National treasures. Who would you choose?
I am not a messy person but...
Virtual patient in Virtual ward ??
I think we should look at the law and stop fuffing about.
A transwoman can rape a woman a transman cant. In law rape is only about penises not gender.
However presently in law gender trumps sex, as a person with a penis is legally a woman if they say they are a woman with some checks. That is the law now. That is why the NHS has changed rules, the police the courts and lavatories and sport and girl guides, everything follows from a law change.
All political parties now wish to push this further and declare that checks are hurtful to people with penises who feel they are women and they should be legally declared women if they say so (self-ID) and be able to access all safeguarding previously, since time immemorial, has protected people without penises from those that do. For obvious reasons.
This is incredibly important and must be discussed openly and fully without fear or favour.

*Just a warning, some posters will ‘reframe your’ question.*
A very good reason not to respond to demands for answers. Assuming the answer will be wrong before it's given. And being aggressive about possible theoretical answers.
See that’s what I mean. You get so aggressive and call any question you can’t answer using male and female, “theoretical”.
Chewbacca I love that cartoon.
Thank you to those who have answered my question. Would any of the 'trans allies' like to comment on the answers, and maybe give one of their own, please?
I have another one, too, if I may - what is the difference between asking a question (necessary for debate, surely?) and demanding an answer when the question is ignored and the debate is stalled?
what is the difference between asking a question (necessary for debate, surely?) and demanding an answer when the question is ignored and the debate is stalled?
One is asking a question that the respondent cannot answer and the other is asking a question that the respondent refuses to answer. Hth.

✅ spot on.
That's a tricky one... ?
GG13 Yes that's this time, and all the other teams looked similar to this. In the future do we think all teams will bear even a passing resemblance? If you can have two men and two transwomen like Lia Thomas and still be mixed medley.........

Oh I could answer it. I wrote a 80,000 thesis on something similar to that topic. But I'm not debating this with people that are rude and aggressive. I've said this so much I'm sick of hearing it myself. But if you're rude, I'm not interacting with you.
You’re not debating with yourself then I take it. Except it appears you don’t see yourself like that. It’s how you appear to me when I read some of your dismissive posts, but . . .
Each to their own Mollygo. If I've been rude, I apologise, Happy to debate as long as it's civil. You won't like my POV, as I don't like yours. But I have no issue with agreeing to disagree.

I actually think the complaints will come from the males, when there aren’t enough TW to go round for the mixed medley races.
When that happens, mixed male/female teams will be at a disadvantage against mixed male/TW teams and I suspect the male voices will carry more authority.
I'm sorry but I don't know what the question was and have no hope of catching up
Apart to say I will also answer questions or comments put to me politely
I dont mind a bit of rudeness. On MN there was a female regular (not on this subject) who was breathtakingly rude, I came to quite like her in an odd way.
You're right Mollygo I'd not thought it through. When men start losing medals to teams containing transwomen there'll be all hell to pay, but so long as it's only women, pah doesn't matter, be kind. Anyone remember the furore when Oscar Pistorius was running on blades? His fellow male competitors protested loudly that the blades gave him an unfair advantage. My goodness the inquiries, analysis and testing that went on then to confirm yes he did expend less energy on his blades than the other athletes. He ran in both the Olympics and Paralympics. Strange that there has never been the same level of research about male advantage for transwomen.
Depressingly, you could be right Mollygo.
Take it no one has seen the latest news on the trans sports subject?
Like I've been saying, there are common sense solutions to most "issues" they just needed time to iron out while we adjust to trans people having protected rights
We have seen the cyclist decision, women aren't going to be quiet whilst the issues are ironed out. The only reason there is any attempt at 'ironing' is because of the noisy women.

Not sure what the latest news is that you're referring to VS? If it's the Emily Bridges thing that's a temporary ban, brought about by the UCI (the world governing body) who instructed British Cycling that Emily has not yet been cleared for international eligibility. I believe this is because her registration still shows the M marker. Emily will be competing with the women soon enough.
In my teens and twenties I (a female) was a competitive sprinter. If we had had to run against boys I think we would have just set up our own section of the competition.
As I've said before my own experience of trans is with the daughter of a friend who is changing to a man. I've noticed recently how her body shape is changing - from narrow to broad shoulders, broad hips to narrow..
She still has a high female voice.

Kathleen Stock's book, Material Girls, which I'm reading explains how we've got to the point we're at. I recommend it, and at 99p from that South America River you'' not be out of pocket much ?
Thank you for listing that book. Baggs. It won't be 99p for even, so now is the time to order it.
I already did, thanks for the info Baggs. We studied Simone de Beauvoir in French lit at uni.
FarNorth Young people "going gender neutral" trisher involves then claiming to have no sex at all and/or to be sometimes male & sometimes female, all of which is clearly nonsense.
No gender neutral means they refuse to tell you their gender. They use the pronoun "they" dress in a gender free way, and use gender less names
People who believe they can change gender are gender fluid.
