Afraid I ve never liked the man always thought he was an attention seeker

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 20:47:43

oh yes, Julie Bindel

BlueBelle Sat 01-Oct-22 20:50:05

He’s not a she glorianny he changes his mind and sometimes dresses as a woman and sometimes a man he is a man

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 20:52:50

and sometimes he is a marathon runner grin

maybe he has a personality disorder - which is fine but it's not being a woman

Galaxy Sat 01-Oct-22 20:53:28

Yes Male privilege on full display.

Eddie says she doesn't mind which pronoun you use. I choose to use "she" you may choose differently. I wouldn't dream of commenting about your choice.

Zoejory Sat 01-Oct-22 20:55:44

She's a she now. Didn't used to be overly bothered but now likes she/her.

Yes Male privilege on full display.

innit though

people thinking they are open minded being narrow minded. It was ever thus

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 20:58:50

Maybe it just highlights how dangerous it is anyway, being she/her and accessing women's spaces just because you feel that way. It;s fucking ridiculous

Mollygo Sat 01-Oct-22 20:58:51

Yes, the ubiquitous ‘some people’ can and do use she for males.
Doesn’t make it right, but calling him she doesn’t stop Eddie being male whatever pronoun he or anyone else feels like using for him and he shouldn’t have been in female toilets.

Glorianny Sat 01-Oct-22 21:09:29

Maybe I shouldn't have been in male toilets -but I have!

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 21:13:18

As a born female you have made yourself physically vulnerable being in a male only group space where the males toilet in groups

FarNorth Sat 01-Oct-22 21:17:35

Glorianny says Izzard is successful & popular & entertaining & raises money for charity .

So were Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris.

Who would have objected if things had been as they are now and those lovable entertainers had been able to identify as 'women'?

Note : I'm not suggesting anything about Izzard, specifically, just pointing out that we can't know for sure about any man.

Well you would, but fortunately you’re not famous, so no one knew, or evidently cared.
If you want to start a campaign for females to use make toilets, go ahead! ???

Strange how "she" decided to present as a man when "she" visited the middle east not long ago. I wonder why? ?

Mollygo Sat 01-Oct-22 21:55:19

Publicity seeking.

NanKate Sat 01-Oct-22 21:56:26

Yuk ?. I don’t want to share the Ladies with EI.

Oh really? I missed that

How expedient

There can't be a rule that says 'These facilities are for women and Eddie Izzard'. As soon as one man uses them, then either there is an intruder in the Ladies or they have become Unisex, and any man who fancies going in can use them.

Based on my experience of male friends, colleagues, husband and son, I think that most men would rather not, as they would be well aware that their presence would make women uncomfortable, and knowing this would make them uncomfortable too. Izzard would also be well aware of this. I agree with whoever said that he was marking his territory - literally territorial pissing.

Blossoming Sat 01-Oct-22 22:13:15

FarNorth you may not realise this but I am visually impaired and my eyes don’t necessarily see the same things as other peoples. I interpreted the photo wrongly, as I already said.

MaizieD Sat 01-Oct-22 22:19:50

I understand that Izzard is trying to be selected as a Labour parliamentary candidate for Sheffield.

I can't see that being a vote winner... Sheffield has a large immigrant population, which tend to have 'traditional views of male/female roles, and I'm not altogether sure that the long established white Yorkshire population are much more liberal (though it's many years since I lived there and views might have changed.)

FarNorth what a disgusting post. No one has ever suggested Eddie has ever behaved as those two have. She has written openly about what she thought were transvestite feelings and coming to terms with them.
Her political leanings have always underpinned her actions and behaviour.
Your remarks show how some women cannot be trusted to behave in a reasonable way or to present reasonable arguments just as the article does. It also illustrates how weak the argument is. One celebrity uses a ladies loo, she is accompanied by two women who keep watch, so making sure everyone knows. So she's criticised as a danger and as an exhibitionist. If she'd just slipped in of course no doubt she'd be labelled an offender.
If you can't make a point without chucking dirt the point really isn't worth making.

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 22:21:24

can I stand for Sheffield instead? I have much stronger boundaries and I'm actually a woman

Callistemon21 Sat 01-Oct-22 22:22:49

Glorianny

I have used a men's toilet when the women's queue was long. I almost did it again at the airport last week, but the men had a queue as well. Should I be banned?
As for the article. Eddie Izzard may have millions, but she earned that money. She was one of the first comedians to manage and run her own shows and play arenas so she made more.
As far as being a candidate for Parliament she has a long and successful history of working for the Labour Party, so this is the logical next step
Eddie has also raised thousands for charity running marathons.
By all means criticise the gender choice she has made, but if you have to do so why not acknowledge the achievements of the person you are writing about? If the only way you can garner support is by character assassination it really doesn't say much about your beliefs.

By all means criticise the gender choice she has made, but if you have to do so why not acknowledge the achievements of the person you are writing about?

Why? ?

As others have said, so did Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris.
Do you think they weren't so bad then, considering all the money they raised and what fun they were?
It was a good guise.

JaneJudge Sat 01-Oct-22 22:25:49

having two women accompany you to the ladies toilet when you liked being a transvestite previously could actually point to someone getting sexual arousal and pleasure from the experience - of course it might not..

but never mind shrill women
