Just that really. Is he only remaining as official PM to get paid? Because if he has no intention of working, surely he should be taken off the books, as any of us would be if we absented ourselves from work.

Petera there are posters on GN who still think that MPs go off on their holidays for the whole of every recess , as I am not a clairvoyant I have absolutely no idea if you or Fleurpepper are part of that cohort.
This thread is not about MPs- it is about the Prime Minister, at a time of multiple crises.

What is mildly annoying, GG13 is that your explanation of Parliamentary recess was in response to my post in which I'd pointed out that there were some 16 weeks of parliamentary recess over a year and that surely posters didn't think that was all paid holiday? (or words to that effect.) The point of my post was to emphasise that, as had already been explained on the thread, that it wasn't so.
You then proceeded to tell me in reply something that it was obvious (I thought) that I already knew.
Is the weather making us all a bit insensitive to nuance?
MaizieD The heat is obviously getting to some posters, if posts have to be explained and they still are not understood.
There have always be crossed posts and duplicate posts on GN, we are not writing a thesis, it’s a chat forum.
Pardon?

Let me hold that spade for you, you need a rest
Just to wind you all up on here, I think Boris Johnson has been a good Prime Minister, and heaven help you when your new one is in power.
heaven help you when your new one is in power
I take it that you don't live in the UK, Artols as it sounds as if events here won't affect you?

I think that Artols is a self identified below bridge dweller
Mind you, she’s right, heaven help us whichever of the two candidates grabs the prize. Neither of them seem good enough for the job to me, but nobody is asking me, or any of us, unless one happens to be a member of the Conservative party.
Indeed maddyone. Remind me, what proportion of the population are they?
Democracy they say!
Just cannot bear to think of what next for our country.

I not in the slightest bit wound up as there is zilch I can do about it at the moment.
A waste of my limited energy
Artols ?
What I find bizarre is that commentators seem to agree that what we are hearing from the two candidates is for the members and winning their votes, suggesting that they will act differently once in power.
So that suggests to me that we have absolutely no idea what will happen once on of them is PM.
Democracy has gone out of the window.
It went out the window the day Johnson was voted in. With excuses such as 'Anything but Corbyn.' I still fail to see how he could have been anything other than an improvement on the incompetent, lazy, greedy, self-serving examples we have in power now/next month.

I do think that there should be an immediate GE if a PM resigns or is hoisted out by their own MPs.
Then again we do not vote for a PM, we vote for our constituency MP and whoever is the leader of the winning party becomes PM.
As for what will happen after September, my prediction is not a lot,
MaizieD what an ignorant remark. I am British living in the US, but still care deeply about my home country.
Are you direclty affected though?
TillyTrotter
Boris is now a caretaker PM.
Does that mean he just sweeps up and changes toilet rolls?
That gave me a laugh Tilly. Thanks
I didn’t realise one could not express an opinion unless one was directly affected by the situation. Fleurpepper, I assume this is what you are implying?
My entire family live in England, so safe to say I care very much about how they will be affected.

No, but I do think it makes a difference.

And make such comments very cheap and unfair.

Absolutely.
If the commentators are right, and whoever becomes PM changes tack as soon as they are in power, it will prove straight away that they are the lying, untrustworthy opportunists that many of us already suspect them to be, and that they take us all, both their fellow party members and the rest of us, for gullible idiots
Lies, lies and more lies.
Yes, our democracy is stuffed.

Apologies for my inability to find the words to express my feelings. Thanks to Whitewave old and proud and others posting here.
I try to be positive but We’re All Doooooomed
