Shall we have a thread about it?

It will be interesting (I hope)

Esspee Wed 07-Sept-22 11:59:33

Fanny you know it will be a total disaster. I’m in. When is it?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 07-Sept-22 12:03:13

Right now. Anyone want to count how many times she says ‘deliver’?

Zonne Wed 07-Sept-22 12:08:10

There goes net zero, and tackling climate change.

And debt rather than taxing the outrageous profits of energy companies.

Zonne Wed 07-Sept-22 12:12:49

Please make her stop saying ‘as Prime Minister’

tanith Wed 07-Sept-22 12:14:38

Germanshepherdsmum I’ve already lost count ?

62Granny Wed 07-Sept-22 12:16:17

I love watching Ian Blackford? she hasn't told us anything yet!!

Esspee Wed 07-Sept-22 12:16:20

Ian Blackford as usual being shouted down. He makes so much sense.

Esspee Wed 07-Sept-22 12:19:20

Tomorrow, tomorrow, there’s always tomorrow, it’s only a day…..away.

Grandma70s Wed 07-Sept-22 12:24:28

She looks very stressed.

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 12:32:26

I’m half watching while on hold to the DWP; probably one of the least appealing ways to spend a weekday lunchtime

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 12:34:05

I wish that I’d decided to count the number of ‘delivers’
It would have been more fun.
Btw read ‘deliver’ backwards ?

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 12:35:39

She needs some sort of speech training.
Help with her delivery

Esspee Wed 07-Sept-22 12:43:36

Gawd help us is all I have to say after that. Let’s see what they come up with tomorrow to help with the cost of living crisis.

Petera Wed 07-Sept-22 12:49:28

I must admit - and I think you know I'm not a supporter - it wasn't the car crash I expected. No answers, wooden delivery, but she didn't fall apart.

Cleverly seems to be reinventing himself as the front bench clown and he would have been well advised to pay attention during the 'NI protocol' exchange rather the chatting and joking with Braverman.

Zoejory Wed 07-Sept-22 12:52:36

I agree, Petera.

MaizieD Wed 07-Sept-22 12:53:34

Starmer was absolutely right about the uselessness of rehashing Osborne's failed economic policies.

All that cutting corporation tax for the big boys does is give them more profit to distribute in CEO's pay and dividends...

MaizieD Wed 07-Sept-22 12:54:38

P.S her wooden delivery makes Starmer look positively charismatic grin

JenniferEccles Wed 07-Sept-22 13:17:59

It won’t be a complete disaster, but that matters not one jot to those on here who will claim it was regardless.

FannyCornforth Wed 07-Sept-22 13:21:49

I hope that dealings in the HoC will now be a bit more mature.
Johnson and Starmer didn’t bring out the best in each other.
I’d rather have wooden any day as opposed to the way Johnson carries on

Nanna58 Wed 07-Sept-22 13:24:49

Poor woman , she has as much charisma as the item my grandad wore for his hernia that had the same name as her !

mayisay Wed 07-Sept-22 13:30:44

Starmer charismatic ??? Never!

HousePlantQueen Wed 07-Sept-22 13:32:57

Although he may have been making allowances for the excitement of the new term and the new leader, I thought that The Speaker was very poor in controlling the noise, especially when anyone non Tory was speaking. There is always a fair bit of racket, but today Starmer sat down at least once, looked to Hoyle for guidance and had to stand up and continue during the baying. As for Cleverley, what an idiot he looked with his jeering and hand gestures. Truss did speak better than I expected, but that's all she did; speak. She didn't really say anything.

twinnytwin Wed 07-Sept-22 13:33:08

I thought that she did remarkably better than expected tbh, especially as it'd been suggested on GN that Starmer would completely overwhelm her. Did you watch the programme following with Iain Duncan-smith and Emily Thornberry. Very interesting discussion between them both.

Farzanah Wed 07-Sept-22 13:41:24

I (as a left winger) thought she actually did rather well. Anything would have been a refreshing change from Johnson’s mumbling, avoiding answering the question, and turning round to supporters for laughs with his shirt hanging out.
She at least answered the questions and seemed direct and business like. I like the fact that she has a women as health minister. It seemed less like an old boys club atmosphere.

Having said all that it’s policies that count, and I don’t agree with her on her fiscal policies at all, similar have failed in the past. You can change the PM but you can’t change the party sad and we’re in for a very difficult time during the next few months.
