It sounds worrying, doesn’t it?

Summerlove Thu 08-Sept-22 13:17:15

I hope the rest of the family, not just those in line for the throne are also able to visit her if they (and she) choose.

I actually feel a little bit sick.
It’s going to have such a huge effect on the nation’s psyche

Aveline

I'm very shaken to hear this somehow. Her mother made it past 100 I'd assume she will too. Oh. Sadness

Yes, me too. I’m surprised how scared I feel.

The whole world Id imagine. But especially the commonwealth countries.

It doesn't surprise me. I noticed the bruising on the back of her hand and it looked like she had a discrete canula although that might have been the way the photo was taken when meeting Liz Truss. She looked terribly pale and I have never been convinced that it was just a mobility problem. It will be sad when she goes but it is the one thing that is certain in life that is the great equaliser; death.

I noticed the bruising on the back of her hand. If you look back she has had that same bruising for several years and a doctor has said that it can be a normal sign of aging as blood vessels become visible under thinning skin.

The attached photo was taken in 2019.

What serious and sad news. I do so hope that all the family can perhaps be there, but not to overtire her.

God bless, and prayers for her.

I thought how very pale she looked despite her lovely smile and the bruising on the back of her hand seemed strange.
I hope she’s comfortable and pain free, bless her.

Yes I saw that too she is probably on blood thinners
She been so amazing.
All our thoughts with her.

SachaMac Thu 08-Sept-22 13:24:24

Sad news but she has become very frail since Prince Philip died, she must be gravely ill for them to make this announcement.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 08-Sept-22 13:24:28

I was only saying to my husband when I saw her meeting Liz Truss it will a terrible day when our queen dies though inevitable. Thinking of her and her family and hoping she’s comfortable.

Grandma70s Thu 08-Sept-22 13:26:23

She became queen when I was 11, and was crowned when I was 13. I’ve always been convinced she’d outlive me. She may yet.

tanith Thu 08-Sept-22 13:26:30

I fear very soon the next bulletin will be very sad news. ?

foxie48 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:26:45

There just comes a time to depart this earth. MIL reached 101 but started to show signs of heart failure, everything was becoming more difficult. Initially, she had medication to remove the fluid from round her heart but she reached a point when she needed stronger drugs and her quality of life was severely affected by the side effects. She asked to be allowed to die, she was still her usual cheerful self and completely sound of mind, but she'd had enough. She died peacefully at home with us as she had wanted after a very happy and long life. 96 is a very good age.

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:30:41

I have just come home and am hearing this for the first time.
I agree with all those who said she looked even smaller, thinner and frailer. The wonderful smile still lit up the room though didn’t it?
So Charles and William are there or on their way.
Given that Harry is this side of the pond - where is he? It would be unforgivable in my book if he flew back to the US without seeing her. ???

ixion Thu 08-Sept-22 13:31:43

Surely Anne and Edward will come too, as 'family? Not just the line of succession?

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:33:45

One would hope so.

Sara1954 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:34:02

I feel really sad, I always thought she’d make it to a hundred.
Hope she’s comfortable and pain free, I feel almost tearful.

Ailidh Thu 08-Sept-22 13:36:05

Like others, I am sad to have come in to this news.

My Mum made it to 96 and, while frail and in her (own choice) splendid nursing home, she was as alert as a box of foxes and pretty fit - until one day she was not.

I will cry.

wendyann23 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:36:35

I caught the news headlines and have tears in my eyes. She must be gravely ill for an announcement to be made about her health. My thought are with all her family.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:39:34

“I asked you all, whatever your religion, to pray for me on the day of my Coronation - to pray that God would give me wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I should then be making. I have been uplifted and sustained by the knowledge that your prayers were with me.”

Queen Elizabeth 11

Zonne Thu 08-Sept-22 13:39:52

I’m not a royalist, but have sympathy for her family at this time.

I assume she has had some inkling of this, and that is why Harry is in the UK, and that her family have all visited recently. I hope so, anyway.

FannyCornforth Thu 08-Sept-22 13:41:39

Thank you WW, that is beautiful

Millie22 Thu 08-Sept-22 13:41:41

I feel very sad. Can't really think of a time without the Queen.

MawtheMerrier Thu 08-Sept-22 13:42:20
