I will.

No problem with Kali2 posting her opinions about the UK or the EU or anywhere else.

Problem with being told off about a less than serious post and no apology given the other day.

Problem with apparent virtue signalling. That’s all.

Just thought I’d say this again Kali2

Kali2 I don't know why you're lecturing me I've never questioned your right to an opinion, and I am not a racist and trust you will clarify you are not calling me one.

You have once again explained about paying back the costs of support given over many years and I understand that it is equal treatment for all. What I cannot understand is taking assets on arrival from an asylum seeker leaving them with a maximum total of 1000 Swiss francs. Am I not allowed to say I think this is a bad policy? By stripping them down to this figure surely they are restricted in how much they can help themselves? I didn't go 'digging' for dirt on Switzerland, merely opened a link that was posted. I do think this policy is relevant because it would indicate any Ukrainian asylum seekers who land in Switzerland will be subject to this policy and expected to hand over their assets above the given figure.

Of course Ukrainian refugees coming to the UK to be with relatives should have been rubber-stamped through without delay. Our government failed at this hurdle, and demonstrated a complete lack of empathy. That is not 'digging dirt' either, just stating my opinion.

I don't know anything about Switzerland having only stayed there for six weeks about 50 years ago which I thoroughly enjoyed. I know nothing of their government, not even the name of their PM. But what I do know is that if I had, or was interested in Swiss politics, I would not, on a mainly Swiss forum, be airing adverse comments about how its government chooses to run the country, still less be making derogatory comments about its leader or the path their government was taking. If I did, I would expect people to probably feel prettyangry and not be surprised if they made that clear. Constant Brexit and Boris bashing has, for some of us, become extremely tedious and actually downright rude.

There’s a masterclass in DARVO-ing going on here.

DARVO refers to a reaction perpetrators of wrong doing, particularly sexual offenders, may display in response to being held accountable for their behavior. DARVO stands for "Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender." The perpetrator or offender may Deny the behavior, Attack the individual doing the confronting, and Reverse the roles of Victim and Offender such that the perpetrator assumes the victim role and turns the true victim -- or the whistle blower -- into an alleged offender. This occurs, for instance, when an actually guilty perpetrator assumes the role of "falsely accused" and attacks the accuser's credibility and blames the accuser of being the perpetrator of a false accusation.

Institutional DARVO occurs when the DARVO is committed by an institution (or with institutional complicity) as when police charge rape victims with lying. Institutional DARVO is a pernicious form of institutional betrayal.

Anti-DARVO refers to ways to reduce the negative impact of DARVO and also more constructive responses to allegations.

This man has recommended that the doors are closed as far as possible. He considers he has done his bit by tolerating Eastern Europeans whilst we were EU members.

What a charmer

Jaberwok. I will never cease "Boris bashing" as you call it, nor shall I cease ranting about the clusterf**k that is Brexit. I am a Scot living in England, so is that ok with you? Or do we have to pass some sort of test before we can comment?

Who is he ?

Lucca Wed 02-Mar-22 22:21:26

Boris bashing but not Meghan and Harry bashing (that’s just disapproval of their actions?)

Lucca Wed 02-Mar-22 22:24:00

Anyway the important thing is that people do whatever they can to help Ukraine and refugees in the most sensible and suitable way possible . Most of us cannot even conceive of how they must feel

GillT57 Wed 02-Mar-22 22:30:11

I cannot muster up the energy to be interested in M&H although I have tried. Far more important things going on, like having a treasonous liar as PM. That's just for starters.

I didn't like to show my ignorance by asking as I think we're supposed to know! ?

Who is he, Whitewave?

Callistemon21 Thu 03-Mar-22 00:05:28

He's Edward Leigh MP, I think.
I did a Google reverse search, first time I've tried it.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Mar-22 03:54:04

Sorry, just seen this

Yes Edward Leigh MP for a Lincolnshire constituency I think.

I’m not going to stop “Boris or Brexit bashing “ - we are supposed to be a democracy aren’t we allowed to criticise our so called government? And the policies that have weakened and demeaned this country? Why should we tolerate the lies this overgrown toddler tells on a daily basis?

Jaberwok Thu 03-Mar-22 07:39:19

IF, and it's a big IF, any of you could be bothered to read my post properly you might, and it's a big might, realise that my reference to Boris and Brexit bashing was in reference to Kali2 constantly criticising the government of a country she doesn't live in. Something I would never do. Having explained that, I shall now leave this thread and find a pleasant places to have a conversation.

I criticised Trump and I criticised Biden. I had no idea these 'rules' existed.

Read it perfectly thank you.

Why would someone who doesn’t live in the UK be constantly bashing it?
Don’t get that at all.

I feel perfectly entitled to criticise and nation in the world. I certainly do my fair share of criticising the USA .

Why shouldn’t I?

Galaxy Thu 03-Mar-22 08:01:58

I dont live in America I think Bidens decisions around Afghanistan were shameful. I think the Canadians approach to protest over Covid regulations has been bizarre and devoid of any kind of understanding of the long term implications, I am not Canadian either.
