Is this sort of behaviour from Tory MPs just par for the course these days?

Regarding that photo I am aware of photo-editing and photo-shopping - would he really be that stupid as to have his photo taken next to lines of cocaine?

It could of course be true and it excuses nothing he is alleged to have done for which there appears to be evidence, but it seems to be extremely stupid to have had his photo taken like that.

Perhaps he is that stupid.

Judging by what I see and hear when listening to government ministers I suspect that he really is that stupid.

Callistemon21 Mon 04-Apr-22 10:22:36

I think you're right, Whitewave

Is it stupidity or arrogance?
They think they're above the laws they make

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Apr-22 10:24:45

Both without a doubt.

Did I read that he maintained that it was dandruff!? So he isn’t maintaining that it was photoshopped. Even too think to try that excuse?

MissAdventure Mon 04-Apr-22 10:32:39

I think the photo is from one of the many people who have inside info on all the sleaze.

A certain weasel did say, some time ago that these things would come out, and here they are.

Also, I think the first lot of penalties for breaking lockdown rules at the party that never was have just been issued to those lower down the pecking order.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 04-Apr-22 10:39:39

Think =thick.

My computer is getting bossier and bossier.

Oh yes of course, dandruff; I do hope he's trying out the shampoo I sent for him in his prison bag, sorry hospital bag.

He seems to have been involved in a lot of things. Luckily, he booked himself into a private rehab...?which stops any questions.

Dodgy, flakey, manipulative and not someone I’d want representing me in Parliament.

varian Mon 04-Apr-22 21:13:27

He should resign immediately and allow the residents of Somerton and Frome the chance to elect an honourable and reliable MP.³

DaisyAnne Mon 04-Apr-22 21:30:57

If it all proves to be true it just goes to show the level of the belief, within the Tories, that they are untouchable.

Disgraced MP David Warburton lobbied for Russian businessman who loaned him £150,000 after regulator ruled he was not a 'fit and proper person' - and complained anti-sexual harassment training was 'insane'

Surely the game's up when he loses the support of the Daily Mail?

Oh I don't know, Varian. There's nothing the Tory voter likes more than a bit of vicarious sex and scandal, especially if it involves their 'betters'. Nothing more appealing than words which nobody uses in real life like romp

varian Wed 13-Apr-22 18:08:35

Do you really think that the Daily Mail readers in Somerton and Frome would just ignore all the romps, drugs and dodgy Russians, because they always vote Conservative and will never reconsider no matter what David Warburton or Boris Johnson are found guilty of doing?

Coastpath Wed 13-Apr-22 20:20:01

If the Tory's are getting in in Somerton and Frome it isn't the people of Frome who are voting for them. Frome has the most amazing Town Council made up entirely of Independents. It's a place with terrific community spirit e.g. it was the first place in the UK to set up a community fridge. It's a place well worth reading about.

Frome is an island in the heart of Tory country. Sadly for most Frome residents their vote will be wasted every time under our current FPTP system.

Coastpath Wed 13-Apr-22 20:20:36

Tories not Tory's damn it!

varian Wed 13-Apr-22 20:41:55

Currently the councillors who represent Frome on Mendip District Council are 6 Liberal Democrats, 4 Greens and only 1 Tory.

Before the disgraced David Warburton won
the Somerton and Frome constituency in 2015 it was represented by Liberal Democrat David Heath for 18 years so it is hardly a Tory stronghold.

varian Wed 13-Apr-22 20:54:19

The Somerton and Frome constituency is partly in Mendip and partly in South Somerset. Both of these District Coucils are controlled by majority Liberal Democrat administrations.

If the disgraced Tory MP is kicked out or resigns there could be a very interesting by-election.

Coastpath Wed 13-Apr-22 21:29:09

There is hope then!

25Avalon Wed 13-Apr-22 22:10:01

Somerset and Frome is likely to disappear under the Boundary Commission’s proposals to redraw constituency boundaries. Somerton will form a new constituency with Glastonbury, whilst Frome including Bruton ( where all the posh people are moving out to from London) will become the separate Frome constituency taking in parts of Bath and North East Somerset (currently parts of Rees- Mogg’s constituency) the Mendips and South Somerset. So it is pure speculation at this stage which are the predominant parties. Personally where I live near Bath will either be chucked in with South Gloucestershire or Frome. I’m not happy with either.

Here's a new sleazy tory

Andrew Bridgen, said by the judge in a court case dealing with a family dispute, "Lied under oath, behaved in an abusive, arrogant & aggressive way…so dishonest…his claims..could not be taken at face value”

"The discomfort with the Tory brand goes beyond parties. “It feels as though we’re returning to the 90s,” says a member of the 2019 intake. “Every week there is a new scandal and it looks seedy.”

They are referring to the antics of backbench MPs. This week, the Tory MP for Wakefield Imran Ahmad Khan was convicted of sexual assault – something his Tory colleague Crispin Blunt called “a dreadful miscarriage of justice” before belatedly apologising for any offence caused.

The week before another Tory MP hit the news for bad behaviour – the MP for Somerton and Frome had the whip suspended after he was accused of taking cocaine and allegations of sexual harassment. Some of his colleagues hit out at how they believed he was caught up in a targeted sting operation. Mr Warburton denies all the allegations against him.

Senior government figures worry more could come out. The Tories won in places they didn’t really expect to in 2019 and that means a lot of the current MPs are not the people Conservative Campaign Headquarters would have picked if they had known victory was around the corner. “A lot of these MPs are not ideal candidates on paper and we’re starting to see that,” says one government aide."

A Tory MP has been arrested on suspicion of sexual offences, with the party banning him from attending the House of Commons.

A Conservative Whips’ Office spokesperson said the MP would be asked not to come to parliament. “The chief whip has asked that the MP concerned does not attend the parliamentary estate while an investigation is ongoing. Until the conclusion of the investigation we will not be commenting further.”

Scotland Yard told the Sun, which revealed the arrest: “A man was arrested on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in a public office.”

Good excuse isn't it?

He was suffering from a mental illness when he behaved inappropriately towards three different women .

He was suffering from a mental illness when he snorted cocaine - and when he ordered a woman to buy him cocaine.

He was also suffering from a mental illness when he borrowed £100,000 from a very dodgy Russian who had been declared unfit to be involved in the financial servises industry.

Perhaps David Warburton's longstanding mental illness explains his support for Brexit and the Tory Party.

Should we all just sympathise with him because of his mental illness and excuse him and all the other Tory Brexiters who have done such appalling damage to our country because they were all suffering from some mental illness?

Maybe we could just have them all committed and start again????

He's been identified, but I'll leave others to search. I've lost count of how many there are now.
