Okay Dickens since you want me to get off the fence, I’ll nominate you. And Callistemon as Speaker, as that’s a job she wants. However, I’m not even nominating myself as a back bencher

You might not be so keen - I'd want a coalition government (highly unpopular), and definitely no hard right or left (sorry biglouis).
But, who'd really want the job amid a global recession, the looming threat from Putin, Covid (it's not a thing of the past, yet) and the doldrums of Brexit?
I believe the biggest worry / issue for most now is the economy - on that hangs everything else. But, goodness me, what a job, there is no quick-fix is there? Going back before 2016 and, erm, that vote, we were in an economic pickle... productivity problems, huge reliance on the financial sector, and a shortage / deficiency in training and skills. I don't know how much % GDP we're losing... can't even bring myself to look at Moody’s and S&P's ratings. Yikes!
Thanks for the nomination, I'm taking myself out of the race (I wouldn't have enough backers anyway LOL), I am simply - and this is not a humble-brag - not clever enough for the job. Although I don't think I'd be quite as bad as poor Liz Truss, and I certainly would ban myself from ever using the word "deliver", mostly, because I couldn't deliver anything
. I've got lots of idealistic ideas about a fairer society for everyone which look good on paper and are easy to spout, but the reality is a completely different kettle of fish.
You can get back on the fence maddyone, it's probably the best place to be at the moment. I'll join you.
