Feeling strangely, quietly, a little bit optimistic

Bear with me here.(1) The UK has finally kicked Johnson out, and I anticipate there will soon be disgrace, removal of the whip and removal from the HoC for him, his peculiar rise to fame has become infamy, although I do not underestimate his vanity and self belief. (2) Trump's days are ending too, courtrooms and disgrace beckon, finally for this disgusting charlatan (3) Even the BBC are discussing the negative impact of Brexit, the elephant in the room. Yes, there are very hard times ahead, and I am not ignoring Putin or China, but I am feeling ever so slightly optimistic that I was right; that the immoral Trump and Johnson would get their come uppance, and that Brexit was a huge mistake.

I have said before to you volver...

Then I will consider myself told off.

I am astonished that people can feel at all 'optimistic;.

All we have is a reshuffle of the same people who ensured that the UK is in the mess that it is in/

The same people who want to - turn back the dinguies;, send people to Rwanda, assured the privatisation of the NHS, cut back on nurse and doctor training, cut the police force, have forced people like teachers, firemen, postal workers, nurses, social care workers, etc. etc. to take dramatic wage cuts.

I know we like to try to be optimistic - but sadly - reality means this lot, albeit in their different posts, will ensure it get a lot worse

I agree,
Same Tw*t bus, different driver, same destination.

Nanny 19 totally agree with you

I hope to God that Brexit is never returned. Do you not think that we suffered enough under the anti-British rule of the unelected EU commission. If Scotland are so keen to live in serfdom under EU conditions then it will bring much work for England rebuilding Hadrians' wall, and good riddance to the SNP

volver Wed 26-Oct-22 17:30:54

That's all perfectly rational.

Hadrian's Wall is mostly in England.

Northumbrians, now's your chance!!

Wyllow3 Wed 26-Oct-22 17:33:18

I hope to god that we rejoin a much as we can with the EU, drawing closer so that customs and tariff issues are solved and business can trade properly, prices lowered across the boards.....so our children and grandchildren can feel free to easily travel and look for jobs again...so we can re-form cultural and yes friendship bonds with our closest neighbours, especially with the warlike or potentially war like blocks of Russia and China around, so that Erasmus University research and development can resume properly, our maths, science, and medics can work freely together again, and more.

We don't need to rejoin for this. I am weary of the "little Englannder" view. I want to belong to the world, especially out close neighbours, again.

Personally I don't want Scotland to go, but as an English person I dont assume its my right to tell them so.

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 17:41:46

I’m an English person and I think the Scots should be given a second referendum. Then it’ll be clear one way or the other. If they turn out desperate to go why should we (the English) stop them. The same for the Welsh and the Irish. Then it’ll be exactly how those nations want it to be and we can have good relationships with them, whatever they choose. It’s called democracy.

I find so many comments here unpleasant. I am a supporter of Boris Johnstone. Mistakes that were made under his leadership were blown out of proportion and contained mockery of him as Prime Minister by the media including the BBC. To continue with such remarks and now of Liz Truss is disdainful. What happened to kindness and tolerance where it is recognized, that people including politicians work hard and do their best, and yes sometimes get it wrong.

So we should be kind to Liz truss who has caused so much distress to people financially in such a short time eg with their mortgages pensions etc. ?
We should be kind to Johnson who did NOT handle the pandemic well, far too slow to lockdown, did NOT personally invent the vaccine, allowed dodgy PPE contracts to be given to cronies, lied about parties etc etc.

Lets get a few things straight Trump is a good guy and not the bad guy the MSM paints him to be. If it wasn't for him we would be in permanant lock down now, or in fema camps or dead, and they would have had mandates to force us to have the jab. Biden and the democrats work for the deep state and they want to depopulate the world. Trump and his team are fighting for our freedom. Putin is also not the bad guy he is painted. He went into Ukraine to get rid of the Bio labs there as they were working on bio weapons to use on humanity. He also went in to end the child traffiking that is going on there and has freed many children. I have friends in Ukraine and the USA and things are not as they are portrayed in the news. Trump is hated by the deep state as he is standing in their way and stopping them destroy the world so they are constantly telling lies about Trump. The truth will soon come out and you will be thankful for what Trump and his team has done for you. Stop watching the MSM as its just a propaganda machine owned by the deep state.

???‍♀️?

Ilovecats2 Wed 26-Oct-22 18:18:00

Oh and I must add that Trump may get arrested but it won't be for long and is all part of the plan, and he will be back!!

growstuff Wed 26-Oct-22 18:18:20

usuallyright If the UK were to rejoin the EU, which Brexit benefits would you miss?

Barmeyoldbat Wed 26-Oct-22 18:34:39

Nsnny19 how can you use the words hard work and Boris in the same sentence. The only thing Boris has cared about or worked for is his imagine. He was lazy and self serving and still is. Good riddance to him and hopefully the Tory party

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 18:39:59

Gosh. Not sure what to say.

maddyone Wed 26-Oct-22 18:40:33

That’s about Ilovecats2

If after all the economic analysis of the performance of the UK in the last six years, which have conclusively demonstrated that the loss of 4.9% of GDP due to Brexit is actually more than the damage done by Covid (even taking account of the incompetence and corruption of out government during the pandemic) usuallyright still thinks she was right to vote Leave, she should change her username to "alwayswrong"

If you say so Ivanka.

Gosh. Not sure what to say.

I had assumed it was a parody, but now I'm horrified to realise that it possibly wasn't. hmm

varian Wed 26-Oct-22 18:49:18

I think thatIlovecats2 has actually got one thing right. Trump and Putin are on the same side. Trump would never have been elected without the backing of Vladimir Putin,

Gosh. Not sure what to say.

I felt the same.

Sometimes it's just best to say nothing. Because whatever you do say, it won't penetrate the firmly placed tin-foil hat.

Romola Wed 26-Oct-22 19:55:51

I can't feel optimistic. The 2020s look like they're shaping up to be the worst decade since the 1940s. Brexit, Covid, Ukraine, no government can cope without pain for us all. But the current lot of Tories are a disgrace and I can't wait to see the back of them.

Ilovecats2 Wed 26-Oct-22 19:58:54

I put a comment on here and now cannot see it. What happened to free speech??

volver Wed 26-Oct-22 20:00:55

I can see it.

Free speech working OK in my house.??
