Tories accuse Angela Raynor of "doing a Basic Instinct"

Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

In my opinion this silly story has done wonders for Angela Raynor's credibility as a serious politician.

Yes, exactly. Perfectly suitable and serviceable, plus appropriate for her job.
Good on her, I say. smile

It doesn't matter what she wears, unless we're right back in "Ooh, matron!" days, which people profess to hate so much.

You’re right MissA, I was just trying to make the point that she was in fact wearing an outfit similar to what millions of working women wear every day rather than some kind of micro mini as implied.

What is flattering or not flattering is just a subjective views and views on that differ!

Frumpy?
Midi and midaxi skirts for work are really in this season. ?

I know, but they are not as flattering as a knee length or just above dress or skirt for work though, unless you’re under 25 and tall and willowy. Ditsy flowers, layered and loose is not a good look for a midlife woman.

MissAdventure Tue 26-Apr-22 17:08:16

Another reason to like Rayner.
A work horse rather than a clothes one. smile

Why did you wear tiny mini skirts?
Any reason?

Well said Allsorts- I, too, used to wear tiny mini skirts - but in my job as a teacher, I would not have deemed it appropriate to wear these in a serious job. None of the men I worked with, turned up in tight shorts or shirts either. It is absurd to say that the way you dress or the way you behave - either male or female- does not or should not attract or deter, the opposite sex. Of course it does.

But Angela Rayner does not wear ‘tiny mini skirts’ does she? She wears skirts that are on, or just above her knees, the same as most working women who don’t want to look like frumps do.

You will note that despite saying a lot of negative things about the woman, the didn't say how she cared for her mother, or got qualifications in care work and sign language from college... while looking after her young son, Ryan. Nasty.

AGAA4 Tue 26-Apr-22 12:09:36

That too.

It's up to the men to change their behaviour not the women.
Women should wear whatever they want to without having to think about how they appear to men. ?

Or incurring censure from other women...

That would be brilliant!!

All the women in the HoC should stage some sort of visual protest.

It seems to me that the locker room culture is out of hand and needs stopping in its tracks.

It's been suggested that they all turn up wearing mini skirts... grin

MissAdventure Tue 26-Apr-22 11:37:17

Oh yes, I think a day of quiet unity by the women in the house of commons is an excellent idea.

The saddest thing is that there would probably be women who would not agree to do it.

AGAA4 Tue 26-Apr-22 11:35:03

While there is a libertine at the helm there is little hope of decent behaviour.

Perhaps it would be better placed over johnsons big fat head.

Oh dear, just popped in this morning and I see my previous post has been deleted. Oh well. Personally, I would like to see Angela Rayner turn up and put a tartan blanket over her knees.

Now I’m furious??

Rayner told Lorraine this morning that she is wearing trousers to avoid judgement.

I really, Really hope that she has chosen to do this on purpose, to emphasise the disgraceful misogyny of the original story, and not because she genuinely feels she "should".
