Ms Sturgeon is quoted defending the removing of parts of doors (bottom section) where she thinks it’s appropriate.

So, has the person posting this post actually read anything about what's going on?
The poster concerned couldn't give a monkeys whether it is in Scotland or elsewhere, or even whether it is true, but it is a topic that comes up all the time in any school. The poster was actually thinking it might be appropriate to discuss how this problem is not insurmountable and how the best outcome might be achieved.

Well the poster should stop talking about barmy ideas without understanding the proposal then.

That's what doors are for! To increase the natural flow of air we can open them.
They can be opened slightly, partway, halfway, threequarters or fully. Very versatile things, doors.

I haven't been in a classroom for over 40 years. I've no idea if the teachers like to leave doors open, if they get told off for wedging them open, or if anyone thinks its a good idea to have windows open in the Highlands in the middle of winter with minus 5 degrees outside.

But money is being made available for a number of optional measures. Some will be unsuited to some situations, maybe nobody will even modify a door. But the government didn't come up with this over a plate of porridge in the morning, its the recommendation of people who know about ventilation. But the first reaction of all the opposition leaders (and Willie Rennie ) and the anti-SNP newspapers, and everyone on GN who likes to jump on a half formed anti-Nicola story, is to start mocking the idea, making things up about it, telling lies about it and going on and on about fire regulations.

Throw in a bit of name calling and we're all done.

Well anyone who has a child or grandchild at school would want this to be gone over and over. Priority.

TBF fire regulations are a concern surely. If a fire breaks out in a room, once the room has been evacuated the next step is to close the door. What's the point of closing a door when the bottom has been cut off, when the smoke and possibly the fire can escape through the gap at the bottom?

Don’t worry about the fire regulations, anyone. All school children are to be fitted with interlinked smoke alarms so they’ll be perfectly safe. When one goes off, they’ll all go off.

Wee Burney was played by Eric Cullen, who was born with a form of dwarfism. He died aged 31 of a heart attack, after a sad life involving sexual abuse and depression.

My DD rented several old houses in Sydney Australia. These places always had big gaps under the doors for air circulation because of the hot summers.
My ankles were always very cold because I only visited in the Australian winters.

Think of all the money they’ll save on only have to paint half a door, too!
