Harry knows perfectly well that the Met are not for hire. The fact that he wants to make an issue out of it just proves what a weak, stupid, brain washed fool he has become. He cannot pay for this security himself it simply doesn't work like that for him or anyone else. He could pay for a retired security officer, or hire a security firm to protect his family, but I guess they're not good enough for this entitled idiot. As has been said, he could fly by private jet to a private airport, at an undisclosed time, immediately transfer into a private helicopter and flown to Windsor Highgrove, Sandringham or wherever without being in any danger. Once there he, they will be under royal protection anyway. His mother was killed because she ignored the advice of her security officer, went in a car with a drunk driver, didn't wear a seat belt, and had a boyfriend who,instead of protecting her, actually encouraged this extreme act of foolishness. Bearing in mind how Harry has sought to trash his family for money, including his mother, whatever makes him think that anybody including the RF want him here, when the sole purpose is probably the next episode of Netflix, with him whinging how awful everyone has been to him. I wish he would just SHUT up!

All he has to do is keep his visit purely private. No need to be seen in public. No additional security needed. He is a private citizen and as was said on an earlier thread our police are not available for hire by private citizens.

But of course he and Megain want as much publicity as possible so they have grounds to complain about it ?

Other members of the RF don't have armed security except on the Firms business, so why is Harry more important than the Wessex's for example? Princess Anne and her family? and so on, answer is, they're not. If they come quietly ,unobtrusively and stay at a royal residence with HM , or PC who has generously invited them to stay at Highgrove, they would benefit from royal protection anyway so what's their problem? Metropolitan Police Security is not for hire. By anyone, not even the Queen.
The Queen doesn’t pay for anyone’s security, not even her own.

If HM wants to use her private money to allow Andrew to settle out of court I should imagine it is because she wants to spare her beloved granddaughters the shame of their father going through a potentially disastrous court case.

Who is paying for this court case? How is Harry allowed to take up the time of courts and the Home Office when he no longer lives here? He and his wife didn't want to live here, fair enough, but I will be damned angry if we, the tax payers are paying for this farce. You know for a couple that wanted privacy, they never seem to be away from the media and our television screens.

Wow, well done him for standing up and fighting, that's the kind of thing that you learn when you lose your parent early and you're on your own. Why do people think money makes the slightest difference? Could easily make it worse. As for him 'easily being able to slip into the country'! Some hope, he had to leave Afghanistan the army career he loved because of the damn tabloids. They simply don't have a private life, no one in the celebrity or similar bracket does anymore. Harry’s army career was, in part, thwarted by his academic limitations. He would not have progressed to the higher ranks as promotions would have been awarded to better qualified officers.

It’s not red tape trisher. He isn’t entitled to police protection as he’s no longer a working member of the RF and if he’s allowed to pay for it how are the police to prevent celebrities from demanding the same? As has already been said several times he can make a purely private visit and then the issue won’t arise.

I don't understand this.
He wants to pay for something he used to get by right - a level of security he can't get from any other source.
How is this setting a precedent? Who else is in a situation like this?
