Rape and sexual assault

The Tories now have an MP who has been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault.

What depths of depravity does our current government have to sink to before they lose the support of every decent respectable person in this country?

It makes you ashamed to be British.

There are currently 56 MPs being investigAted for sexual offences. That’s almost 9% of them, or over 13% of male MPs. I cannot imagine that other workplaces have similar levels.

Today, Tory MPs are cracking jokes relating to one of them the MP being asked not to attend. Joking about rape, FFS.

Toxic culture is probably the politest thing one could say about Westminster politics, and the Tory party in particular.

Once again, Fabricant showing he is morally bankrupt by making a joke about that case. Rebuked by at least some of his own party. Tweet now removed but not before it's been copied so he can't hide from it. The same appalling Tory MP who, a few week ago, slurred nurses and teachers in a failed attempt to vindicate the PM for lockdown breaches.

Apparently only 3% of rape cases reported end in a prosecution or a sentence. So even if the man in question was/is guilty it's highly unlikely that he'll be prosecuted. Also this government seems quite happy to have people of dubious moral character retain their positions of power. It's basically still a mens club.. The 'Old School Tie' used to uphold morals...at least in public any way. BJ doesn't even bother to do that.
I think nowadays these issues of crimes against (mostly) women are coming to light in a way they didn't before. The 'Me Too' movement has made it possible for women to come forward without not being believed or being shamed, but there's a long way to go, sadly.

The figure of only 3 percent of alleged rapes resulting in prosecution is shameful
It’s also depressing to see so
Many posters seem keen to ignore the shameful lack of prosecutions , never mind successful prosecutions. Instead, their focus is the damage to men who they seem to believe are falsely accused.
Lack of prosecution doesn’t mean ‘found innocent’. The CPS won’t prosecute unless over eighty percent sure of a guilty finding. The criminal justice system remains stacked against victims

The accuser is, apparently, a male politician, who has known the accused since he (the accuser) was a teenager.

If that is true, then it all sounds vile.

To be honest, the tractor stuff was nothing in comparison (apart from using the phone when supposedly working.)
