I thought we might like to record and share some of the images and thoughts that have a special meaning to us.

I’ll start with this. My most favourite place in the U.K., my home county.

One of my abiding images will be that of the lone figure of Garrison Sergeant Major “Vern” Stokes, striding purposefully down The Mall, pace stick in hand, doing a last minute check of the route before the cortège set off. His years of unparalleled experience of ceremonial and meticulous attention to detail gave us the spectacle we marvelled at on Monday. Everything has to be inch perfect, and nothing escapes his eye.

Does anyone know who sent the wreaths that were propped up against the pews by the coffin during the service at St George’s Chapel?

The flowers left outside Windsor Castle were arranged so neatly along the Long Walk at Windsor by officials each evening.

I was thinking yesterday how good it was that, years on from Diana’s funeral plastic was removed from the flowers and then people were asked to only leave flowers without plastic and references were made about what was going to happen to the flowers afterwards.
