Oldnproud, I am impressed that your MP may have taken note of Gransnet posts.
My MP has been reluctant to engage with me on the leader of his party. I shall watch his vote with interest: he hasn't heard the last of me!

Oh, I don't think for one moment that she will have taken any notice of my email, or even read it come to that, let alone folliw my suggestion of reading what Gransnetters are saying, but I can dream grin

So he's won by 211 to 148.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Jun-22 21:04:15

41% of Tory MPs do not support Johnson.

Far worse result than May’s result.

Pantglas2 Mon 06-Jun-22 21:04:17

Boris wins ....

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Jun-22 21:04:51

He’s finished.

Casdon Mon 06-Jun-22 21:07:50

Gosh, that’s a much better result than I dared hope.

growstuff Mon 06-Jun-22 21:08:21

This is going to be interesting. More MPs voted against him than voted against May.

Are we going to see a purge of those who voted against him? And some "sweeties" for those who behaved?

It seems definite that he'll push ahead with plans to sell off housing association homes, but I wonder how he's going to make the NHS more "efficient"?

There'll be tax cuts, but for whom?

I wonder how this will affect the polls in Wakefield in a couple of days and the result - not forgetting the LibDems in Devon.

hmm

FarNorth Mon 06-Jun-22 21:20:51

Loathsome git.

FarNorth Mon 06-Jun-22 21:23:18

Do the Tories even realise that the population of the UK exists, other than as non-player characters in Tory games?

grumppa Mon 06-Jun-22 21:29:45

It is so frustrating to be unable to announce proudly that one will never vote Conservative again, when one never has.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 06-Jun-22 21:30:34

'The Conservative party now believe that breaking the law is no impediment to making the law.'
A strong & irrefutable line from Starmer.

Yes. The feeling of powerlessness in the face of such corruption is maddening.

grumppa Mon 06-Jun-22 21:44:20

Given that my MP led his party leadership campaign, it is doubly frustrating.

RichmondPark Mon 06-Jun-22 21:57:52

40% of the party have no faith in their leader, the public boo him in the street and his approval ratings are scathing. Only 2 of Scotland's 59 MPs support him.

More appalling behaviour, lost by-elections and policies which alienate the party faithful are sure to follow.

This just buys Johnson more time to lose more Tory votes. MPs who voted for him now own all his future behaviour.

I do wish that the BBC would stop the habit of broadcasting all the news from outside locations such as this evening's broadcast from outside No 10.

What is wrong with having a political reporter outside No 10 with this particular news story, then returning to Huw Edwards in the studio for the rest of the news?

Instead we hear all the background noise from 9ther broadcasters, protestors yelling, booing and even howling, music like a pop concert .......
It's distracting.

Grumble over.

DaisyAnne Mon 06-Jun-22 23:43:20

Perhaps it keeps the electricity cost down if they send them all on outside broadcasts Callistemon.smile

Callistemon21 Mon 06-Jun-22 23:46:06

Just send one reporter round on a bike!
And keep Huw in a small studio

And so the lies go on ..... BJ is telling us that this is a "convincing victory."

He knows that this is a lie; he knows that we know it is a lie, but on he goes ......... is he deluded?

Let us hope that the bye-elections will finally kill him off.

It is just a game to him.

growstuff Tue 07-Jun-22 10:00:42

He's narcissistic, but I don't believe he's deluded. He's got away with outrageous behaviour and lies so far - why wouldn't it continue? There are still people who support him.

Callistemon21 Tue 07-Jun-22 11:02:16

is he deluded?

We did think he is trying hard to convince himself and consequently us but repeating something over and over again does not make it the truth.

Glorianny Tue 07-Jun-22 11:49:32

Remember Boris has survived other attempts to take him down. Gove stabbed him in the back and he bounced back. He rode out many storms when he was Mayor of London. He knows about today's news being tomorrow's chip paper.

NotSpaghetti Tue 07-Jun-22 12:00:02

Callistemon21 - quite right! We know that research shows that the more we say something the more we believe it and the more we hear something the less we challenge it.
