Was he taking a private phone call? That’s the least disreputable take I have on him, appearing to talk, laugh, wipe his face with his hand and appear to sway.

It's all most peculiar.
Like the 1984 book, with the department who rewrite the news.

Kalu Fri 23-Sept-22 18:10:49

Very strange there is no press coverage of his odd behaviour. I would have thought they would have been all over this like a rash. Hmm! Wish I knew some journalists who must know something about what is going on.

Iam64 Fri 23-Sept-22 18:13:55

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, my experience is it’s usually cock up rather than conspiracy. Despite that, I’m curious and rather suspicious that the news print, tv, radio aren’t covering this. The public response to the death of Her Majesty reflected affection, respect and feelings of loss.
The Queen’s funeral is the most significant state event in my life time.
We have a government minister behaving oddly, is he ill, under the influence or someone who doesn’t know what’s expected at such an important moment?

Im not a fan of Jeremy Corbyn but can you imagine the outrage if he’d behaved like this? Yes I know he’s unlikely to have accepted an invitation - Tony Blair or David Cameron then?

Callistemon21 Fri 23-Sept-22 18:23:41

or someone who doesn’t know what’s expected at such an important moment?
I don't think that can be the case

Just mentioned this to DS who asked where I'd heard about this. I vaguely said 'the internet' and he's just given me a warning about accessing dodgy sites on the internet.

I didn't like to tell him it was Gransnet.

Although, sometimes it does seem rather dodgy these days ?

Kalu Fri 23-Sept-22 18:38:32

If he didn’t know what to expect, surely he is astute enough to read the room and pick up on the solemnity of the occasion. I very much doubt that this reason was behind his odd behaviour.

MissAdventure Fri 23-Sept-22 18:47:05

On the video, it has the sky news logo.
I appreciate there are different ways to doctor stuff, but, hmmm...

Iam64 Fri 23-Sept-22 18:58:26

Callistemon - dodgy gransnet ?. Groups of grannies trying to get to The Truth

Miss A - I think we can accept this vid hasn’t been doctored by Sky News - can we ?
If it had been ‘enhanced’ by the Twitterati, surely Mr Kwoteng would be suing
I’ve been watching Captured where fake
Interviews are broadcast ?‍?

Callistemon21 Fri 23-Sept-22 19:02:17

Iam64 I think I got the "talk" that the DGC get - he is obviously worried about me trawling unsuitable sites ?
He may be right.

Curlywhirly Fri 23-Sept-22 19:04:10

To be honest, his behaviour is so bizarre, that with hindsight, I presume it must be doctored footage; but if so, why has no-one come forward and said so? The news blackout is very odd and the lack of defence of his behaviour is even more odd!

FannyCornforth Fri 23-Sept-22 19:10:34

Curlywhirly no, he’s on drugs.
The country is in that bad a state.
And he can’t even handle the blooming things.
You know, wait until you are Chancellor of the Exchequer and it’s the biggest funeral of all time, and then drop your first E (or whatever he’s decided to do; I’m favouring this over coke)

MissAdventure Fri 23-Sept-22 19:21:41

Because of the gurning?

FannyCornforth Fri 23-Sept-22 19:28:14

That’s what I thought
What’s your opinion MissA?

Farmor15 Fri 23-Sept-22 19:38:53

I wondered was lack of coverage by mainstream media because they were afraid of a backlash if they were seen to criticise a black politician so early in his post?

MissAdventure Fri 23-Sept-22 20:06:09

Well it did occur to me that it might be, plus the look of wonderment he had... almost ecstatic, I'd say.

JaneJudge Fri 23-Sept-22 20:08:57

Oh, is this the way they say the future's meant to feel?

MissAdventure Fri 23-Sept-22 20:12:59

I seem to have left an important part of my brain, somewhere... somewhere in a field, in Hampshire.

From what I’ve seen and heard from him to date, he’s a ghastly man and comes across as ever so slightly aggressive ! Only a personal opinion of course

Callistemon21 Sat 24-Sept-22 11:18:29

Perhaps he's another old Etonian who think the rules don't apply to him.

well there appear to be plenty of them

Silvertwigs Sat 24-Sept-22 11:21:33

Was he on Bluetooth?

Googes41 Sat 24-Sept-22 11:37:34

One of the Cardinals seemed to be checking his mobile phone, thought they were banned in the Abbey! Perhaps
He had a divine right!

Silvergirl Sat 24-Sept-22 11:39:47

If it is a doctored video then I feel it should be criminalised. People change their vote on things like this which is an affront to democracy. Remember the doctored video of Starmer hesitating for ages which made him look an idiot. Very unfair dirty tricks.

Bluecat Sat 24-Sept-22 11:46:20

Perhaps he was chuckling to himself at the thought of the awful Budget he was going to spring on us.

Fleurpepper Sat 24-Sept-22 11:47:11

If it was Silvergirl, surely the Cons would have made it known and officially complained. They have totally ignored this, not a single comment. And yet those around him, and Carrie in front, seemed very aware and embarrassed.
