Was he taking a private phone call? That’s the least disreputable take I have on him, appearing to talk, laugh, wipe his face with his hand and appear to sway.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:05:24

No he definitely was not on the phone.

His behaviour was utterly bizarre.

Let’s not forget that he is our chancellor!!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:09:07

I have just looked at the clip on front page of The Independent’s website.

He wipes his face, perhaps he was hot?

He swayed and looked around for a few seconds?

Rosalyn69 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:09:58

Sorry but I can’t stand the man.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:14:22

I am not a fan either, but cannot see what the fuss is about.

Iam64 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:16:48

The clip I saw had him appearing to talk and laugh to himself. I have no axe to grind with Mr K but the clips I saw showed behaviour I thought odd at such an important national occasion, and in a place of worship

Really!!!

And the laughing and giggling and swaying and general weird behaviour?

I have only seen the clip showing on The Independent’s website, it didn’t show him laughing or talking to himself only wiping his face and swaying.

I can only comment on what I have seen.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:23:27

And talking to himself.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:24:21

At least Gove only ever twitched in public???????

And talking to himself.

It wasn’t apparent in the short clip I viewed.

Was he talking to himself or praying?

My DH’s lips move when he prays, it really annoys me.

I am not defending him in any way shape or form, (would rather someone else was chancellor) just utterly tired of the constant gotcha journalism of the 21st Century.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Sep-22 09:32:09

In the clip I saw it 'looks like' he is laughing and talking. I assumed it was a phone call as he clearly has an ear piece in. Suella Braverman next to him looks distinctly uncomfortable and at one point turns slightly to look at him. His manner was at adds with all those around him.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Sep-22 09:32:31

Odds not adds

Farzanah Thu 22-Sep-22 09:36:41

The clip I saw on Twitter was most bizarre. Check out the glare from Suella Braverman.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Sep-22 09:40:34

Looks like there are various clips, will have a look.

Blossoming Thu 22-Sep-22 09:46:04

There are a couple things clips doing the rounds. I wondered if he felt ill.

Ailidh Thu 22-Sep-22 09:51:21

The clips I've seen, his behaviour looks distinctly odd - but I'm with GG13 on Gotcha Journalism.

Galaxy Thu 22-Sep-22 09:55:01

I dont think it originated as gotcha journalism did it? It was someone who uploaded it to Twitter and of course it took off.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Sep-22 10:05:46

I have just seen an other clip he looks uncomfortable and fidgety, who said it was during the 2 minute silence?

If you look at those around him they are also gazing around and are not in contemplative stance .

I would be interested to know who filmed this and then released it.

Riverwalk Thu 22-Sep-22 10:08:07

I've just looked at a couple of clips, taken at different angles.

Strange behaviour, lips moving, grinning and looking around. Immediately in front of him is Carrie Johnson and in front of her Sarah Brown I think - both looking solemn so not as though something endearing or affectionate has been said about the Queen. Suella Braverman gives him a sideways glance.

Then in the 2-minute silence everyone is standing still heads bowed, he's looking around and seems unable to stand still.

I too dislike clips taken out of context but based on everyone' else's demeanour he acted oddly.

Galaxy Thu 22-Sep-22 10:08:37

From what I understand it was various people posting it online and obviously it then went viral.

MissAdventure Thu 22-Sep-22 10:09:01

He looked like he was struggling not to laugh. (And failing)

Riverwalk Thu 22-Sep-22 10:10:03

I would be interested to know who filmed this and then released it.

I imagine they are from the TV footage as from different angles

Grandma70s Thu 22-Sep-22 10:18:24

I read - but I stress I haven’t checked - it was actually during the two hour wait they had beforehand.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 22-Sep-22 10:23:04

Even if it was while they were waiting for proceedings to commence (though that wasn’t what I have read), it was totally inappropriate to be grinning like a Cheshire cat. I assume he’s an example of being appointed in return for support.
