Ha ha agree the post The Panto season started early grin

DaisyL Fri 21-Oct-22 12:01:42

sazz1 I agree but if he comes back now there will be far too many 'backstabbers' out to get him - they seem to rejoice in shooting themselves in the foot at the moment. I still stand by my theory that Liz Truss has a crush of Keir Starmer and is trying to get him elected - why does she wear red so much of the time and not the traditional Tory blue?

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 21-Oct-22 12:27:26

The majority of the public want that lying, cheating toad back, sazz1? Not in my universe....

I'm hoping Boris comes back. He did a lot of good for people during the pandemic providing money for furlough, self employed, small businesses, Universal Credit, stopped evictions, etc. All those MPs enjoyed his parties then turned on him when they were caught. Too soft a boss but a lot better than the state we're in now. The party was united under him until partygate apart from one or two eg Cummings. Now they are a real mess with interest rates up, the pound fell against the dollar, people can't afford bills, strikes etc. If anyone can sort it out it's Boris. I'm not alone thinking this as the majority of the public want Boris back but maybe not the majority of MPs.
Kier isn't liked and friends of mine won't vote Labour because of him even though they always have before.

100% agree

Are you both oblivious to what was happening before Johnson left? Do you honestly believe the garbage that you have just spouted?
Where you begin! Not that there's much point, but here goes anyway.

It was already 100% certain and well-reported that energy bills were going to soar again, and inflation was already running out of control. It didn't suddenly start after he resigned, you know!

By the way, as Sunak was the Chancellor throughout the pandemic, perhaps it is him who you should be giving the credit to for all the financial help provided during lockdown, and who is far better qualified than Johnson to do some damage limitation now, as leader.

Never mind Boris being the person who could sort this out (a thought that would be laughable if it wasn't so serious!), it is him who led us into the deep brown stuff in the first place, and whose self-serving actions have brought the party - and with it, our country - to where it is now. He's toxic,

Can't be just me that feels as though our countries politics are an absolute shambles and I really fear for the future not just here but world wide too. I really wish politicians of every party worked in our very best interests as individuals to ensure better times ahead for society as well as the economy. I have no answers but will always try to do my best for myself and others with integrity and honesty. I simpy wish our politicians would do too.

Where is your evidence that ‘the majority of the public want Boris back’??? I haven’t heard or read anything to support this. A tiny percentage of people eg. the Conservative Party membership, are not representative of ‘the majority of the public’.
Similarly, where is your evidence to support your claim that Keir Starmer isn’t liked? Just because ‘your friends’ won’t vote Labour, that doesn’t mean he is universally disliked.

Both of your assertions do not represent my view! Please don’t make sweeping statements that claim to speak for ‘the majority’ when they clearly don’t! You don’t speak for me.

Until Brexit is abolished, it will be gone, gone, gone every other week! Just wait for it.

Why is this even relevant today?

Does whoever at Gransnet who picks the topics of the day not hear the News?

Not in my universe either. I can't believe why anyone would want the lying ....... back. He only got a large mandate because the opposition had Jeremy Corbyn as Leader and given the choice he was the better of two evils. I live in a Conservative seat and those I've spoken to do not want him back. Any MP that backs him should not be in office (and definitely won't be after the next GE if he becomes PM again).

J52 Fri 21-Oct-22 17:01:29

sazz1 it would appear that you are wrong.

LucyW Fri 21-Oct-22 20:50:13

Would be scandalous if Lis, Truss got the 120000 pa. Then again, I read that Tony Blair claimed the full 120000 last year despite earning hundreds of thousands for making speeches. How much money does one person really need esp given Tony Blair took us into a conflict we shouldn't have been in and has the blood of British army personnel on his hands. Have these people no morals?

MissAdventure Fri 21-Oct-22 20:50:55

In short, no.

Nusgranny Fri 21-Oct-22 22:57:53

Are you actually in the UK ? Because if so you see it very differently to the vast majority of the country. Johnson left his wife when she was having cancer treatment. 240,000 died of Covid due to his inability to make a decision. He was one of a very few MP's who attended parties and he lied to Parliament and the country about it. Then threw his own staff to the wolves. The party was far from united under him, they were plotting against him from day 1 as many were appalled by him and his lies. Far from the majority of the country wanting him back, they were pleased to see the back of him. He's an MP who goes on holiday when parliament is sitting, I'd get sacked if I did that. Starmer is an honest , caring man with a fantastic track record as DPP. Whoever your friends are I think they are stringing you along, unless of course they are Corbynistas. Get real we need a GE now.

Esspee Fri 21-Oct-22 23:21:12

Well said Nusgranny.

nanna8 Fri 21-Oct-22 23:45:00

Yes,for the sake of the country they should call a GE. It is pretty obvious if they want to keep a modicum of dignity. Sometimes I miss the UK, my country of birth but right now I am glad I am nowhere near it !

madeleine45 Sat 22-Oct-22 00:50:51

When you say panto do you mean in the HoC version you say "Where's the PM?" "She's behind you !" "Quick Quick look behind the curtain , there is a Boris coming back" " Do we want him to come back boys and girls" "Of course not, he was the baddy, who lied and cheated and made rules that he didnt follow, why would you want him back?" "Look around to see where every one is. Where have they all gone? Oh they are all hiding so that they dont have to be the next Pm!! Never mind we can watch them all running about like a Brian Rix farce!!
Oh for goodness sake, lets stop wasting time and money and have a general election before christmas so that we could actually start the new year with somone who was actually elected properly. If the Tories think they are going the right way they should be prepared to stand up and be counted. Oh sorry it isnt a pantomime is it? Perhaps it is more Punch and Judy. Can you see the policeman coming for Mr Punch.??

Agree with this ^ Bumbling, Blustering Boris tried to be all things to all people and made a Big hash of it.
