Is this sort of behaviour from Tory MPs just par for the course these days?

You're easily shocked then it seems.

Casdon Sun 03-Apr-22 17:30:57

No, only when people make outrageous statements like that Maudi.

If you bothered to read my previous post and the Daily Mail extract I posted you would see I wasn't. Seems some posters like to twist posts to suit their own agenda.

Casdon

If he is well enough to contact friends to tell them he’s in hospital with ‘severe shock and stress’ as the press are reporting I can’t imagine he has been admitted to an NHS psychiatric unit. The admission threshold is very high, only the most serious cases are admitted to a bed.

His wife, who is his Press Secretary I think, issued a press release.

Let's not be too silly about this.

It might also pay to remember there are mental health conditions where inapropriate behaviour is a symptom of the illness. He may be all that has been said about him or he may be ill. Perhaps now is the time to stand back and wait to see.

Urmstongran Sun 03-Apr-22 17:53:00

Must be nice to have money and access to private health care on demand.
The rest of us have no such luxury. We have to lump it.

foxie48 Sun 03-Apr-22 18:07:25

I feel very sorry for his family. I think there's more to this story than we know.

Curlywhirly Sun 03-Apr-22 20:21:40

Just why would anyone (especially someone well known) pose for a photo sitting next to lines of coke? And if it wasn't really coke, they must have known that it could be mistaken for it. What on earth was he thinking?

Jody1234 Sun 03-Apr-22 20:33:46

He's been admitted to hospital.

Iam64 Sun 03-Apr-22 20:44:26

It’s unlikely he’s been made the subject of a Section under the mental health act. Much more likely he’s in a private hospital. I’m with urmstongran and others on this. Accessing mh services even when suicidal, never mind feeling stressed, is extraordinarily difficult.
His wife works in his office. It seems to me they’re getting their defence in place. Blaming the Russians or some other power for stitching him up.

He seems to have found it easy to do that without the aid of any foreign power.

I’m a Labour voter but I’m entirely equal opportunities when it comes to public servants behaving badly, they face the consequences, just like we do in our work and private lives

MissAdventure Sun 03-Apr-22 20:47:54

Perhaps he is going for the old "I admit I have an addiction problem and am seeking help for it" ploy.

Iam64 Sun 03-Apr-22 21:01:36

Highly likely Miss A. Sounds unlikely he will
Hold his hands up and take responsibility. Be great if he did accept he had choices here and made bad ones

Perhaps he was testing different washing powders for an advert?

Let's not assume anything
hmm

It’s not cocaine, it’s dandruff.

And for anyone who believes that, I have a bridge you may be interested in.

Callistemon21 Sun 03-Apr-22 21:48:41

I've just sent him a bottle of that shampoo Claudia Winkelmann uses

Dinahmo Sun 03-Apr-22 23:01:30

You can see the lines made when he was cutting the cocaine. It certainly doesn't look like dandruff. Who's he trying to kid?

paddyann54 Sun 03-Apr-22 23:20:57

I humbly beg your pardon Volver it was Stewart Hosie not Pete Wishart ,dont knw where my brain is today.
My apologies to Pete ,who is blameless (as far as I'm aware)

well said Iam64. Some things, such as illegal or immoral behaviour or frequently telling lies in the HoC, go beyond party politics, and are about morals and accepted standards to behaviour.

Any excuse for a tune.

varian Sun 03-Apr-22 23:41:23

Good excuse isn't it?

He was suffering from a mental illness when he behaved inappropriately towards three different women .

He was suffering from a mental illness when he snorted cocaine - and when he ordered a woman to buy him cocaine.

He was also suffering from a mental illness when he borrowed £100,000 from a very dodgy Russian who had been declared unfit to be involved in the financial servises industry.

Perhaps David Warburton's longstanding mental illness explains his support for Brexit and the Tory Party.

Should we all just sympathise with him because of his mental illness and excuse him and all the other Tory Brexiters who have done such appalling damage to our country because they were all suffering from some mental illness?

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 00:18:01

It's a shame so much weight isn't given to people who are trying to claim benefits to help them with mental health issues, isn't it?
It makes me want to spit!

grin I knew about Stewart Hosie.

Poor Pete, falsely maligned!! smile

25Avalon Mon 04-Apr-22 09:17:26

According to The Telegraph MI6 are investigating the possibility of a stitch up by a foreign country. I can’t find anything on this anywhere else. He has strongly advocated against drugs in the past and been involved in trying to talk to youngsters about country drug lines. Either he has been stitched up or he’s a big fat liar and a hypocrite. Also he was warned 2 weeks ago this was going to break so plenty of time to check out St. Andrews NHS Centre in Wells for people experiencing mental health problems at work.

Callistemon21 Mon 04-Apr-22 09:58:58

Regarding that photo I am aware of photo-editing and photo-shopping - would he really be that stupid as to have his photo taken next to lines of cocaine?

It could of course be true and it excuses nothing he is alleged to have done for which there appears to be evidence, but it seems to be extremely stupid to have had his photo taken like that.

Perhaps he is that stupid.

Coastpath Mon 04-Apr-22 10:15:29
