There's really no excuse for keeping quiet out of fear.
Do they really think everything will go along just fine if they say nothing?

Yet another paedophile 'transwoman' .
This one was accepted as a trusted friend of a young girl's parents and okay to be alone with her because of his 'gender identity'.

He groomed the 14 year old girl, raped her and got her pregnant.

Do I say all transwomen are like this? No.

Do I say all men are like this? No.

However, the girl's parents would not intentionally have left a young man alone with their daughter because they understand what could happen, but they did leave this young man alone with her because they were caught out by the demands to always instantly 'believe what someone tells you about themself '.
And he told them he was a woman.

Even if the general public is mired in confusion, it's essential that UK laws makes clear what is meant by the terms female, male, woman and man.

Signed.

This case is being discussed in the Scottish parliament thread, too.

I hope this link works - to a montage of transwomen who have committed crimes typical of men.
If they are not real transwomen - how is anyone to know?
If transwomen are not men but are as dangerous to women as men are, statistically, there has to be another option that doesn't involve transwomen being automatically accepted as women.

Listening to the radio this am, I hear that following concerns that people who have self ID and got a GRC in Scotland, NS says, Westminster won’t have the right to refuse to recognise them in England.

Rosie51 Mon 12-Dec-22 13:51:52

Does she think she can legislate for the whole UK? She refuses to listen to groups that have raised concerns, and rudely refers to the Special Rapporteur on violence against women as "that person from the UN" rather than use her name, because she raised concerns. What arrogance.

FarNorth Tue 13-Dec-22 16:42:42

Lady Haldane has ruled that people with a GRC are in fact the sex they claim, in all circumstances, because the Equality Act did not mention biological sex at all.

So it's even more essential that the Equality Act is clarified if its intention of making single-sex provision possible, in some situations, is not to be completely annihilated.

What?!! It really is essential to get the biological sex category recognised. 10, even 5 years ago I really would have laughed at suggestions these sorts of judgements would be made, it's all rather frightening, where will it end?

Oh so the legislators should have foreseen that we'd be entering clown world where anyone without any professional assessment would be able to declare themselves the opposite sex to that which they were born? When the act was enacted GRC were thought to number just a few hundred, issued after a lengthy process.

FarNorth Tue 13-Dec-22 17:10:06

In case anyone doesn't know, this ruling is the result of the For Women Scotland challenge to the Scottish Government on the Gender Representation on Public Boards Act 2018.
Their previous court case ruled that the Scottish Government was wrong to say, in the GRPBA, that the categories of 'woman' and 'man' include everyone who chooses to identify into either of those.
However, the Scottish Government amended the Act to say that the categories of 'woman' and 'man' include those with a GRC as being their chosen sex.
Lady Haldane has now found in their favour.

The GRPBA was intended to increase the proportion of women on public boards.
It seemed to be something that would have very little effect on most people's lives, whether or not self-identified trans people or GRC holders were included in their chosen sex.

Because of this judgement, however, it has become a precedent for all other legislation which refers to one sex or the other.

FarNorth Tue 13-Dec-22 17:18:40

Even without a crystal ball, the Equality Act does seem to include an unnecessarily confusing hotch-potch of references to 'gender' and 'sex'.

I believe that was the result of deliberate lobbying to take advantage of the fact that, at the time, those were believed to mean the same thing and, as you say Rosie51, that the Gender Recognition Act 2004, was expected to be used by a very tiny proportion of the UK population.
