Frost's opinions are worthless in my view because he concluded a deeply useless Brexit agreement. Most Tory grassrooters are pro Brexit so the candidates play that line whatever they may privately think so they stand a chance if they are in the last two. We have an awful clutch of candidates compared with Tory PMs of yesteryear (excepting Johnson and Eden).

The biggest liar has to be Liz Truss. She’s not even good at it.
I just can't take Liz Truss' bid to be PM seriously. She's such a lightweight, gets confused when she's speaking and doesn't seem to have much of a grip on any subject.

Good! Better than waffling on about immigrants or culture wars! The economy and cost of living is almost certainly what "normal" people are concerned about at the moment.
To tackle the cost-of-living crisis in any meaningful way to the millions who are struggling might involve some radical thinking which would be alien to free-market ideology.
Looking at the current 'mood' of the country with various sections in the humour for strikes and not willing to put up with the way things are, I think the government know they will have to do 'something'. But they also all seem hell-bent on cutting public spending. That and the much vaunted tax cuts which will of course benefit high-income earners most. So it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Sunak's promised us he's going to govern like Thatcher - not quite sure what Mordaunt has in mind.
Personally, I don't think the 'man in the street' is going to see anything different from this party - the only difference will be that whoever becomes PM will be careful to work by the rules, and thoughtfully peruse any future party invitations.
And then, of course, there's the ERG conducting the orchestra from the pit...
I am really liking Liz Truss on the live hustings today, was not sure before but she is coming across very well and I like her views
Your last sentence sums it up for me Dickens and why I'd rather hopefuls talk about the economy (even if I think they don't have much of a clue) than manufactured "anti-woke" culture wars.

When did Frost appoint himself as the Tory Party sage anyway?
Sunaks tasteless and patronising video says it all. They are all so dodgy and awful except Tom T. and he is fast becoming an 'also ran'.
She's a politician. No further excuse needed.
Tom T for me as well, but we all know he won’t win. The thought of any of the others fills me with despair.
Boris - a dishonest liar with no integrity - everyone knew this but he got in.
Mordaunt - a dishonest liar - people know this - but some are still supporting her.
Truss - oh please no, no, no. She is a total lightweight who falls back on platitudes: "Deliver, deliver, deliver!" - yes, but deliver what? Please don't let us finish up with her for Prime Minister.
And if Sunak plans to govern like Thatcher then clearly he did not learn the lessons of her regime. How is it still possible that her assertion that national economies were like a household budget has not been knocked on the head. How can he not have worked out the misery that she caused? We don't want that all over again.
Suspect Tom T is becoming an also ran as the other candidates probably fear they wouldn’t have free reign to lie; skive, and look only after their own interests under his watch
It will be Truss and Mordaunt, a hope for another Thatcher
Lying rules out every member of the party!

that would be very good for womenkind, shows that we woman will not be kept down and it may indeed be possible
I only learnt today that Mourdant did not back Johnson in his leadership campaign, but backed Hunt. I Also discovered that Frost, who has been running Mourdant down, was never an elected MP but was parachuted into the Lords by BJ and made some kind of Brexit minister. Basically, the whole lot of them are a complete shower who don’t really care about the country anyway.
I think if I hear one more hopeful - or any other politician talk about "delivering", I shall go out in the garden and scream.
Yes, we have the vaccine rollout - which Johnson never fails to crow about. But consider this...
"According to an in-depth study by Samuel Cross of Imperial College London and the team, almost 100 percent of the £228m funding for the ChAdOx vaccine research and development from 2002 to October 2020 came from the public: nearly a quarter from charitable trusts like Wellcome and another quarter from the British taxpayer. We should also thank the Europeans, because, contrary to the Brexit rhetoric, one-third of the funding came from the European Commission.
"UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) was set up by PM Theresa May in 2018 as “a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).” Another is the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), part-funded by Public Health England: an agency that the Tories wanted to dismantle during the pandemic.
(source: The London Economic)
... so what else has been "delivered" - apart from Brexit which Johnson thinks he got "done" and the only issues left to iron out are the evil EU protecting its own interests and demanding we stick to the deal he signed.
The only other thing that's being "delivered" is huge energy bills which the government has the power and ability to navigate, but so far, hasn't.
And those who are waiting for the 'levelling up' are still waiting...
Tom T is bland, reminds me of John Major, mentions his military experience in the answer to every question on the husting today. Boring man with no vision

Excellent post
Head is bursting with all the goings on and back stabbings from the Tories...Agree they don't give a hoot bout the country only about their own egos....I got a shiver when I listened to Penny M deliver her speech....Echos of a young Maggie Thatcher....
I expect she would like to be a young MT to be honest!!
Am I imagining it or has Liz Truss already had talks with USA about them buying some of our NHS ( to fund their shareholders). And also agreeing that we will buy their antobiotic treated beef without the tracing which other sources have to have.
We need politicians who have Britains best interest at heart. Not their own.
If the sale of Cannel 4 goes ahead, how long before Nadine Dorries gets a seat on the board of what will probably be a foreign company.
Tom Tuggenhat doesn't have experience of government office but he talks sense and seems sincere.
Good post Dickens.
BJ did not get Brexit done - he cobbled together an unworkable agreement that is to the detriment of us all; especially NI. He did not care what the agreement looked like as long as there was one.
The vaccine roll-out was in the hands of someone who was unpaid; and the presence of the vaccine happened because the pittance of funding that scientific research gets was suddenly boosted. The whole programme of protection supplies was a jobs for the boys exercise as far as I can see.
They are a rather revolting shower of back-slappers and arse-lickers. It all makes me shudder.
No need to be reticent Lucky
May the worse person win - we can rely on the Tory grassroots to come up with the least suitable PM!
