.
Trump land is alive and kicking in the U.K.

Excellent post.
Sentence first verdict afterwards seems to be the order of the day. Surely we have to wait for the Met investigation? If that finds him guilty Johnson will get hammered so maybe to use another expression ‘softly, softly catchee monkey.’ I wasn’t happy with Theresa May putting the boot in - that seemed a bit vindictive because she was ousted. All the Boris haters were jumping for joy but were thwarted but that may only be temporary as the can has just been kicked down the road.
I have long held that lockdown was not instigated to protect us at all. It was for the NHS. Knowing that why wouldn’t they have gatherings in Government? - not saying they did. However do as I say not as I do never goes down well. Let’s see what the Met come up with.
I think that Holysox is making 'christian forgiveness' do a lot of heavy lifting. There may be joy over the sinner who repents, but this sinner isn't isn't in the slightest bit repentant.
I'm glad to be the type of sheep that knows lying is wrong.
More power to the sheep.
WW2: 'Johnson has wriggled free again'
No, I really don't believe he can escape this one. It won't be buried, brushed under the carpet - or fade into insignificance.
His hopes to wait it out or brave it out are typical of a nincompoop with zero understanding of the public mood.
Marmite32
Same here Coastpath
But what can we oldies do about it !
It's so frustrating isn't it Marmite32, but I think we oldies can do a lot about it
We can let our MPs know how we feel about the current situation and most importantly we can vote for the people we believe will do their best by our country based on all past experience.
Discussion on radio this morning about Tory MPs taking a lot of notice of their mail from constituents.
It was said if they continue getting a lot of complaints from us they will take it on board.
It’s easy to email your MP, I have written to mine a NUmber of times about issues of the day.
I think mine follows the party line but it doesn’t hurt to let him know the rest of us are angry,
I think it's inconceivable that Boris Johnson will change for the better or that he can 'reform' the government. ”I get it and I will fix it” he commented in HoC yesterday. What he means is 'you lot, just forget it now and leave me be".
The comment to Keir Stamer about JS was unforgivable and I cannot understand why the speaker seems powerless at times. He should not have allowed it. But hey ho, it's just Boris.
When I heard Nadine Dorries I had to switch off. And these cowards are addressed as 'honourable'!

Johnson mentioned the Jimmy Saville case this afternoon. I’m writing to the speaker asking him to tell Johnson to publicly withdraw that comment.
I could honestly not believe my ears. Absolute disgrace. I would also write but don’t know how to phrase it ? Anyone up for letting me copy their homework ?!
I mainly sent the link to the fact-check that someone posted on here and asked Hoyle to read it and make Johnson publicly denounce what he had said. And I said I expected an answer from him. Lots of people on Facebook have written to him, too. The trouble is, even though it’s a lie it will still stick in peoples minds so Johnson knew what he was doing. I think someone said his own party told him not to do it.
I’ve just watched the cringeworthy interview Nadine Dorries gave yesterday afternoon. I actually felt embarrassed for the foolish woman. She’s completely out of her depth and shouldn’t be allowed in front of a camera.

It doesn’t take long to wind you all up does it? I think I’m doing you a favour. It must be so boring , the same group of you going over the same stuff, countless times. I just want to give you someone to slag off to brighten up your day.
Right, must be off now. Had a swim, and now spending the rest of the day with grandchildren.
And no.....I’m not Lemongrove. Believe it or not, there are others who think like us.
Do enjoy the rest of your day.....
Silly woman.

Yes - she reminded me of Trump supporters who support the blatant lies being told by Trump.

It is entirely likely the gatherings (work meetings) in No 10 complied with guidelines ... certainly at the time Boris would have thought so. As "more information" has come to light it may be in some areas of No 10 guidelines may not have been adhered to although the Met have yet to confirm if the law has actually been broken. In the meantime Boris has made two public apologies in the Commons ... mainly due to pressure from the media, hence UMG talked about a lynch mob.
I think Boris's apology was genuine - so aren't we to forgive? If it turns out Boris is convicted of breaking the Law then it be right to go.

The smear made against Keir Starmer relating to Jimmy Saville yesterday is wrong & cannot be defended. It should be withdrawn. False and baseless personal slurs are dangerous, corrode trust & can't just be accepted as part of the cut & thrust of parliamentary debate.

Johnson has never told the truth in his life. So no his apology was not genuine.
